Finally, after all the setup hassle, got my Cube up and running at 38GHs High clock with 98% efficiency.
Surprisingly mine arrived without any loose part or X's chip.
Used different kind of power supplies and finally get two to work.

Corsair CX430M -No
Corsair HX750 - No
Seasonic X-1050 - No
Thermaltake TR2-700 - Yes
Corsair GS800 - Yes

Anyway, does anyone successfully run it with bfgminer or raspberry pi?

every cube sent had one or more misaligned boards
use  a roll of paper towels and some antistatic bubble wrap to push the boards out
Thanks for the pics philip.
Du u have a link to a cheap PSU I can quickly get from best buy or any other B&M store?
What's this plug you are using? What is it for?

yes buy an external fan like this

http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B009OWRMZ6/ref=s9_simh_gw_p60_d0_i1?pf_rd_m=ATVPDKIKX0DER&pf_rd_s=center-2&pf_rd_r=11281RHPP98P0XWTJ15V&pf_rd_t=101&pf_rd_p=1630083502&pf_rd_i=507846

dismount the internal fan.  mount this externally and this will blow 2x the air.

or leave the internal fan in
place and add the one above.

or stack 4 cubes into a square and mount this against them

just a fast google and you could find one for under 20 bucks.

Mine won't start without a 3 pin fan attached internally?  I just figured it was a safety feature.  I tried to put 110CFM delta fans inside but they are 2 pin.

Question for Cube owners who have had them apart.

Do the heat sinks have thermal paste on them or ?

Thanks,

It has thermal pad underneath the heatsink.

Has anyone removed it and stuck some arctic silver on there?  I presume these have heat sensors that throttle?

in my experience if it has a thermal pad switching to paste is not that good of an idea.  one reason a pad is used it to match less then perfect chip face to less then perfect heatsink.   if you replace with paste  you are worse off.  unless you buff out the heat sink and the chip to mate closer… problem with that is the chip may not sand up to the smoothing out of it.
Do this first:

make sure the heatsink is tight and consider a better fan. leave the pad alone.

if a no go then try a higher quality thermal pad .

BTW  what is the thermal pad and is there a better pad out there for this gear?

That my reason for the question. Is there a better way to remove heat? Assuming the cheapest method was used and not the most efficient is it worth "fixing" so they can run at high clock speeds without harming the components.

Hi guys,
I received my Cube an hour ago. Had my power supply ready to boot it up. When I boot it up, a few seconds later, it produce a "click" sound then turn itself off along with the power supply. Tried it couple times but no luck. I am using a Corsair CX430M power supply. It only has 1 PCI-E connector, so I use another 2x molex to PCI-E connector. I also try with another 2x molex and 1x molex but still... To me it seems like the power supply problem. Any help?

Here is the link to the power supply at Newegg:
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817139049&Tpk=cx430m

Did you first open up and verify no loose screws, that the heat sinks are on tight and boards are seated correctly?

The PS may not have enough juice. Only 12v is being used and their spec's on the label/box lie. I had the same issue with 49 port hub. The PS was rated for 38amps on 5v. But it didn't supply enough. I had to remove 1/3 of the usb miners to get it running which indicated it was only supplying 20amps at best. Oversize and go up to the 750 or get one of the dedicated 12volt and make your own cables.

Make sure you are using a single rail PSU or know what the amperage on each rail is.  This causes issues with some cheap PSU's.

I've used a dozen Corsair AX1200's for over 2.5 years.  It's a single 12v rail. I power 4 cubes with one, 6 chili's with one, I've powered 5-6 GPU's each.  Never had a single issue with these.

I guess I will just get a better power supply. Thought of getting a second unit anyway. Thank you.

Maybe it's just me, but I have had zero hardware problems with all of the cubes I've ordered from both Canary and SSB. I feel like you guys all have mail carriers that kick around all of the packages before they get to your house.

I've had only a single bad chip (not board or cube) and it is only bad on high clock.  Everything else worked flawless out of the box, no tightening, tinkering or anything else.  The unit with a single bad chip still performs better on high clock without that chip than on low clock with it.

Keep them cool and keep an isolated hot side cold side for airflow and these are solid.

I pay for the USD equivalent of the BTC value in insurance which usually cuts down on the box kicking from USPS.

A 20-50 pound box that is uninsured or under-insured will usually get dropped, thrown or kicked during it's travels.  A 20-50 pound box that is insured for a few thousand dollars usually gets hand carried on it's journey.  "Usually"

(I do plan to tear one down and replace the fan with a much higher end model and replace whatever TIM is used between the chip and the heat-sink to push a little more power out of these)
