Correct! They are the one that makes the game so alive and so intense as well, especially if our favourite players showed a good move and performance in a game because they always give a good comments.

So yes for me if they don't exist in any sports for sure it will makes the game so boring.. And it's not fair as well for those who have disabilities such blinds that love sports right? I know that there are some that exist despite of their situation.

This is very true especially for audience who are relatively new/beginner on that type of sport/game.

I remember, in chess24, there are three (3) casters currently which are composed of two (2) grandmasters of the sport and one (1) caster that has little-to-no clue about chess. The good thing is, since chess is somehow a difficult sport to understand, these newbie watches can associate themselves with that lone beginner caster in order to understand fully the game. They can see the perspective and ask some questions that the lone caster would also ask these GMs in their field.

The benefit of having casters can definitely bring a lot on the table; not just pure commentary and entertainment but also some insightful knowledge about the game/sport itself.

As you said, your television does have an audio system problem therefore when you are watching, it's partially mute or the sounds are crashed. That's really bad.

But I'm sure if your audio was fine and working well, you will enjoy the game without the commentator since you have an interest in the game.

Of course, like anybody, it's really worst to watch with the sounds crashing or muted. It's really boring. But here in your story, your issue is not on the commentator's problem but a simple audio problem.

Yes, they add value and quality of a specific sports that they are broadcasting rather than on watching the game fully without having any noise out of these commentators.
So i would say that its really that important to have one rather than have nothing at all.I dont know on others on why they do agree on having none
or saying or telling that they arent really seeing this to be that relevant or needed.

All of us are different and maybe those who don't want commentators like to watch the show peacefully. There are really people that are like that but most of all there are people that likes more sound, it makes them extra happy and excited.

Commentators gives information but those who don't want commentators are already familiar with the game and the teams that are playing but if they aren't, they will not be bothered by the commentators and they will look for it if there is no one around. Pandemic have still not ended and there are still no real audiences on a ring or stadium. There are no noise, so for me having commentators are necessary nowadays.

I totally agree with the op, a football match without commentators would be super boring, I've had this experience one time when my television audio system was bad, at my relaxing hour, I decided to just watch a football match thinking I would enjoy it like always since I don't need an audio to understand the game.
I turned on my television and switched to the channel, as I was watching, I felt something was off, the feeling of excitement I used to have when watching football was not there, just then, I realized how important the audio was, and then, I began to imagine a football match without the commentators, and also without the supporters chearing and shouting, how boring and uninteresting such a match would be.

Indeed! Actually, almost every sports league in the world have their own set of commentators, these people are the ones who feeds information to the general public to keep them informed to what was happening in the arena, either you're watching it live on set, television or computer. They are this useful and they keep the scene against boring moments, if we just take some time to hear, sometimes they can also tell some stories just to make the whole event entertained.

Personally I agree with you,I love when I see the game with those extremely passionate commentators that are usually in Arabic language and Italian language or Spanish,I have not seen more passionate commentators than the guys from these places and sure they give you much more adrenaline when watching the game under their commentary rather than watching the game without commentary at all.I have seen games in different leagues without commentaries and I felt 0 emotions while I was watching them although I had bet on one of the teams.I agree these guys should be recognized more.

I personally think that commentaries and commentators themselves add colour to sports competition. Especially if the commentators are really good and skilled in such area, then the event is even more highlighted, provided with context and adds thrill for the viewers and spectators. Although, I would agree that some do not give out that much of input, maybe because they are not that good in delivering spills unlike the others.

I think it still depends on the commentator because there are commentators that are seem shy which voice are not loud. This cant be an example of hype but there are also commentators that speaks loudly but is very annoying. I don't know about this one if this can be consider as a hype. But at the end of every match, they should put a quick survey if we are satisfied of what we hear and see, in terms of commentary or if which commentators have done their jobs very well.

The same thing when we call a costumer support, they also come up with a quick survey if we are satisfied with the customer support that answers us or not. That way, the company will know and they will replace it with a better person.

Ofcourse and when you have friends to watch it with you already got a tons of commentary on the way, uninvited as well. Therefore if am watching a game I think it does make it more fun for sure and it also helps to focus on the highlights as well, it's also not only funny but it's also very essential when we talk about games like UFC and football where some people might miss something in a matter of seconds, it might also be very beneficial for the visually challenged people who might enjoy sports as well, for example my dad lost his eye sight few years back he can see very little but he still enjoys sports matches all the time and I think it would not be possible without the commentary.

Indeed, it's more fun, entertaining, and engaging if there are commentators and commentary in every sport televised. These commentators are hired for a reason which one of it is to make the game more exciting and thrilling to those who are watching at the comforts of their safe spaces. I find it really nice if there is a good commentator on a basketball game I am watching. The way they deliver the commentary about the moves of the player as well as the turn of events make me more eager to watch and at the same time, my emotions are being hyped.

If there would be no commentator or perhaps there would be one, but a boring one, I could say that I would definitely not enjoy watching because for me, it's a necessity. A great commentator and commentary in a sports is needed in order to satisfy the audience and make them feel like they are also watching it in actual setting.

Yep! in esports not all the players has been given a spotlight, I mean not all of them can be seen clearly because they are doing the game in mobile or in pc while other sports athletes can be seen directly not in the big screen. The purpose of some commentators are to become some analyst as well , they know the game and they can help people to see the reason why they did this , buy this item etc.

This is a good point. Indeed, when I watch football, I mostly do other things (unless it's the Champions League final or something like that), so duplicating information with sound is very convenient. In general, you can go about your business and pay attention only to the most important moments in the game, like scoring chances or goals. It's hard to call it "watching football" but at the end of the day, that's how modern life is - we're always trying to do several things at the same time.

I actually find commentators helpful for us to understand everything about the game especially if we miss a single part of it due to some reason. They also give life to the entire game and make it more exciting. Some people might find them annoying but they actually contribute to the whole game and affects the emotions of the audience. They also help especially the bettors decide on where to bet because they're vocal about each player's strategies and abilities.

There are commentators that are biased and just try to build up the other fighter or team but in the end, they make up a good show, there are times that it's better to hear what the commentators are saying when you don't know anything about the fighters or the team, they enlighten us about the sports, its history, the team, the fighters and makes a lot of good comments to generate excitement, especially when there is an upset like what we've seen on Evan Holyfield fight where he was knock out face flat and he is a super heavy favorite to win the fight.

Well, they are still humans, so a bit of bias would always be there, though if it was idk, an irregular belief type of bias where it borderlines inappropriate, then ofc that would be wrong. Other than that really, a bias can also make some matches interesting to watch, with emphasis on "some".

Care to share some of those instances? I'm completely fine with commentary both on and off but I don't think an instance where I willingly turn off a commentary has ever happened. At most, it'd be because I was listening to something more important or me and my frieends were doing our own commentary.

You are right that it changes completely. I once had to watch the game without audio and it's much less exciting. The commentators give it an added value that we normally don't realise because we always watch it with sound but if at some point you hear it without sound you can't help but notice it because it's a radical change.
