Ukraine is an offtopic here since 11 March 2014. But Crimea is a nice place to spend a vacation, if you mean this.
How is the situation in Ukraine beyond the news? Is it a place where you can go for a month as a vacation at least or not even that?

Chief of Luxembourg Ministry of Foreign Affairs says that Europe should stop thinking about Crimea and sanctions against Russia. He says that Crimea is de-faco Russian and will not be going to Ukraine for at least the next 10 years. Ukraine, according to him, should postpone this question until 2024, or else World War III is imminent.
However, he said that de-jure they are not intending to acknowledge Crimea as Russian.

This year's Mjelis will for the first time be conducted outside of Crimea - in Herson region. Ukrainian authorities hope to involve the more radical-inclined Tatars in fighting in South-Eastern regions. The training camps in Crimea have been closed down, and some of the Crimean Tatar radicals are pulling into Ukraine:

BBC, which has been silent about the ongoing genocide in Donetsk an Luganks seems to be quite vocal about the hardships of the Crimean Tatars. They say that so far 8,000 Tatars have moved to Western Ukraine.

Poroshenko declines any possibility of normalisation of relations with Moscow until Ukraine re-steals Crimea. I can only see one way out of it: dismantle Ukraine. Problem solved.

I would still be a bit pessimistic about the "bright future". After the second Word War many countries fell under the "protective wings" of Mother Russia. After couple of decades those countries were able to free themselves from the Russian influence (maybe not in 100%). Those countries, to this day, cannot catch up to the western civilizations because of how Russia was managing them.
Let's differentiate between Russia and Soviet Union. Russia itself suffered greatly from the Soviet regime. Crimea is actually a case in point.
