In my country, the offshore gaming operator are been force closed by the government because of the COVID-19. There is a community quarantine in my country where many business establishments are closed because of the fast spread of the virus. The whole gambling industry are affected due to the COVID-19.

In my opinion the gambling industry will be devastated not only in sports betting but also in other types of gambling, because people will think of saving money to buy food in this difficult time, because there is no certainty when this will end precisely what we hear and read in the media is the increasing number of countries that do lock down which increasingly shows that economic recession will be possible in the near future.

The effect of Coronavirus is people will stay at their home if they don't have urgent things. I think there will be a new type of sport that people can do while they stay at home, and there will be a competition between them. I imagine that there is a battle between one player against another player, and the audience can place their bet and choose who will be the winner.

Since we have the technology, I think that a new type of sports will easy to grow among the people, and perhaps, they will like it because they don't have to go to other places.

Or perhaps, we will see a growth in the cryptocurrency gambling website because we know that many people like to gamble in the casino so they will search another way to play gambling.

I guess small timers in gambling will have a break in gambling as you mentioned, they will prefer to save the money for necessary items. But for those high rollers who don't care about money or don't have problem spending money even with this pandemic situation, they will be in online platforms and maybe discover crypto online gambling websites. This will increase crypto users in gambling...Maybe..For Sports bettors, they will look for alternatives but maybe most of them will park their gambling activities.

I think we might expect that scenario but as what LTU_btc said most people will also thinking it's better they save it rather than gamble it. On the other hand, gamblers can't be stopped especially those who gamble sports betting they'll more likely will find any alternatives. I think it's more likely neutral in a sense since world is in turmoil with this pandemic.

I think it's very difficult times for crypto and traditional gambling websites. There is almost no active sports competitions left, so volume in sports betting will be close to zero.
And I doubt that people will start to gamble more. It's very difficult situation in the world and I think most people prefer to save their money because we don't know what will happen soon, there is lot of doubts about future and possibly upcoming recession. I think it's not worth to expect groving volumes in gambling industry soon.
