Considering the players of each team, the chances are in favour of Botafogo. The middle-attack squad is the best of the American continent, composed by Thiago Almada, Jefferson Savarino, Luiz Henrique and Igor Jesus - The Fantastic Four. The defensive players Alexander Barboza, Bastos and Gregore are also pretty good, with highlights for Barboza, although he is aggressive sometimes on his arrivals, what causes desnecessary fouls.

The problem is when the adversary plays too closed on defensive position. In games like that, Botafogo has a hard time scoring and completing the plays with success. But in this case, since it's a Libertadores final, I think Atlético isn't going to play on "Testudo Formation", as they also need to advance in order to try scoring and having the advantage after all.

I hope it's going to be an entertaining game and that Botafogo wins after so many years suffering being subdued and humiliated on the soccer national scene. It's time to return to the glorious days!

If you analyze the performance throughout the season, Botafogo is the big favorite for the final, but Atlético-MG has already demonstrated its strength in knockout games, reaching both the Copa do Brasil final and the Copa Libertadores final. This is a match that has everything to be as random as possible, I can't imagine a champion yet... anything can happen. But if I were to make a guess without any basis in anything, I would go with Atletico MG.

And Botafogo did it

For the first time in their history, they are classified for a Libertadores final against Atlético MG
They lost to Peñarol 3 x 1, but the first match was 5x0, so the final result was 6x3

100% brazilian final
Which one will be the champion of America?

Today I saw on FIFA's Instagram that they are saying that the winner of this game will guarantee a place in the FIFA Club World Cup. If Botafogo manages to beat Atlético-MG, they will guarantee a place in the FIFA Club World Cup, which would make the club's management, players and fans very happy, even if they are unlucky again and don't win the Brazilian Championship.

@Botafogo and @Atletico will go head-to-head next month, with the winner claiming the final @fifaclubworldcup spot!

Now if they lose in the game against Atlético, the management and the fans put a lot of pressure on the coach and players to win the Brazilian Championship, especially because the game against Atlético will take place while there are still 3 rounds left for the Brazilian Championship to end. Botafogo needs to win something to do well this season and clean up the bad image that was that shameful last season.

Financially, it is much more interesting for a club to win the Copa Libertadores, because of possible sponsors and possible prizes if they manage to do well in the Club World Cup. The Brazilian championship is only very important for those clubs that rarely win it. I think that for any Brazilian team, winning the Americas is much better than winning the Brazilian championship. Now imagine a possible scenario in which Botafogo doesn't manage to win any of the championships... it would be very unlucky, but the club has that motto: there are things that only happen with Botafogo... words have power... I wouldn't bet on Botafogo! lol  Cheesy Cheesy

Yesterday we met the first finalist for Libertadores 2024

Source

Atlético MG drew with River Plate and secured qualification after winning the first leg 3x0 at home.
Incredibly, I didn't expect Atlético MG to make it this far in the Libertadores, since in the Brazilian championship they're not doing so well.
But it looks like the team prioritized the Libertadores and did well

Today Botafogo should secure their place and make it a 100% Brazilian final
What do you think? Any guesses?

Did anyone here follow the Libertadores match between Botafogo and Peñarol yesterday?
Despite the immense confusion of the fans of the Uruguayan team in Rio de Janeiro, Botafogo managed to play a beautiful game, and won 5x0
Yes, 5x0

It's a bit hard to see a semi-final match with such an impressive result
I don't think it's hard to think that Botafogo already have a 99% chance of being in the final

If any fans bet on 5x0, they must have gotten rich today hehehe  Grin Grin Grin

Penarol - Flamengo

honestly, I don't see Flamengo winning this game

And they really didn't win. The key match for this confrontation was the game in Rio de Janeiro, in which Flamengo once again played very poorly and arrived in Uruguay with a serious disadvantage. Throughout the Copa Libertadores, Flamengo's team played mediocre football and didn't play like a team that wants to be champion. The result is there: eliminated from the Libertadores and doing poorly in the Brazilian championship. It seems like this is the beginning of the end for coach Tite as Flamengo's commander. All the structure and money available and the guy can't do a good job. Everything he did was just average and when he needed to win, he couldn't.

In my opinion, Brazilians have talented players, but they have terrible coaches. Tite has his achievements, but he hasn't achieved much with different teams very often. So he's not the kind of coach that Flamengo should have high expectations of. If Flamengo's goal was, for example, to have a coach who would avoid being in the relegation zone in the Brazilian Championship or to go as far as possible in the Libertadores, then I would say that Tite would be suitable. But when you think about winning titles, then I don't see Tite being suitable. Even if they gave Tite 3 or 5 years at Flamengo to create a winning team, I don't think he would produce good results. And everything gets worse because at Flamengo in 2019, when Jorge Jesus won the Brazilian Championship and the Libertadores, he made the board and the fans start demanding titles from all the coaches who arrived after Jorge Jesus. So I think Tite will be fired soon

You were right, Tite was indeed fired and your analysis of his work is almost surgically precise, very good indeed and says it all. The biggest problem for me with Tite is his stubbornness and lack of determination in the team, Flamengo needs a coach with energy, like Jorge Jesus, who pushes the players and makes the team play with intensity. Flamengo needs a coach who can rescue Flamengo's DNA. Filipe Luis is now the new coach, he loves Flamengo and I am very hopeful about the work he will begin, I believe he will surprise many.

Well, the result of yesterday's game left me surprised

Sao Paulo 1  - 1 Botafogo

Botafogo scored an early goal and it seemed like everything was going well for them to leave the game with a victory. After scoring a goal, Botafogo began to waste good opportunities to score a second goal. Luckily for them, they were doing very well in defense. They managed to prevent Sao Paulo's attackers from scoring a goal. They were even lucky that the Sao Paulo player missed a penalty. And the first half ended with Botafogo winning. But in the second half, Sao Paulo dominated the game. It seemed like Botafogo had no interest in winning the game. Botafogo did not cause any danger to Sao Paulo's defense, and after wasting so many opportunities, Sao Paulo finally scored an equalizer and won the game on penalties.

A true tragedy and may God give him paradise and his family the patience needed in such circumstances, it was not enough it looks the fact that Luis Suarez decided to dedicate him his goals with Inter Miami when he was fighting at that hospital and that is life which sometimes can become very sad from one moment that no one expects it. What impresses me most is how come these doctors in sport clubs make a blind eye when doing their medical visits to these players, it reminds me the first time I saw such happening and I was shocked and it was at 2007 if I remember correctly when Mariano Puerta (don't remember his name really but he was a Sevilla player) that died on pitch and the medics accepted they knew but they did a blind eye in order not to kill a dream yet they don't realize that they are killing a human being by doing so. For me all the fault is on the medics, I highly doubt they are so incompetent as not to see when some guy has problems with his heart or any other danger he may has if he plays football.

Unfortunately, player Juan Manuel Izquierdo, from Nacional-URU, died at the Albert Einstein hospital in São Paulo. The player fell ill at the end of the match against São Paulo in the Copa Libertadores. It was a very sad situation. The player had small children. The scene of him staggering and falling on the pitch was quite shocking... It is worth remembering that this is the second tragedy of this type to occur in São Paulo games. The first was the death of São Caetano defender Serginho in 2004. Very, very sad.

Actually this is very sad to read and watch. He was young , he was skilled and still had a lot of time to improve and even catch a transfer in Europe. What I heard is that he had some small heart problems that affected him more than it should have had in that night and the result was a heart attack followed by insufficient brain oxygen:(. Prayers for his family , his closed friend , his team and everyone who supported him.

A very young man, from what I read he was 27 years old, leaves behind two small children, one of whom was just 15 days old... He was at work, it was all a fatality, very sad... he had his whole life ahead of him.

I saw that he possibly had a seizure followed by arrhythmia and cardiorespiratory arrest, but according to the doctor who attended to him, he arrived in the ambulance still breathing and with vital signs.

The games will be very good in these quarterfinals, we have five Brazilian clubs, with two matches between Brazilians, Botafogo x São Paulo (I believe Botafogo will advance) and Fluminense x Atletico-MG (I would bet on Atletico)... It's strange that Fluminense has come so far but at the same time is doing so badly in the national championship.... In the Flamengo x Penarol, Flamengo will definitely advance and Colo Colo x River Plate, I think River will win.... What do you think? What are your predictions?

My predictions:

Fluminense x Atlético MG
Botafogo x São Paulo
Colo Colo x River Plate
Flamengo x Peñarol

In bold are the ones I think will qualify
The only difference from your prediction is that I think São Paulo could surprise and beat Botafogo
São Paulo is usually good in South American competitions, so I believe in that result

Do you think the final will be between 2 brazilian teams?

I wouldn't like the final to be between two Brazilian teams, it's much cooler to see the rivalry between teams from different countries... Although lately the finals have been on neutral ground, which is a shame, I would like it to be the old-fashioned way, with home and away matches, to make it more exciting.

And what a shame about the Nacional full-back, apparently his health has gotten worse, very complicated, it seems like he won't be able to get out of this and recover... a young man, with a small child... very sad

Did you see coach Renato Gaúcho get really angry with the reporter? His decline is clear... he was supposed to be one of the greatest coaches in Brazil, and I remember when he said that if he were Flamengo's coach, he wouldn't lose to anyone else, because he had the best team in the country... the time came for him to have to coach Flamengo and that's what happened, he couldn't do anything.

https://www.tiktok.com/@corteszero14/video/7405581586281925894

I hadn't seen that interview, but I'm not surprised. Every time some journalists ask a few questions that really annoy the coaches after a disqualification hehehe  Tongue

...
Regarding Palmeiras, I think now is the time for redemption and the team will qualify. After all, if not, a very serious crisis could come and the coach will start to be questioned about his work.

I got Peñarol's and River Plate's classification right (it was easy too haha), but I got Palmeiras' wrong
It was a very exciting game, I thought it would be very easy for Botafogo to qualify after 2x0, but incredibly, in the last minutes of the game Palmeiras scored 2 goals, and even scored the 3rd, but the ball hit the striker's hand and the goal was canceled
If the match went to penalties, Palmeiras would have qualified, but that's not what happened

I finally saw a great match, worthy of the Libertadores, with a lot of emotion
I lost the bet but won a great spectacle

Palmeiras 2 - 2 Botafogo

This was a very emotional game. Botafogo played well for many minutes. They managed to score 2 goals and hadn't conceded a goal until the 80th minute. You might think they would win this game easily. But it's unbelievable that in 2 minutes Botafogo conceded 2 goals and made the game a draw. But that was just another nightmare, because minutes later another heavy one came. Palmeiras scored the third goal, but thanks to VAR the goal was disallowed and Botafogo goes through to the next round. If it were in the past when VAR didn't exist, then Palmeiras would have won this game. We have to congratulate the existence of VAR because it makes the game fairer.

 Grin

If there was no VAR, Palmeiras would have won the game

Bolivar - Flamengo

After Flamengo suffered a humiliating defeat in the Brazilian league game, I hope that at least in the morning game they can win without conceding too many goals. To be honest, I won't bet on Flamengo because I don't trust them. I just hope that they can at least get a draw or a win and don't concede too many goals.
