I guess no one has noticed and posted this so, I'll be posting it.

I've noticed that there's a messenger icon beside the search box and it's the new feature they have released, the chat. It requires logging in so you can chat with specific communities for each coin. There are channels made already there and you can join for those channels that you hold the coin. I didn't noticed that it was already announced last June 11.

Thanks for bringing this to our notice, I did not even take note of this feature maybe because I use coingecko most often than cmc, however, I think that's a really cool feature to add to cmc, this will give users the opportunity to chat with like minded users holding same coins or tokens in a specific group chat greated for the coin, I like the idea, I think many people will find it interesting as well.

nice feature, and I have tried to create an account to try the chat feature. First impressions are quite good, it's just that I'm a little confused to add channels because in the channel recommendations I didn't find the coins that are being owned.
As far as I can see, only the top altcoins in this market are listed in this chat channel. And I believe that in the coming days other altcoins will also be listed here, relax and enjoy

What is the purpose of this chat? At first look it looks like a new Telegram, but when already there are chat groups that represent coins, why we need another site?
It's probably part of the new management of CMC. As you know it was taken into new management by CZ's company, Binance. Being the leading crypto exchange and aware of some struggles in the community which they can take into account.

They want to be as telegram and also provide the same feature of giving crypto prices to the community. And that means people who visit CMC don't have to go through telegram channels if they have already the community built on CMC.

That's a very good development from their part. That will help getting responses from enquiries quickly unlike telegram and mail that might not be replied in days.

Thanks for the share up and i didnt even noticed it too when im surfing on coinmarketcap site several times in past days upto now.If you havent it mentioned then i would definitely not able to know.
This is actually a good add up on the site which is way more better rather than hanging out into those telegram groups that do talks about market prices etc. We know that there are lots of people
whom do rely into this site in checking out prices and do give out their sentiments or views towards on co-users of the site.It isnt actually a bad feature but not also that a good one but
its better to have this way.

It is good that they integrate chat feature also on this site.
But to check for specific updates or discussion on a certain coin, I think they have their own socmed channels already.
Which I think is more comprehensive. So in cmc, it is more on throwing opinions and speculations.
I have seen a lot of channels created already. But the in depth discussion can be found I think is still on their own channels not in cmc.

Still, I didn't check properly but I think this could be a valuable feature for us. In a telegram group you can't chat about every detail with others, telegram group only can help you with positive sides. In a telegram group you haven't full freedom when we're in a decentralized cryptocurrency.

Its a good addition to engage into price and development discussions out there. It is kinda new so don't have any much members but I still think its useless given there is telegram channels or other chat platform channels to discuss. Second is moderation, Is chat messages being moderated there? I hardly think so. It would be a big problem since it would allow scammers to promote some shady sites or push in some malicious files.

Also did not notice this option, thanks.  A useful option in my opinion, that is, you can chat in the chat of each project.  Now I will register and I will read the news about different companies.

Yeah. A lot of people visit CMC for reference about coins and chat would give them a quick view of different ideas and opinions about coins. How the chat is moderated would also make the difference as large moderation may bring manipulation rather than thought sharing. I hope they won't be like moderated threads by projects here.

What's the communities like? Does this invalidate project social media handles or what exactly does it contribute to the project because I'm sure every project has their own social media outlet where people chat about the project. Launching this feature by CMC does it create a separate chat for projects or its a collective chat?

This new feature from coinmarketcap, and I've just seen it doesn't take it too seriously, it might take time to be more useful. quite interesting, because by clicking on hashtag and joining some members who are online and start discussing something or just joking.

I too noticed it and let's try.
They need user to login and they have different chatrooms. Most of them are rooms for specific coins but not all. Maybe another strategy to earn money from projects listing their room. It's also a better place to learn about interest of users and send them personalized ads.
They are using some external service called sendbird, so your chat are also going to other parties.

Adding this chat feature is good but I do think it is need more on exchange than coinmarketcap, I could be wrong this could help to build a strong community of traders like that of trading view, if the team can continue to sustain its development because I feel the previous team sold it because they think they can grow it further

Yes, that feature would be more helpful. Now it seems every coin has its own community. So everyone can make a discussion about the coin with their community. Coinmarketcap has been doing very well by implementing new features.

Data is the new oil.
Yes, as the typical sayings, if you use a service for free - you are the product.

Really weird and unnecessary feature. Are they try to bait you to set up an account at there, to log your information on viewing crypto on coinmarketcap just because you want to chat? Or they trying to bring coinmarketcap become a more social platform?
Every website do this, they collect data from their users and use it appropriately depending to what they want. The 2nd question is also possible, they have seen the need for a social platform since most crypto channels are more dwelling in telegram.

So, they just made an alternative.

No forces to use it, I've just shared it because I've seen it.

I guess the feature is still developing and list of chats and channels will grow as the time goes
I expected it to be full of "moon"ers and a total mess, but it seems to be okay (for now at least)

This feature is something everyone must know. This will help users to engage with other users in their community. Just make sure when using it keep all important information from being exposed. I recommend to make another alternative email account to log in, this will make the user more secure. But the feature look decent, I've tried it and so far no problem encountered.

We don't really visit coinmarketcap every day but it's a great feature to have on the websites having the opportunity to chat with other traders etc.

Maybe there is a lot of discussion on the websites that a lot of users could do but I doubt that a lot of people are going to take it seriously as the websites it didn't really focus on having social interaction.

If it doesn't require log-in or if there is a feature for guess log-in may be a lot of users will joining or gain interest in it as the websites might just getting personal information.
