I ended up ordering this case

http://www.newegg.ca/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16811147157&cm_re=Rosewill_BlackHawk-Ultra_Full_Tower_Gaming-_-11-147-157-_-Product

with the sheer crap load of fans it should work perfectly, and when I am done I will use it as a server case for a massive media plex server, 100TB is the goal Smiley

You can always explain people that what it is and use it if you have a permission.
In this case I guess the R4 is used somewhere where no permission has been asked.
Not accusing anything, just a wild guess.

We could always consider the alternate possibility...

He wants it in a public space at his home...but not visible in a way that someone would want to steal it

I mean...I wouldn't leave $1000 on the coffee table for 5 months hoping it will be fine.

Between the pets and beer spillage and rando's coming over...something would happen.

OP, I think that if you got a full ATX case and stood it on end...maybe that would work out for you. Head down to a thrift shop and see if they have any massive towers laying around.

OP: I can't really understand in any situation the quick and dirty solution and when you say it's only for four months..

And I can't still understand why do you need a case for it? To cover up something?

because it's easier to hide something that wont be mistaken for a bomb haha

can you imagine what a layman  might think if they found this howling beast of a machine revving up and down with wires going everywhere and blinking lights and shit?

ok, lets say the OP wants to have it "hidden" for whatever reason (which really doesnt matter, as thats his business) a simple shell of a PC case would be fine if you gut it. There are large server tower types of PC cases out there, look for old ones even on ebay and gut everything out of it. Put in your R4, allow proper airflow, adn wiring and be done Smiley

thanks!

The R4 is a very strange piece of hardware with the external connections 90-degrees to the airflow.   Shocked

Big and simple  Cheesy
ebayy ->http://tinyurl.com/jeux66s
That case is a NZXT S340
Dimensions   200mm x 474mm x 432mm

No way to fit a R4 in there.

Antminer R4 is already silence as it is, so I'm wondering why you have to have a ATX case for it?

yea i think you are right sorry

If you really want something nice, custom and stealthy you may want to reach out to Spotswood @ http://spotswoodcomputercases.com/wp/

here is a link to his thread on BCT:  https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/fs-all-aluminum-open-air-case-frames-now-with-support-beams-for-usb-risers-1487782

He can make anything, and i have used him for many designs in the past, very reliable.

Yeah, it would be a quick and easy solution. And it's only going to be in the bag for a few months.

the guy is looking for a serious solution, this isn't helping Smiley

A lot can happen in 4 months...Why not just put it in a bag?

In a bag?

Just make sure that you put the R4 in there horizontally.
If you put it vertically, you may have a problem with the temperatures and the fan is probably not made to last so well in the vertical position. Too much force for the bearings etc.

It's only for four months Smiley so I'm not overly concerned about the impact on them regardless of how I mount it.

Get yourself a 4U server case that opens on all sides like this one: http://tinyurl.com/jsjeuh8

You could fit a couple in there along with the psu's.

That would fit, lol. But with I could find more pics/info, pretty basic.

I can only assume its to put in a location where a "miner" isn't allowed by the OP, like at work or something.

Find the biggest case you can (not clear) and cut out all of the insides, so you have an empty shell.

thanks!
