XRP is the coin that I can guarantee will be worth a lot more than it is now in the a few years. It's technology has been implemented by many banks and the coin is trading now at around $0.25 . It is going to be used by American express too make transactions. It has a bright future ahead.
NEM and GOLEM have been recently getting my attention as they are on the top 50s list in the coinsmarket. It is better to buy a few thousands of each coins as if even one of them reaches a few dollars would make quite a lot in future.

my suggestion is bitbay its currently 7 cents at the moment but its still a good coin i dont think it will turn 10$ in a year but the coin is so undervalued im sure it will turn 1$ in a year or even more bitsend will do too but its above 1$ but only 6 cents above its still a good coin to invest in. Not sure why you want to buy coins that are under 1 USD. There are other coins out there which are above 1USD and has a great chance of doing a 1000% or a 10x in value, for instance look at NEO and Waves, these are cheap if you ask me.

The question shouldn't be which coins are under a dollar since that artificially limits you to the coins with HUGE supply. As stated, if Ripple was to reach $10 it'd put its market cap at over $180-billion. The question should be something like, which coins are under $100-million market cap that'll reach a billion.

There are a lot of coins that have very potential future. But my best picks among them are NEM (XEM). I am very much sure that this coin will cost 10$ or maybe more in the next year.
Honestly the best to do is to buy $100 of 10-20 currencies under $1 in the top 200 in Coinmarketcap. I saw a picture of a index that invested $100 in each top 10 crypto currency on Coinmarketcap on the 1st of January 2017 and to this date that $1000 is currently worth $25000. Which represents a 2500% gain although unlikely to happen next year investing a small amount in a range of different currencies as if one or two or even a few go down the others will likely have gone up to make a good profit.
very difficult to choose, because there are many coins that have high potential future. but this is a good thing, because these coins can be trusted to have good potential.
Ox and Request Network are both at 80 and 81 on the coinmarket, greater future for this two coin hope it 's going to rise in the near future.
For me Coins valued under $1 are ripple and NEM (XEM) which are trade with very high supply and have strong dev's and teams to work.But it is not sure, these can be reach $10 level or not in next year.
STR ( Stellar Lumens ) or XRP ( Ripple ) if u want coin not popular but still growing up under 1$ is ERC20, its my opinion
Personally I would stay clear of Ripple. They have great partnerships but I don't see much room for the price to rise compared to other crypto's. Also Ripple has gone up 40x in 2017 alone while some other coins have been sleeping and are ready to wake up anytime soon.

1-Golem ($0.31)
2-SONM ($0.175)
3-Siacoin ($0.0084)
4-Flixxo ($0.063)

I think ETHB 1usd per blue today that is my opinion,this coin has a great potential to be on top of the list someday,and we cannot predict by year 2018 this coin will increase more its price value maybe reach 5usd.
Depends on the total supply! But if you are looking for a nice investment idea for 2018, you can make your research about Waves, Ubiq and OAX.

My pick would be Zurcoin. A 3+ Quark based coin that has a very low market and is getting used by a project. This one is well under $1 with it only being half a cent.
