No chance involved.  I have mined on giga's, bitminter and ghash.
Switched across 75% of my hashpower to BTCGuild and have not looked back.  I intend to keep them there for their remaining useful life.
I am watching the worms as to when to permanently move across my remaining 25%

Well. That was exactly when I switched across to btcguild. Remained a steady 103 +/- 0.7% luck ever since.

So, you find yourself wagering on the flip of a coin...

Do you call the opposite side on each flip because there is a 50/50 chance of heads/tails? If that strategy happens to work does that make you right?

Ha ! So I can't pick the bottom, say the lowest point on the luck worm like 7th Nov, and hop across to btcguild. That wouldn't have worked as one needs to earn in over 10 shifts. Now it doubly won't work !

Well, that and statistically you would be no better off jumping on board when their luck had been down.  Past luck gives absolutely no predictive insight into future luck.

But nice try  Wink

Thank you eleuthria

Would it be fair to assume the pool stats (Particularly the luck worm) show the most recent blocks (as opposed to just closed shifts) ?

Luck is based on closed shifts (again, luck is only known once the shift was closed).  Each point of data on the luck graph represents the luck for a shift.  The graph checks for any recently closed shifts every 15 minutes to post to the luck graph, so it can be a little out of date depending on when the last shift closed vs the last time the graph checked to be updated.

A warning to Chinese users who read the forum:

I know many users in China are using proxies to access BTC Guild.  If you have to use a proxy to access BTC Guild - run your own wallet and LOCK YOUR WALLET or your account details might as well be posted in the clear for all to see.

Could you tell me what is the time period used for the "24 hour earnings" box at the top ?
I notice the past 2 hours have been good luck, but my 24 hour earnings have fallen in the same interval.
It would also appear that blocks do not appear on the "your recent block rewards" until one subsequent block has been accepted to the blockchain ?

As stated above, the 24 hour earnings at the top is calculated in two ways (depending on payment method):

For PPLNS, it uses the last 24 hours of CLOSED shifts only, since open shifts aren't done getting paid.  Think of it as taking your last 32 hours worth of earnings roughly, and then chopping off the open shifts.  You get a full 24-hour worth of rewards included in the statistic, it's just related to the mining you did slightly earlier.

For PPS, it uses your share submissions over the last 24 hours multiplied by the current PPS rate.  So normally it's dead accurate.  The only time it's off is when the difficulty changes, since it uses the *current* PPS rate.

And you're correct, recent block rewards aren't updating until a subsequent block is found.  This is temporary, and it's due to that bug when the NMC chain was hardforked and random servers stopped updating to the most recent blockchain.  It hasn't repeated itself yet, but I'm wanting to wait another week or two before I turn off the workaround, just to be safe.

Don't just stop at freezing the account. You might as well steal any BTC that are not withdrawn. Also send some threatening emails to the account owner.

It's good you are just a random voice that no one listens to Smiley

Yeah, freezing the account is a fine for being a cunt.  Civility doesn't cost anything.  You should take note.

Maybe you should apply for a position where you would decide who is being a cunt and get his account frozen  Wink
Most probably within a month the pool's active users would drop by 50%  Grin

BTC Guild has no support staff for one simple reason:  I do not trust ANYBODY with ANY access to account information.

This could be dangerous if the NSA (or other three letter agencies) decides to make you disappear.

Or driving for 9 hours puts him over the hedge. Sad

eleuthria, I think if anyone was giving me lip via email, they'd find their account permanently frozen.

so your saying its ok for eleuthrea to get threatening emails(yes he does get some for no good reason) . but not ok for him to say go else ware your not wanted..  sorry your in the real world now co's can choose who and who not to serve to.   for example Microsoft and Playstation if you get your account banned and have a balance do you get refunded?Huh... the answer is NO.

example   http://psx-scene.com/forums/f177/refund-balance-psn-wallet-81518/

HellDriverUK....

I totally agree I would 100% do the same but eleuthria is nicer than us Smiley

I have personally seen some of the odd requests and demands he has had... I was like WOW these people really do live outside of I.T. support (used to work in IT).

But anyway I can name at least 50 co's that might take more than 48 hrs to respond to an email over the holidays that are much bigger. for example I have submitted a RMA to asus and the last email I got off them was the 23rd and I am thinking no big deal its the holidays it will get resolved in the end.

Or thinking bitcoin I can name a few bitcoin co's that can take a week's to answer questions.

and eleuthria knows me so he knows I would be a LOT harsher in my answers.

Oh I miss the 2011 days of bitcoin....

My bet is that 24 hours is used to calculate 24 hour earnings.  If your 24 hour earnings go down after 2 hours of good luck, then the other 22 hours were not so lucky perhaps.

You sound like a person, who if given the power to decide if the pool should get a quicker and better customer support service would decide against it.
The fact is that the pool has a very big profit margin and could afford such a thing.

I got two emails over the holidays from people who really deserved to be publicly ridiculed for how absurd their demands/requests were, and some of that frustration leaked into the post.

These is one of the many evidence of the infectious "entitlement attitude" of the Obama generation showing its ugly head. Much like those bitches who complaining (and even threaten to sue) about not getting their UPS packages before Christmas.

This post is pointless. It has nothing to do with the original post at hand and is only fueling some abstract debate that is irrelevant.
