Russia needs to rebuild the most critically run-down objects of infrastructure and buildings... but not only in Crimea. There are many other cities in Russian that needs restoration but no one is paying attention to them (at least not enough). Today Crimea is in the limelight so of course there will be some investment to show people of Crimea that joining Russia is a good decision. But in a long term its not so obvious

A small knit-pick: not "joining Russia", but "re-joining Russia".

In the rest I agree with you: There are a lot of disregarded places in Russia that need investment and rebuilding.
Crimea, however is not in a danger of losing investments in the longer run. It's had a very important strategic position for Russia for the past 300 years, and it's not about to change. Add to that that it's one of the few affordable Southern seaside places (Sochi being the other one), where "normal people" can go to for a holiday. With a federative structure (as opposed to the centralised one of Ukraine), Crimea will see a much larger portion of its income staying on the peninsular. All this gives Crimea a bright future.

Well, yes, there were embezzlements, and they were also strongly criticized and exposed by the Russian press. Alas, it's almost become a sad rule that out of the allocated money, over 50% is expected to disappear in bribes and favours.

As for Crimea, it would be foolish to expect that something that was ruined and left in a more more more deteriorating state for almost 25 years would be repaired and everything will become wonderful within a few months after reunification.

Russia needs to rebuild the most critically run-down objects of infrastructure and buildings (in other words, practically everything), and with so much focus on the region and with Polonskaja keeping a stern eye on the region, I don't think embezzlements will be quite on the Sochi-scale.

And what does that link of the Western hate propaganda against Sochi in particular and Olympics in Russia in general have anything to do with Crimea? Sochi, which is a regular seaside city got a fair share of investments, besides new events are organised there also after Olympics.

It's an example of how money were waisted during the preparations for the olympics. As for "Western hate propaganda" - it's strange that almost every western democratic country is able to see the scams and embezzlement of resources when the olympics in Sochi were held.

There are large-scale plans for infrastructural development in Crimea:
http://www.rg.ru/2014/05/15/reg-kfo/shema.html

Among other things, there will be a new railway route between Kerch and Simferopol.

What is also very welcome, are the plans to connect Simferopol airport with the city by a railway shuttle, and build a new terminal for the Simferopol airport.

Anyone who traveleld to Crimea by air know of the scenic and tedious 30-40-minute ride by trolleybus (built in late 80s), travelling at an average speed of 20 kmph if one wants to taka public transport from the airport to the city. Smiley

Yeah right. Russian propaganda will make everyone happy. They will built every thing and resolve every problem. But the reality is that as soon as the Ukraine-Russian conflict  will end, all the promises will be forgotten or they will be kept but at what cost

Crimean clubs out of Russian league next season

The Russian Football Union was supportive of the move, but the pressure from FIFA and UEFA forced them to think otherwise.

It's not like that entirely true.. they haven't forced them they asked for a delay.

They voted no before a final answer from the FIFA to shift the blame afterwards.

However, a Russian Football Union conference voted to put off a decision, citing requests from FIFA and UEFA for a delay.
''There are no chances whatsoever for the Crimean clubs to make the start of the Russian championship,'' Vyacheslav Koloskov, honorary president of the union and a former FIFA vice president, told local media.
On Friday, the Football Federation of Ukraine said it remained opposed to Russian control of Crimean football teams and would pursue the issue with FIFA and UEFA.

^^^ The most important thing about this poll is that, it was conducted by the American research-based, global performance-management consulting company Gallup. The pro-EU types will no longer be able to say that the poll was biased. The survey, was funded by the US government's Broadcasting Board of Governors, which operates Voice of America.

“Crimeans are far more unified in their view that the US has played a negative (76.2 percent) rather than a positive (2.8 percent) role,” according to Gallup.

Meanwhile, 82.8 percent of Crimean people who took part in the referendum say that it was legitimate, adds the poll.
