Nz crushed India . What a batting display by the kiwis , wonderful to watch . I was hoping for a century by the opener TIM SEIFERT , he deserved it .
It was just too much pressure for India in the second innings . They should have got a good opening partnership which they failed in and even Pant didn't play well .

Anyway I have a feeling NZ will win this series .
Yh they won in a fashion. India could not stand a chance against them. Win by 80 runs tell you the story. MS Dhoni tried but that was not enough. Well-deserved win for Kiwis. 1 - 0 lead sounds good.

T20 have begun between India vs NZ women cricket and batting first NZ made 159/4 in their 20 overs and India have started the chase well with 77/1 in 8 overs. After this match is over men T20 between India vs NZ will be played on the same ground. So it will  be a interesting day to watch the T20 of both men and women.

There are more T20 today. I have created a separate topic for T20 format. Here: T20 cricket prediction and discussion. If you wish we can hang up there.

India is responding well

I would like to add Kulasekara too to that list , now that's the team with high caliber and could defeat anyone on any given day .

It happens actually , all national teams struggles at one point but the important thing is how they get back . Look at Australia ,they used to be one of the best teams across all formats but now , not much .

Never heard much about this player lol. that's a issue. they have so many forgotten players. yeah transition of team is very important. Indian cricket board did a very good job.
I am surprised how Nuwan Kulasekara has been disappeared. He was a good bowler. In fact, I have seen very little bowlers like him. He was one of the best bowlers for his time. Srilanka is missing a lot of players at the moment. One is the spin bowler, was the name Mendis? I can't remember. He was also in good form but don't know what happened.
Kusal Mendis? he is wicket keeper batsman i think. the name you are looking for is Rangana Herath. he took retirement as well recently.
In 20-20 match between Ind vs Nz. Indian bowlers taking a beating from Nz batsmen.

I agree its going to be a challenge for Sri Lanka to get back to where they once were when these great players were playing for them. Its just going to take time as finding talent like they had is hard and when a team loses 3-4 top players its hard to recover from. Australia went through this after a few of their top players retired around the same time and so did India. I think they have a few good players but they still need to mature before we see the best of them.
Srilanka will take a minimum of more 5+ years to get what they had in the previous. If you have a look, only Sangakkara, Mahela and Dilshan was playing good most of the time and they were carrying the whole team but Srilanka lost all 3 of them almost at once. It was a big lose. India has recovered its team since after Sachin, Sehwag gone. In fact, I think India is in better position than then.
I agree with you. Sri Lanka needs drastic changes in order to prepare themselves for the upcoming world cup since the current team has proven again and again why they are unfit as a team together. They sorely need bowlers like Chaminda Vaas and Murali in order to regain their form.

Interesting. I feel that both the men and womens Indian cricket teams will win due to the current form of the Indian players. The recent victories over Australia and New Zealand will only help motivate them even further.

Sri Lanka had a very poor test series against Australia, they didn't show much fight at all which was a shame as it would of been nice to see them fight a lot harder today and make Australia earn their wickets but that wasn't the case. Strac ripped through Sri Lanka in both innings taking 10 wickets for the match and deserved man of the match. Sri Lanka have a long way to go before they come good again, I just hope that it doesn't take too long.

This is a bigger challenge for the SL cricket board as this was one of the top sides when they had players like Dilshan, Sangakara, Jayawardhan, Murlidharan etc and with the retirement of their's the team has just not being able to get the right combination or player are just not upto the international standards.

I miss those great players SL had too . Jayasurya , Jayawardhana , Sangakkara , Dilshan and so on . The bowling unit too had some very good players . I feel that the biggest mistake SL did was all the experienced players retired at the same time . Look at how Dhoni is impacting the Indian team now , that was what is required in SL team now.

Chaminda Vaas and Muttiah Muralitharan were the best in bowling unit. rest are forgotten. without new crop it is not possible to sustain anything. i think srilankan crowd too not very interested in cricket now.

You made me remember the golden days of Srilankan cricket when we had such world class players in Srilanka team.

Well, it is hard to get the bowler like Muttiah Muralitharan again as he was a legend and he will be remembered in golden words through out the cricket history.

Srilanka is in lack of international standards players. I can barely see someone is really playing good. Most of their player are quite young and not experienced. I can see a bad world cup for Srilanka while they had good position since the 2007 world cup. I don't see a batsman like Sanggakara, Srilanka will miss him for some more years. It is hard to get a player like him.

~snip~

I do agree that they need to do something about this. but they fought well in NZ's tour in pieces (Test-ODI) before losing. the more disappointing result was against England at their own home soil.

They need to improve their domestic cricket. its one of the worst when compared with other teams. they are not producing good player because of this and financial condition of Board not helping at all.
I remember the Sri Lanka in 1996 and later few years. In the world cup Arjuna Ranatunga was their captain. He was such a cool guy with his team. I never seen him to feel pressure in any situation. Always he found a way to win. May be Sri Lanka need a good captain.

~snip~
Certainly , otherwise this thread would be flooded with all matches ( including other international matches ) . I feel like that thread will get active once IPL starts .

Working together will help to make the topic interesting.

Hehe didn't really know the thread existed , well since this thread covers almost everything related to cricket matches , I don't go anywhere else but well it's nice to have a separate thread for only T20 discussions though , will hop on there later when I talk about T20.

Btw looks like my spare bucks on SL goes to vain.
Sri Lanka lost eventually. Australia won by 366 runs. The Sri Lankan could not even stand a chance in the 2nd innings. They lost all their wicket only to score 149. This is a bad tour for them.

About the T20 section, I thought to have a separate section for this format would be nice especially when the IPL will start.

Sri Lanka indeed needs some psychological therapy. I am looking at their recent stats for both ODI and test in espncricinfo. And this is what I found:

2 test with Ozs: 2 - 0 whitewash
Only T20 with NZ: Lost
3 ODI with NZ: Lost 3 - 0 whitewash
2 test with NZ: 2 - 0 whitewash

This team seriously needs some psychological attention.

I created a topic only for T20 but so far no response LOL

Finally Old (Softy) Strac back after a long time. he waited for 10 wicket haul for so long, almost one year, right?
