I also saw the message icon on CMC yesterday, and I think it's very useful to be able to share opinions about cryptocurrency with people we don't know yet and can also suggest various inputs for the progress of the CMC site itself.
Well, I saw it but you need to signup first before you can join their conversation. It only required a Gmail address and of course a strong password on it.
Well, I hope this is not going to misuse from other members.
I have a strong feeling that perhaps this maybe can use in a hype project, --by spamming the name of the coin in community will give attract to the reader and perhaps will cause hype. Indeed, that is really to the traders that seeking the right information [I hope so] that you can communicate with each other.

Or they trying to bring coinmarketcap become a more social platform?

This also what I've notice, are they trying to attract investors to engage to the site? we know cmc as a one of those medium to check the
project information, now that they have chat system visitors can interact with other people around.

Engagement and socialization might be the next thing, as they also requiring every visitors to register in order to use the chat system.

I haven't visit Coinmarketcap for a while so I'm not aware of that new feature. That was cool, at least they're still putting an upgrade on their services so that investors still come to visit their website. But to be honest, I'm a little bit skeptical on that. I don't think it would create a lively community since most of tokens nowadays already got their own Telegram channel or any social medias Cheesy.

I guess no one has noticed and posted this so, I'll be posting it.

I've noticed that there's a messenger icon beside the search box and it's the new feature they have released, the chat. It requires logging in so you can chat with specific communities for each coin. There are channels made already there and you can join for those channels that you hold the coin. I didn't noticed that it was already announced last June 11.

This feature is something everyone must know. This will help users to engage with other users in their community. Just make sure when using it keep all important information from being exposed. I recommend to make another alternative email account to log in, this will make the user more secure. But the feature look decent, I've tried it and so far no problem encountered.

Data collecting works starts? Why they want to login to use this feature?

This could be a really cool feature but I don't like to login for such sites because you will get lot of random crypto related offers soon.Spam inbox. Smiley

It's better if we can login as a guess too. That's not a big problem as long as it has been running by a trusted party. Do you remember about another platform like cryptocompare or something else? that was doing the same thing like CMC before.

Looks like a pretty decent feature that will help distinguish it from platforms like CoinGecko and CoinPaprika, maybe it'll actually help build some engagement.

The platform was quickly losing its ground to CoinGecko, so it's good to see the developers are still innovating. Not that a chatbox is much of an innovation, I'm 100% sure it's going to become a new places where projects shill their tokens.

Based on how slow CoinMarketCap is to update their listings, I highly doubt they're going to have any moderation either. Scam central coming up!

Personally, I don't find that much interesting.

They are more interested in your personal data (e-mail and login information) than in anything else.

Data is the new oil.

Data is the real wealth of 21st century, so we don't have to appreciate these kind of features. Smiley

Make our way towards decentralization guys.

Create a fresh new email then.  Tongue Anyway, it is not compulsory to join their chat but somehow some users will feel that they are left behind if they will not join. I think, it is only for those users who are interested to enjoy this feature so if they will use their main email account, it is their choice. So expect also to receive some "spam emails" from them.

This is a welcome development for everyone on the crypto industry. Having a platform to discuss with people holding the same project is a good one.

It looks like a copy of Telegram, probably it is done on purpose to attract people for new "Telegram". It is nice that again community is closer to the project and could get answers for their questions on another platform.

I just found out about this feature too, and this is really interesting. But at first I thought this chat feature was public, like we are. But I see that in the user section is every project, is that true? so for the public can not join in the chat room?

Great feature, it will attract loads of new traffic and active crypto community on cmc portal.
As soon as binance group acquired coinmarketcap i was expecting they will revamp the portal with great new features and here we are they have already here with chat option but i am sure many more will be in the pipeline.
I hope they will also upgrade user interface, reduce ads on each page and also reduce loading time.

I really don't know how effective it is though, I just used CMC to check the price quickly, to see where crypto is at right now specially BTC. So I don't want to create an account with them just to chat or something.

It might be better to go directly to the coin that you follows and join their official channel than using CMC, in my opinion. It's not that bad enhancement, but I don't see any advantage though. Probably another way for them to collect your emails for marketing purposes.
