This is actually possible to achieve, but o think they create less priority to it because of the signature space which a hero and a legendary rank members have the same, that makes it look more or less thesame, you can see that other lower ranks like sr member and full member have a different signature space, but now left for the campaigns to either make a little difference in their signature codes to differentiate a hero member from legendary, such can be in form of additional colours lines or designs made or leave it as it has always been.
If you read several posts in this thread, less than 20 because it has only 1 page so far, you would know some facts
  • Animated avatars were allowed but disabled years ago. Because forum members saw animated avatars are annoying and the core admin (theymos) had the same opinion. He stepped in and code to detect all animated images for avatars and reject such images when people try to upload for their avatars. Only grandfather members still have animated avatars today. But if they take their avatars off, and upload same images again, forum will reject it.
  • Animated signatures would be more annoying than avatars so no chance to see allowance for it.

If you are curious, this one is for you.
Avatar space is not negotiable as I lose my animated avatar if I remove it.

Hero-Legendary rank member signatures tend to be same as far as most as most sign campaigns go. If animated signatures were to be possible, it should be available for legendary members to make the distinction between the two ranks. I'm interested in creativity signature creators will bring in as well.

It seems that I can already imagine the flashing animations, big Comic Sans Letters and RGB action in signature, replicated by x amount of users.
I'd much rather see very small images allowed in signatures. The current 4000 character limit produces HTML signatures up to 15 kB, while the artwork still fails in many browsers. Allowing 2 kB GIFs at the cost of 1000 characters would be a nice feature. Maybe for the next Rank if we ever get one Smiley

The day Bitcointalk allows animated signatures, is the day I'm going to enable "Don't show users' signatures".

Once in a while I see "the internet" without Adblock Plus and without "image.animation_mode once", and I hate it with a passion. I'm okay with some ads and some animations, but it quickly gets overused.

I do not think you can create animated signature but you can create animated avatar. Animated avatars are annoying and the more you see more people using it the more annoying the avatars become. Animated signature will be worst.
Animated signatures would be a nightmare. I mean so many people will even consider to quit the forum than see them. It will be as annoying as advert pop up on random websites.
It will be a very big distraction from reading and engaging in the forum. Just imagine reading a post and brainstorming on how to respond and some silly write up will slide from right to left, or zooming from now where. Oh no, that would be horrible.

Is it possible?

It is impossible and I guess you should know about this as you are not new members after that change.

Forum has many historic changes and animated avatar disabled is one of such changes.

It was overused in quantity and in the speed of animation too. Some animated avatars are cool, not annoying because of slow speed of animation.

Like this one from Vod. If signatures from signature campaigns have animations like Vod's avatar or even a bit faster, they are not too annoying.

Am sure this is coming from what you have seen (&  what i have seen) from other forums that use banners as their signatures.
Unfortunately here with limited space and BBcode restrictions not possible unless we have aPNG/GIF enabled in sig space...so not possible as answerd above.

Yes, you have said it all, I fully share this point of view.

Moreover, one might ask what the real added value of animated signatures would be? I'm not sure if it's necessary to overload the forum pages with useless info/designs, as the hero/legendary distinction is already made through the forum users's profiles and is clearly visible in every message posted.

Is it possible?
No, it is not allowed, even signatures are not dynamic on many browsers and many of them appear broken in some browsers, so you cannot get animated signatures. Absolutely no animation since there is no [img] tags.

In the past, BTT was sold some ads space ---> https://bitcointalk.org/ad_design.php , but it stopped now, and therefore there is no way to advertise using animation.

Is it possible?

It's not possible. I believe you already knew that for some reason but still decided to create a useless thread.
I mean, Let's say you did not know that. You can make it a little longer and tell us why you want to know that. Are you planning to create such an animated signature? Or you may want to wear an animated signature. Is it how you always create a thread?

I don't get it.
That's me, I want to know!
In Meta because of bold part, what do you think?
Recently moved from LastPass to bitwarden. Question remains same, what about users data if these services go offline for whatever reason?
...encrypt it and put it somewhere safe. Just so, if it goes offline your data remains safe.
Not a big deal, I'm just wondering.
..Supply if validators consent?

These are some of your threads did not add any value to the forum.
You need to follow LoyceV's Suggestion.

Initially it was possible until they were blocked at one point because of how annoying they were, and another issue was "cookie stuffing" (Not sure what that means)

Animated avatars were also disabled, except for the guys who had them before the new resolution was put in place. I think Yahoo, Ibminer, Vod and some other few members still have animated avatars

Nope, you can't use animated avatars anymore.

Animated avatars aren't supposed to be allowed, but I never got around to adding detection for the APNG ones. I'll look into it.
OK, APNGs are now detected. Old ones are grandfathered for now, in part because people have ongoing campaigns, but in the future I might (or might not) go through and remove them.

Nor animated signatures, since only plain bbcode is allowed there.
