The West on the wrong path

08.08.2014, 13:53 Uhr
In view of the events in Ukraine, the government and many media have switched from level-headed to agitated. The spectrum of opinions has been narrowed to the width of a sniper scope. The politics of escalation does not have a realistic goal – and harms German interests.

Steven Seagal performed during biker show in Sevastopol:

Why is Steven Seagal in Ukraine?  Huh It doesn't seem like a good holiday destination right now

He's not in Ukraine, but in Sevastopol.  Tongue

After the show, he was presented with a T-shirt propitiating Putin (which he tried on), and a statue of a "stron warrior" (bogatyr'). He thanked the gathered public in Russian. During an interview he agreed that music is the best way to promote peace among peoples.

PS: During the culmination of the show, the spectators were presented with the scenes from Kiev Maidan and from shelling of peaceful civilians in the cities of Donbass. The APCs that took part in the show carried flags of the Donetsk People's Republic.

Poroshenko: Ukraine not to give up on Crimea
http://en.itar-tass.com/world/743288

They still want a war with Russia.

Quote
“Crimea is not for sale,” Ukrainian President said

No one was buying it. But Poroshenko, being an oligarch clearly forgets that the land is inhabited by people - Donbass and mass extermination of residents there being the case in point.

He clearly has self interests here, but I wonder what's going to do now.. start a war with Russia? I don't think the Ukraine would survive that.

Far East reporters propose Gold Star award for President Putin
http://rt.com/politics/176632-putin-hero-russia-award/

Quote
A group of journalists have lodged an official proposal to award Vladimir Putin with the honorary title Hero of Russia for his uncompromising defense of the national interest and support of ethnic Russians as well as for supporting the freedom of speech.

The move has been initiated by Konstantin Pronyakin from the city of Khabarovsk, a correspondent with the popular nationwide daily Moskovsky Komsomolets.

...

The backers of the initiative claim that Putin deserves this because of his “heroic decision made in difficult times to support the compatriots and brotherly nations of the Crimean Peninsula,” expressed in the signing of the Federal law on the accession of the Crimean Republic and the Sevastopol city into the Russian Federation.

The journalists also praise Putin’s input into maintaining Russia’s territorial integrity, his solid stance in defending Russia’s national interests on the international arena and the “declaration of the freedom of expression within the framework of the law.”

Best leader Russia had in the past 100 years.

Clever, strong, modest and with a vision for the future.

His best move to re-nationalize the Oil and Gas industry, all of Russias wealth since then based on that.

Imagine all of the world powers have persons like him in charge, our world would be more peaceful.

And then imagine all of the world powers have persons like Obama or his poodle Cameron in charge - WW3 would be a sure thing.

Good luck!

Probably they will switch to Crimea but it will take a few years till the whole resorts are put back to at least let's say 3 stars ratings.

On that I completely agree with you. Something that was systematically destroyed and neglected over a course of 20+ years cannot be undone over a single summer.

However, don't forget the so-called "wild" tourism, where people station privately or in boarding homes. It was always like that and constituted a greater chunk of vacationers. Resorts accounted only for a small fraction. And crypto made a good case-in-pint with that video:

Well , then your claim that is very hard to get into Crimea and the numbers of cars that can be transported by ferry doesn't match the assumption that the resorts are full. Smiley))

Besides , we had a previous discussion on how the resorts are right now .. this couldn't have changed in one month.

No, but still, there are many factors playing in favour of taking your vacation on Crimea, patriotic being not the least of those. Besides, I know several Westerners here in "civilised" world who go on vacation to Crimea year after year, without being discouraged by the "conditions" of the resorts - they say it's better than in Turkey.

I don't know about westerners but I know Russians tend to prefer Turkey.
I was amazed how many Russians (especially females 0 I've seen two years ago while visiting turk resorts in summer.

Too bad I was with my girlfriend Smiley

The question about the queue to get to Crimea using the Kerch ferry was answered on the 10th of July. The queue to get to Crimea is 1700 cars the number of cars waiting on the other side is 5. There are 4 ferries in operation.

Another person answered that they waited 14 hours for their turn to take the ferry. More ferries are being deployed, but so does the flow of tourists.

It's not that there is a lack of people wishing to get to Crimea for a vacation, but the routes and their capacity are limited, given a full-fledged war in Ukraine.
