I believe they did that kind of distribution to hide the real remainings, which now I assume to be something like 5% of all the holdings, or less.

kumala if you are reading you should translate "with significant unrecoverable losses" into percentage:

what % of LTC is missing, what of BTC, FTC, TRC.

at least people can figure out what's the best strategy to adopt here. everybody going bonkers and printing crazy prices (or maybe not, it all depends on the %)
I think it was approximately the equivalent of 2 500 btc and 20 000 usd they lost about a year ago you can read some about it in there shareholders qarterly repports here https://vircurex.com/welcome/investors or search biitcointalk for additional info about it.

By the way Kumala the Feb 2014 repport that should have been published the first week in mars is still Missing

why didn't they do a proportional distribution of what was left? I had all my holdings frozen. this is unbelievable. at least they u should have left something to everybody so they could continue trading. this was not fair at all. quite disappointed about the way they managed all this. I won't move a btc or ltc back to vircurex. I'm finished here unless I have some of my frozen holding released.

Right. They should leave some.
The original announcement said every month some profit will go into defreezing. Guess you will have to wait for that. I wonder if you have more than 1 BTC in balance if you will get your 6-hourly "interest".  Roll Eyes

Yeah, it sucks. I don't see much future for Vircurex.

Still waiting on 0.57842483 BTC from a failed withdrawal on Wednesday. Doesn't show up either in Vircurex or at destination address.

Some tiny balances from referrals have been released though.

I got the exact same situtaion - I have no idea what is going to happen to those failed tx.
I believe that the stuck funds are not part of this "mitigation" plan - and someone has to deal with them manually, and that is very bad, since there is absolutely no support from Vircurex.

Well well! now they open it!
What a assholes, of course that yesterday trades give them a lottt of money from all the shitty coins arbitrage.
I lost some money from that act! and  many others!
I wonder if it was worth for them because now they are burned forever.  if they did it probably it was worth ...

Sunday I made my first transaction on Vircurex.... could not get the 1.5 BTC back to my wallet. Now it's frozen. A nice welcome for new traders.

Hope this situation won't take too long, so I can trade and pay the fees that will contribute to solve this problem. Freezing the accounts will not make them money, it will only fill their cold wallet with money they took from their clients. The clients that made this Exchange possible.

Now let's see if they will pay a reasonble intrest over the frozen money. As we are forced to be investors we may expect that

When I traded BTC for an alt coin yesterday, I knew I was losing BTC and overpaying due to inflated ask prices but I thought that by doing so, I can then sell the alt on another exchange or hold for the future instead of losing stuck BTC like Gox victims did.   A day later there's an announcement:

Quote
The migration of the account balances has been completed, deposits and withdrawals are activated again...
Update
We will regularly publish updates here on the number of accounts affected

All in all we have a bit over 90,000 registered users and accounts. Due to the freeze and the subsequent distribution of the available funds, a large number of accounts have been restored to their rightfull account balance, some unfortunately remain frozen for the time being and will over time be released as and when funds become available. Here the number of accounts with a frozen balance:

As of 25. March 2014:
BTC: 355 accounts
LTC: 1,563 accounts
TRC: 77 accounts
FTC: 42 accounts

Now alt coin prices are back down to normal, so even if I want to trade back to BTC, I lose money again.   I didn't expect withdrawals to be reenabled so fast...did some traders have inside knowledge that the freeze on most accounts would last just 1 day and they took advantage of this, or did Vircurex management profit not only from the increased trading volume's fees, but also to buy up discounted BTC?

Does anybody knows were we can keep track of the "frozen" BTCs, and how much did you guys lost? I think I may have lost 0.1 of 1.5 BTC ( I dont have my maths fully checked at the moment)

https://vircurex.com/accounts

My LTC has moved from "Balance" to "Frozen Balance"

BTW some people probably made some nice coin from this, IF you could find the right combination of coins to trade and wallets that allowed withdrawal. I found an arbitrage opportunity where it was possible to convert DVC to NXT on vircurex, then convert NXT back to DVC on another exchange, growing the amount by about 10% in the process. That op closed up within about 20 mins.

They are now 'open' again.  All of my FTC was available to me and I pulled it.  I has arrived at it's destination so the withdrawals are working for FTC.
