Wait a minute, are you one of the members from those groups based in Indonesia? Recently there were discussions about bounty hunter groups and I happened to see some images of them that are looking to seek financial freedom.

Don't mind yeah, I'm just curious.  Grin
Lol.. even in forum we find racist guy like you. Don't be so arrogant we were all humans, but not thesame mentality. Some people were born smart and rich and some were not.
What's being negative about bounty hunter ? Think how they build this community without bounty hunters ? No companies would be promoted all alts would never introduced fast.
Just to make it clear to you I'm not an indonesian.. but Im an asian Arabs were better than white people.

It's been years since then I had a group called bounty hunters, luckily that's the reason why I'm here posting, reading etc..etc..that time evil IP wasn't implemented so it's so easy to create accounts. I also invited my friends to create an account to earn (main purpose) sorry just being honest.. but they were too late for free access maybe our country was automatically restricted for joining the forum because of spams..
To make it clear I had already created my alt account, but I've just abandoned it because of Evil IP payments  Grin Grin Also I can't even remember it.

That's only if that IP address has "evil points" so to speak. You could try creating an alt to find out but if you're using your main without such issues, the same should apply to your second.

But before that, you should be an established member of this forum.
I do not think one needs to be an established member of the forum inorder to get their display name changed as I've seen the case of very be members having hie request granted 'cause they had a good enough reason; that factor seems to overrides being an established member in the eyes of the admin.

Change a name is possible but quite complicated. Recently I have changed username although not big differences except uppercase and lowercase. But as a general user, we can't change it at any time. You have to write theymos with reasonable reasons to change the username. If he thinks your request is reasonable then most likely he could consider it. But before that, you should be an established member of this forum.

It's actually a question that make me have to tell you and others a very personal reason in my real life. So at the moment I don't think that I should tell you what the reason is, if not for privacy I have requested a change of my username by creating a thread.  Wink

Gotcha

Additionaly, creating a new account would cost me a payment for IP address am I right ? So why would I do that if I already have an account that could access me free here. Also nothing would change my account is still a newbie. Creating a new one would just waste my time  Undecided

So the bottom line is, OP, if you're even thinking about asking Theymos to let you change your username as a Newbie, forget about it.  If it's something you really want to do, just create another account and start fresh.

Not even thinking about it, username is not really that important for me, I just wondered on how they do it, because I couldn't find settings for editing the username, and wondered why others already changed their usernames. That's what I'm thinking lately... but thanks for all the informative replies I've figured it out ..

You can not change your username if you are not donators, VIP members or you don't have big contributions in the community.

The exception is if your username has personal information that can put you under dox attack. I think your username is not this case.
Done. Now only moderators, Donators, and VIP members can change their names automatically. Other members should contact me. I'll probably ignore your request if you have less than 50 posts (unless your posts are very good).

You can't. You can try PM an admin and they may do it, but they usually don't. You can just create another account  with that name if you feel like you need it.

Previously I also sent a PM to theymos to change my username (more than 1 year ago) but until now he never replied to my PM and nothing has changed. I had reason to change my username, but it was never approved until now. I don't mind if theymos don't approve it for free although I still want it to this day.

If you don't mind me asking, what was the reason?

Let alone account that are still rated newbie, there are many case of high ranking members also having to forget about it because theymos doesn't approve of it. The Pharmacist, you are the only one I know, after me.

If one has good reasons, they can ask theymos. I don't think he accepts any username changes lately.
Yeah, I'd imagine your reasons would have satisfy Theymos and not be trivial.  Coolcryptovator recently got his name changed to all-caps because he had some sort of telegram impersonator, whereas I couldn't get my username changed because, well, I had no reason other than I just wanted it changed.  I'd imagine that Theymos gets lots of requests for name changes and if he started granting them to everyone who asked, it'd turn into a full-time job.

Besides, as mentioned it used to be something that was reserved for donators.  It would suck for prior donators to the forum if suddenly Theymos started granting name changes to anyone who asked (even though 50BTC was worth a hell of a lot less back then, it was still money out of one's pocket).

I figure that you a referring to a proposal made on Meta by @hugeblack over a year ago:Change account Username/Name. It’s not something that really takes place though.

As to the list, it’s better to leave it be. Even though things are pretty much traceable here, they changed it for a reason, and since it was granted, they may not wish to flourish the link between the old username and the new username.

One of the oddest name changes I’ve seen recently is by a user who has changed the username from first cap + rest lower case, to all uppercase. The username is therefore read and spelled the same, but all in caps now.

If your reason for wanting a name change is valid, you don't need to be a VIP or Donator to see it become a reality. I remember a case I think from 2019 or 2020. A guy registered an account and for his username he put an email address that contained his real name. That constitutes a valid reason a name change could be granted because you don't want your identity leaked or linked to a forum account. Especially for something as sensitive as crypto.

Agreed. I mean the process is reserved for special cases as previously mentioned, just that it becomes an annoyance when people start making such trivial requests, and it's pretty obvious scammers/ dupes would want to abuse this.

I found one which was dated back in 2019. Depending on the circumstances of theymos' mood, a name change request could be granted provided you have a good reason.

Recently I remember there was a merit requirement (I think it was 500 or more) for changing your forum name but I don't know if they still grant those requests up until now though.

Unfortunately I couldn't find the post but I only knew this because there was a thread/list about users that changed their name.

Kinda cool theymos allowed a change in your name being as I thought that was reserved for VIPs or donators only.
From what I've seen, theymos sometimes grants wishes. It might be a name change, or a custom title. The more he recognizes your name, the better your odds are Smiley

I like to believe I'd qualify for a custom title if I ask, but right now it's like Schrödinger's cat: as long as I don't ask, I may or may not qualify Cheesy

I'm not agree with it creating accounts, could led us to be red tagged.
You are not going to get negative trust for having multiple accounts. There is no rule against it. DT users tag those who misuse their accounts and perform actions they shouldn't. That includes enrolling those accounts in the same signature campaign, meriting your alts from your main account or vice versa, giving yourself fake positive trust, etc.

Having fake conversations and talking to yourself should also be a reason people get a negative tag, but I don't think that is the case. There have been cases where you can observe the same person making a post or asking a question and his alt answers. They do it to phish for merits or increase their post count.

I'm not agree with it creating accounts, could led us to be red tagged. Most of users here only create new accounts when they're main account get a red tag, especially scammers.

Alts are fine if you are using them for separate purposes, as isaac has mentioned.

Optimally, tag that alt account with a neutral trust. You can see this on LoyceV's alt account

Well scammers are entirely a different discussion. If a certain user is a scammer, they don't deserve any place or a name in here. They will get tagged along with their alt.

You can have an alt for multiple purposes. I'll quote one reply I remember from DdmrDdmr in B&H that pretty much sums it up for good reasons to have alts.
Alt accounts can be created for numerous purposes, not necessarily related to anything wrongful, such as (but not limited to):

-   Separating a bounty account from a discussion account.
-   Separating a business account from a discussion account.
-   Distinguishing between when one is fully focused in their posting, from when one is posting on the move.
-   Separating the main account from other accounts related to building services around the forum (i.e. scrapers, legit bots, etc.).
-   Shielding behind a new account to express opinions or report on accounts, while not wanting this to be linked to the main account.
-   One can have multiple accounts to enrol in different campaigns, providing the rules are met and the ethics clean and square (as I mentioned previously).

I’ve got a couple Alts I recall: One to scrape information from the forum, and another to block the name from being used by anybody else (both with 0 post).

I edited my first reply to the OP, since I don't think that's the answer s/he is looking for.
