Why use only that strategy? many options that you can use in trading. Don't just because the strategy was effective 2 years ago and you still don't adjust to current market conditions. So stay realistic in taking profits, trades need to be taken advantage of. But that's the cycle, you just need to renovate the trading strategy and pay attention to the various factors that affect the coin being traded.

Hello everyone,

I am doing Trading since last 3 to 4 years And in this journey i have seen many updowns(profit and losses), But recently from few weeks i am loosing  my money continuously with the same strategy  i have been using since last 2 years. I don't know what happened to me. So please anyone can guide me through this situation, it will be very helpful for me.

Thank you.
Nothing in life is permanent including crypto currency there is up and down in the market you should have that at the back of your mind. If your strategy is no longer working for as it used to be then you have change your strategy to suit the current market trends.

3-4 years experience should be more than enough if you learn from your mistakes, we have similiar time experience but now i'm already could control my emotion when the market is not good enough.
I think you should evaluate in every trade you made or every loss you made, read a lot of crypto news and learn the basic technical chart reading and don't get controlled by your own emotion but you are controlling your own emotion. Hope you get less losses a head

If your strategy isn't working, I guess it's the best one for you to apply a new one. Yes, losing is part of trading but continuously losing for 2 years is more than enough. There's already something wrong with your strategy. If you're having a hard time then you could switch to the basic strategy and search for your comfortability.

Many days before i had seen a post before the same question but there is a little difference which was about trading strategies, that should be change the strategies in trading? The answer is Yes because trading strategies changes with time, So I also prefer you to not use the same strategy again and again that's why you had lost your money.

Did you leverage? If you are leveraging, then do not leverage again, you will gain. Trading has to also still do with patience, there are times your analyses may not be accurate, but if you do not leverage, your liquidation price will be at the highest. I believe if you are patient like this even during wrong analyses, the market will still correct itself in a way you will not lose but later gain.

Also do not use shitcoins, if you have been using good coins like bitcoin, you may be winning, but if you just started to choose the same analyses of the best with shitcoins, it is very possible someone will lose which is not because of the analyses but the coins taken.

The market is constantly changing so you need to improve your strategies too so you won't keep on losing. I have been also in trading for a long time and when i think i am not getting the same output anymore, so maybe there's something wrong with the strategy being used. Your own strategy should never be outdated because the market alone is always making improvement so you also have to revise and make it more useful.
Market changes and creates waves on the market but it does not change basically. People on the market don't change too so the losers are more than the winners.

To get profit with trading, don't create pressure on yourself and use most of your capital for investment. The small part is for trading and you would get success because you don't have pressure, don't have to use leverages, don't have to panic sell.

Trading does not need to be profitable all the time since its definitely impossible. But its even more profitable compared to gambling which is just purely based on luck.
If a trader does not know when to cash out profit and retrieve capital back, that trader will get a big lose and that one will eat all profit and capital. So if you win big, cash out your capital and don't touch it. Use profit you earn to trade, if you lose it all, you will have your capital to begin another trading.

The bad thing is not when you lose your capital because bad trades, but it is when you lose all capital and profit after you already win too big. It is nightmare and you will not accept it.

Lately, it's so easy to the market to get manipulated because how one person could manipulate the entire market with just the single tweet and make everyone in the world put into chaos and start making assumptiion about everything. So, you may aswell to take an account of that into your strategy. So, that means you have to update your strategy since the factor of trading that you have to check is pretty much more complicated imo.

If you have been making money in the past and also losses, it means you may have done the right things at that point and if you have made more profit than losses then, it also means you had a working strategy. The point is every trader encounters losses too.

To this other side of your worry about consistent losses. I want to point out two things that may have been the cause.

1. Either you have left your winning strategy totally or partially. You can check your indicators and there parameters to be sure they are in the measures you think they are.

2. Either the market is changing and playing smart on your strategy. In trading, there are times your indicators are at the mercy of market, you can't understand what is happening then. The solution to this is to take a break and rest for weeks

If there was one set and forget trading strategy, everybody would be rich by now. Since trading is a zero-sum game, no matter what strategy you use, somebody has to be poor so somebody else can be rich. That means, you should update your strategy over time. The markets will get smarter and your strategy will get dumber as the time passes. That's  why you are losing money now.

This is also a nice one to look at. Your strategy may need some tweaking and better ideas to be able to come back as a winner while taking the losses to the trader(s) on the other side. The more the volume, the more there are changes to what you know initially. Trading is survival of the fittest

Change is the most constant battle,  it is very easy to sit on our past succeses and continue to do what we are use to and expect different results!  I will advice that you take a break and re-strategize.  Never use your past experiences to trade the present market,  there might be trend but it will not play out exactly like the last time. All the best!

I mean, why are you still using the same strategy knowing that you've actually been losing for a while now? Your strategy might need some tinkering.

Also, depending on what your strategy actually is, it might not work every single time. Markets move and change.
Luckily for OP, trading is not all too demanding on capitals. Especially when you want to test some strategies out. Should your current strategy be putting you in a lose which have become a thing of concern, then now might be the right time to hold on it and understand that it's just not working anymore.
Log onto a demo account, seek out some new ways of understanding the market and picking out a trading position on those terms and keep trying it out. Keep switching and repeating until you are okay with one that actually works and then, you could switch back for a real account and trade on the new strategy.

Above stats are for general trading but it holds true for crypto trading also. Although there is no exact figure available about how many traders end up in loss, roughly its estimated that 80% of traders end up losing there money. There are various reasons for that like lack of knowledge, greed of becoming rich overnight etc.
Its better to go for long term trading (Hodling) there are bright chances of doubling, tripling your money.

I recently made a post on "how many consecutive losses can you handle in trading, before you accept that your strategy is no longer working?",
 https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/m.57711872

Some said two, others three, some four etc. In your situation from OP, it seems you have been on a very long loosing streak, in your heart, you don't need a prophet to tell you  you need to take a break from trading and re-examine your strategy.

While re-examining your strategy, try to single out the reason/reasons why your strategy started failing, and then start making changes from there. Don't be in a hurry to start trading again, take your time to absorb and observe your new strategy without entering a trade, the market is going no where. If you hurry back, you hurry back to loosing.

There's a lot that needs to verify here, you trading cryptocurrency for 3 to 4 years? It is consistent? How frequently you do trade in 3 to 4 years?

Because I know someone who really trading for how many years but they started in stocks or forex not a cryptocurrency and they start to trade cryptocurrency but they find it different like they are owning when trading stocks but when they started to trade cryptocurrency, they said there is a lot of difference.

build new strategies because not all the time your current strategy can save you from the volatility of the market especially nowadays that like what you said it's more on down trend than uptrend wherein unlike before.. So learn new strategies for your new journey, infact there are some new techniques and very informative strategy in the internet so must invest time for it to avoid doing mistakes again in the future.

4 years are long enough because you will go through a complete cycle of a crypto market: bullish to bearish then bullish.

4 years and you still ended with losses so the conclusion is trading is not suitable for you. You must think of another way: Investing.

  • Try to do your own research and choose good cryptocurrencies for your portfolio
  • Do this with investment approach: hodl them to enjoy the bull run of market.
  • Invesment only works and gives good result if you choose good (not shit) cryptocurrencies, and hodl them for months
  • If you choose shit altcoins, you do not invest but you do gamble.

Perhaps the strategy is outdated. Try something new. That's all the reason I could think of.
You are an experienced trader and you might also be proud of what you have made out of the same strategy that's why you don't want to let go of it.
How about try some round with an experimental strategy and see if you will have a different output.

Same here. I leave from trading for more than 4 years. Daytrading, scaping, even algo trading with arbitrage and MM strategies coded by me. But I lost a decent bag during 52-43k dump and i'm loosing now trying to trade altcoins which pump right after my sell. My worse month starting from 2020. What I do? i just step back. For 2 weeks for the beggining. Why? Because market has to be in crucial reversal point with lots of uncertainity and is simply untradable. When I was starting trading i met trader with 30 year experience. He told me - If you want to trade technical check if asset is moving in a technical way currently. Sometimes emotions on market are that big (or few big players are fighting) than all we can do is just sit and watch.
Just step back, chill your emotions, accept the loss that you have already generated (so that the emotions associated with wanting to recover loss do not incline you to open too risky positions) and come back after a week or two.
