Something I do when assembling a miner is to use an eraser on all the contacts to remove any oils or corrosion/oxidation. I suppose a normal pencil eraser would work in a pinch, but I always keep stand-alone erasers on hand. You know.......the rectangular erasers an inch or so wide and a couple of inches long and maybe 3/8th thick.

OMG this is one of the best advices im getting these days, thanks a lot Xardas2014 it worked like a charm on one of my old cards

I am having an issue mining. I have been using Claymore 12.4 miner and its been working over the past couple days however today its showing its mining but its not submitting any shares. I have tried rebooting the PC, using different pool, changed driver to 16.2.3 but nothing seems to work when using claymore 12.4.

If I use genoil it submits shares.

Any suggestions to make this work on claymore 12.4?

My Sapphire 280x toxic cards continue to hang almost every hour or two. I tried every possible settings for power, clocks, intensity, VM set to 24 GB and nothing works. Most of the cases -wd 1 or -r 0 options manage to restart the miner but sometimes the zecminer window is frozen, I can't even manually or with killing with the task manager close it. Is there a script that can recognize when a zecminer window is not responding and then restarting the windows? I know that -r 1 can restart but I don't want to do it so often. It will waste too much time since in 4 out of 5 cases -r 0 does the job.

I have 6 of these cards. 1150 core, 1500 mem, 15.12 drivers, Win 10, 60% fan are the best IMO. They do consume a lot of power so make sure you have a good PSU(s) and that has a good over head of power.
5 x 280x Vapors and a 7990 at these settings use 1557watts for ZEC.

12.1, even 11.xx is the same story

Nearly every time I have an issue like yours I'm able to fix it by turning off the rig, unplug the video cards from the risers, unplug the risers from the mother board, unplug the pcie cables from the video cards, unplug the pcie cables from the psu. Next I put it all back together and assure very good connections. The has fixed my issues every time.

What I usually do is simply shit it down and re affirm all connections but I follow the above procedure if just re seating all cables without disconnecting everything fails.

Anyone have any idea what's the best driver for rx480 for windows? I have a problem with all ReLive drives with my custom bios(signature check re-enabled) and the 16.12.2 also don't work with custom bios, only with 16.11.5. Any difference between them? Or suggest me another bios for stability. Thanx

I use 16.12.1 with my 480s and followed this link to disable that sig-check: https://www.techpowerup.com/228536/amd-bios-signature-check-re-enabled-with-relive-locks-out-polaris-bios-modders

Of course this does require Windows 10 64 bit for it to work..

Is it normal for the wattage to slowly increase the longer you run the miners. And is it normal for the wattage to go up and down in a range and not a constant rate. This happens on all algos but for ZEC it will start around 540 watts go between say 580 and 540 then range will slowly will go over 600 watts. My PSU is 600w EVGA bronze which  I is why I'm concerned. Is this normal or is there something wrong. Also is 550 to 600 watts normal for 3 470's, seems high.

i heard the 470s run at around 90 watts each. What CPU do you have? take one card out and measure again. The difference is what the card is using. High end CPUs may run at over 200 watts

The CPU is amd fx 6200, it is rated as 125w.  I was figuring 100 for each GPU and 125 for CPU should be 425 but it runs close to 600.

Your system without cards draw up to 180-200watt with this CPU, add 140 watt per card, total 180+420 , its 600. All is correct. You can undervolt cards to get 110-120 watt power draw per card.
My rig 6*470s runs at 850watts

I have a 1000w psu 6 x 470 8gb, was running fine before with older claymore version but now I have to unplug 1 card for it to stay on...I think its the watts, 140watts x 6 = 840 + 200w for the rest of the parts....

Don't know how to under vault, have not really looked into it.

You can use the MSI afterburner to undervolt.

So I can undervolt without changing bios? Thought it was locked.

It is locked by default , but in options menu it can be unlocked

I will check that out, thank you...

yes, efficiency is higher at lower temps and system will draw more power as heat builds

Anybody tried the Biostar TB250 mobo?

I was thinking of trying it out but thought maybe you guys already had and have any advise

Thanks...
Have absolutely same question. Some RXs are shipping towards me and expect them next week. Does anybody tried this mobo with 5/6 gpus on?

Mine for a Bit
If anyone can give some information on how to undervolt I would be very grateful.

Saphire rx470 8gb cards.

Here is what I do to get 28MHs+ on my MSI RX470 gaming X 4gb Hynix .  (Find out what type of chip you have in the GPU - You do different processes for each)

1) In ATIwinflash save your base bios:  Open atiwinflash and hit save.  Save the file.

2) Strapping:  Open Polaris Bios Editor and on the timing (MHz) copy the 1500 data to the three settings larger than 1500. On Samsung you will copy the 1750 timing to the larger values.  Watch this video that shows you how to strap.  I did the same method:  https://youtu.be/OP_zSP2H6ho  This will get you 23.5mhs per gpu.

2) On the MSI Afterburner I set the Memory Clock to 2000 and the Core Clock to 1150(up to about 1275) and press the check(Apply).  This should get you the 28mhs.

3) Now I go to WattTool and look at the numbers for each gpu individually.  In this case for gpu "0:Radeon (TM) RX 470 Graphics" look at the mV number in "R7" = 1150mV.  I do not want this number less than 1000mV.  This is just my preference.  Look at the Voltage Offset.  Whatever number you put in here it will be multiplied x 6.25 so, 20 x 6.25 = 125.  1150 - 125 = 1025mV(which is above 1000)  so this one would be -20 and then click "Set"  This gpu should now produce much lower watts.

4) Go to the next gpu and evaluate the number and make the changes in the Voltage Offset based upon the mV number in "R7."  Each gpu will be different.

Good Luck

Let me know if you have more questions.

Can I undervolt without messing around with the polaris bios editor?

I am happy with the speed, just want to undervolt.

Thanks for the information, I will give it a go.

Yes, just start at step 3

hawer183, I have never had that happen to me.

Try go through your setup all over again and make sure no software is getting in the way of your miner.

Maybe someone else can help you out with this one because I am not 100% sure, sorry.
