Hey OP, are you from the U.S.?  I'm thinking that the name alone could make this immediately illegal in the U.S.

I believe you're over-thinking it, the Fed doesn't hold a trademark on the word Penny or the word Cent. Aside from the penny icon (fair use, its a digitally edited image), there's nothing that states these are actual US Currency or a replacement their of.

While it is illegal to make your own "currency", Its fully legal to use any form of the barter system you'd like in the US (virtual-cryptocurrency included) but if you cash out (or buy in), you'd better pay your taxes. This applies to ALL crypto-currency.

lol penny is not trademarked, its fine to use.

Make a 2 dollar bill one... ill mine that.. i have jars of pre 82 copper pennies already Tongue

Did penny even originate in the US, i thought the Uk had it before? so yeah i'm pretty sure anyone can use the word. Coin looks interesting, although hard to mine. 4 x i5 and not one penny as yet.

Syncing for ages and still some 6k blocks left.

Anybody spare a few pennies please PSGWzpTwSjXQUBjBdkDUFmKT1TqVqjhywT

You'll take my 2cents and you'll like it!  Grin

The number of blocks left jumped to 9k  Huh

This is very weird. I may never get to mine this at a reasonable difficulty Sad

Full source is included, 2 lines down from where you downloaded that file. Doesn't anyone read the full pages anymore? You can roll your own:
