I guess someone is digging its own grave..!!

I find it stupid that your true (small) miners who made your pool what it is today are victum of your succes

Why not tell some big guys to move over..

Time to leave after all these years of good mining at your pool ..it sucks to be forced the fuck off..

GL

your not being forced anywhere you could always just upgrade your software and use strtum i dont see the issuse except maybe lazyness on gateway users part.

A Ddos is not a solution, and i hate the ddos attacks, but a fee its too not a solution and the new fee its abusive.

Huh? Supply & demand.

eleuthria has done an exceptional job at building a reliable pool for which there is a high demand. There is a cost to eleuthria for building and maintaining his pool. Even ignoring the 51% thing, it's reasonable that the price can increase.

As expected, some people have decided that the solution to a fee increase is to attempt to DDoS the pool.  Sorry for the connectivity issues the last 30 minutes.  Things should be back to normal at the moment.

SSL issues should be over now (they were issuing a temporary certificate after I turned on SSL).  If you close your browser and open it again, it shouldn't be showing any warnings anymore.  Site is loading a lot faster now than it was through the use of reverse proxies before.

would it be possible to implement an email alert when a specific worker goes down after a set threshold in Mhash?

I'm testing CloudFlare on the website.  SSL is currently a bit screwy.  The cloudflare cert you're seeing is OK.

PPS Fee has now been increased to 7.5%.  This was done by moving all shares submitted this difficulty (10076292) down to difficulty 10076291, so you will get a few satoshis extra for work done so far this difficulty.  All new PPS shares submitted will now be credited as 7.5% fee at the current difficulty.

New proxy for the website is running, should be a bit faster than it has been the last 24 hours.  I've also optimized a few pieces of the website to cache values and speed up the load time of some pages.  There were previously a lot of earnings detail being calculated/stored regardless of the page you were looking at due to the 24H earnings statistic.  24H earnings is now cached for 30 minutes at a time, and the other earnings/payout information is only generated on pages which require it.

Website is a bit laggy because during the attack I had to toss up a very quick low end VPS to run as a new proxy to the backends.  Whenever the pool is attacked, I use these lower end proxies because they are quick and easy to launch, and do not hit the pocketbook too hard like Amazon EC2 does.

I'm working on launching a new proxy today that should speed up the load times.

Btcguild page works on and off, I have to retry at least 10 times until it finally loaded, it seems that you are still under attack Sad

Sorry for the website downtime earlier, which also affected ~50% of getwork users.  The 'www' subdomain was attacked, and being on the same switch as getwork caused both to go down.  I moved www to a new proxy server and nullrouted the old IP about 30 minutes ago.  Everything looked fine, but I missed one of the access methods.  btcguild.com worked, https://btcguild.com worked, https://www.btcguild.com worked, but just plain www.btcguild.com did not work.  That has been fixed.

Mining since May 2011.
PPS is something I've been growing a bit concerned with as prices rose.  Those who have read Meni's paper on bankruptcy at PPS fees and the buffers required know that even at 5%, a very large buffer of coins is required to reduce the odds of bankruptcy to near-0.  It's quite frankly very intimidating to need to keep so many coins in reserve at $100+/coin, when only a few months ago it was less than 1/5th the USD$ value.
For the curious you can use Wolfram Alpha to compute the buffer from Meni's paper. At 5% PPS, with a 1 in 1000 risk of ruin, you need 1,726 BTC in reserve. Replace the '1000' and the '0.05' in that URL to change the risk of ruin and percentage fee respectively.
Is this the paper you are referring to?

Huge burst of packet loss to my server in Dallas which runs the website proxy.  I'm hoping its datacenter related, but it could be a DDoS starting up.
