ICO? Not even once.
Is there any easy way for nvidia (win 8 ) users to mine ETH these days ?
I mined ETH earlier on Linux and that sucked :/

Me too: Is there any easy way for nvidia ( win 7 ) to mine eth these days ?

For 750 Ti no, but for everything else it's just as easy as mining anything else.

http://cryptomining-blog.com/5352-some-updates-and-additional-tips-for-mining-ethereum/

970:
ethminer -F http://eth-mine.suprnova.cc:3000/login.worker/5 -U --cuda-grid-size 8192 --cuda-block-size 128

At +500 Mhz on the memory you get 19-21 Mh/s depending on memory type.

I sold five high end gpu:s in total and put some of that money in ETH. It is up like four times since then so i guess i am not that stupid.
I think a combo of mining smart and daytrading is the way to go if you dont have free electricity and a bunch of optimized miners.

I've been doing this for one year now and I can say it works at least for me. With 330€ it is much easier to daytrade 0.01 BTC/ day than buy GTX 970 and mine 0.01 BTC/ day with it. Dumped last of my BTC 6 weeks ago and been shorting since.

Sold all my 750's and bought higher end cards instead so I am doing something differently though haha! 10 cards brings 15€ profit per day + free heating on top of that.

My fork can be compiled for linux. Last checkin was 8 days ago, so it's still active. All algos are faster than the other forks as well..
But I do have some private miners  that are windows only.. I earn a few bitcoins so I can continue to improve the opensource miner.
A win win for the community..

Here is my todo list:

1. Optimize the Ether miner.
2. Refork ccminer 1.7.1 and replace all the kernals with mine. (This will remove the solomining bug and duplicate shares bug.)

Buy my private kernals to support the opensource project..

I have 4 private miners for the people who donate.

1. 0.1BTC: Pentablake +100-120%
2. 0.1BTC: Cryptonight +10%
3. 0.1BTC: Spreadcoin +10-20% (with full sourcecode / linux compatible)
4. 0.1BTC: All nicehash algos optimized. 0-7%

LINUX BINARY--

Please compile a Linux binary, at least for the number 4 Private Miner in your list.  I know that it is possible.  DJM34 sent a pre-release Linux binary copy of his first NeoScrypt CCminer to me.

You don't need to build a new Linux box, just set up a dual-boot system.  It takes maybe 16-32 GB at most, a partition or a flash drive.  It expands your support base; you will likely see ~0.5 BTC in the short run.

I am only able to use the Windows version of your Private Miner on one GTX 960 currently.       --scryptr

It's now clear that you can't "just mine".
You need to have at least two of the following:

- developer skills to make your own optimisations
- very cheap or free electricity
- time to follow the market closely and choose what to mine
- daytrading skills to inflate your profit (but then you could just buy, instead of mine)

I sold all my 970 and 980 cards, i got tired of the power bills and low profits.

Beginner's mistake. The profit is being moved from the small miners to the big miners. There is profit everywhere. You just need to know what to mine..

I think it is a good way to go.
Putting mined BTC in ETH during dips and sell at tops daytrading it a bit making the stack grow.
I think this will be a good year for ETH.

Thats what i think and hope anyway Smiley

Better to mine Etherum directly and dump for BTC. The same rig will do 0.02BTC if you have compute 5.2 cards. (gtx 950,960,970,980,980ti)

Ether is currently paying

Ether: 0,294BTC/GHASH   (650GHASH network hashrate (191BTC generated to the miners every day) ($72 618))
Quark:0.14BTC/GHASH

gtx 960@ether: 11MHASH (qtminer opencl)
gtx 960@quark: 11MHASH (spmod private #5)

gtx 970@ether: 21MHASH(oc) (genoils cudaminer)
gtx 970@quark: 20MHASH(oc) (spmod private #5)

I sold all my 970 and 980 cards, i got tired of the power bills and low profits.
Right now i am actually thinking this will be the year for ETH and not BTC so i will stick to that plan.

The biggest NVIDIA miner on nicehash is currently making around 1.44 BTC a day mining quark and lyra2v2 with the SP-MOD

https://www.nicehash.com/index.jsp?p=miners&a=12&addr=1GMy4ASNFDVdn3oLYsvgFX5H27Hx2v65Mv&l=0

But he could make 3BTC a day if he switched to Etherum..(1.5% of the global hash) What an idiot.. (Linux user)

New approach for me.
I sold all my high end cards and just made my remaining 750Ti:s super mobile.

Just one powercord and a wifi connection needed right now so i will move them around a bit.
It would be great to find a place with free electricity.

Anyway, right now this rig bring in around 0.01Btc per day on Quark @ Nicehash.
I will just leave it going and stack some ETH up from day to day with the BTC i make on it.

that is nice mate Wink ...

sp - what is the use for thefarm to have the private miners being windows only? ...

what is the use to have thefarm use miners that become outdated when you decide it is time to release - say ethereum - AFTER the rise of eth and mining? ...

i understand and appreciate - but as you have taken this direction with private miners - this excludes thefarm and anyone else in my position ...

this is NOT a debate about how good a developer you are - it is a situation where you would rather support those that would buy your miner - than those that would buy your miner AND donate to you in ways that most others cant ... with a farm ...

eth may be useless to thefarm when it comes time to release your public miner ...

i have ALL those miners you published above - and i cant use ANY - except spreadminer BACAUSE it has source AND you provided some support ... yet - i purchased them as a gesture of goodwill and a donation also ... same with the 0.3btc i purchased the other miner ( the name of the miner has slipped my mind for the time being ) even though it was a windows miner also ... added to the bag of miners that i purchase and NEVER use - all as a donation to you ...

now you WONT support linux and only release the private miners as windows ONLY? ...

i wont agree to that at all - and you are free to do what you will with YOUR code ... i am free to disagree and state my opinion of it all ... so is all good mate ...

You can always switch to windows for a 5-10% boost in the most profitable algos.

Sp-mod private #6 is soon ready for the donators. with a 1% boost in the quark algo..

0.1BTC to subscribe.

i wont do it mate ...

windows is not for me - and if you continue along this path - thefarm will have to move elsewhere ... and its growing - just at a standstill right now due to my personal changes at the moment ...

Curiously where are you going to go? I would like to know about competition you can purchase miners from...

LINUX BINARY--

It is possible to release a Linux binary, at least one compatible with a standard library setup for compilation.  This would make your Private Miner useful to more miners.       --scryptr

I've mined for years and I'm pretty sure the majority of miners are on Windows except for the really big farms, most of which have their own developers.

Ethereum is still hot BTW.

my wording was not clear - so ill re-iterate ...

thefarm will be moving 'support' for spmod to another miner / developer - IF support for thefarm is going to be heading in the direction of privatized windows miners only ...

i would not only use ccminer-spmod as the primary miner - but also donate in all forms ( from mining to deposits ) as a support for sp ... purchasing miners and software that cannot be used in thefarm - just as a support / donation ...

this will stop - ( again ) if the support for linux dries up with sp ...

a few percentage loss in hashrate is not a huge hit - nor is it a huge loss if im being 'forced' to move to an os like windows to use the private miners that sp has to offer ...

thefarm is morphing into one of these 'huge' farms you keep mentioning - and by the end of the year - the aim IS to be one of those huge farms ...

thefarm will lend its support to those that support it ... and yes - you are actually right - we will be looking for a dev to optimize internally AND maximize the output of thefarm when this happens ...

the watching from afar - and the respect for sp will still be there - but the lack of support for thefarm ( in terms of linux ) will be directly mirrored ...

my intention on WHERE to use thefarm and how to donate hashrate - will be a matter for me to decide - and develop ... but for now - its about growth and nothing less ... windows will not only stunt the growth - but become a costly burden - in terms of maintenance and service and licensing costs ...

as for the miners being mainly on windows - im glad you mentioned 'im pretty sure' - as i can attest that the largest systems that mine are certainly NOT on windows ... how do i know? ... well - i need prove no more than turn to the largest processing system on the planet ( which i have contacts within ) that use nothing else other than linux in its different flavors - and the developed apps they produce for it ...

some of these systems are the ones that you see mining with massive hashrates from time to time ...

windows isnt even on the radar ...

What are you guys getting on your GTX 960 mining ether? I get around 11MHASH with the opencl miner. and 10MHASH with genoils cuda port..

I tested 960 with my 1.0.1 last week @ 11MH/s. Perhaps the default grid/block sizes are suboptimal. Or 960 is a case where the current kernel has some optimization headroom.

Time to move all the compute 5.2 devices in my farm to Etherum

Ether is currently paying

Ether: 0,294BTC/GHASH   (650GHASH network hashrate (191BTC generated to the miners every day) ($72 618))
Quark:0.14BTC/GHASH

gtx 960@ether: 11MHASH (qtminer opencl)

gtx 970@ether: 21MHASH(oc) (genoils cudaminer)
gtx 970@quark: 20MHASH(oc) (spmod private #5)

I will double my profit.
