I do not believe bitcoin has resulted or has played a huge role in increasing criminality as people criminals or otherwise has always found ways and means to get transactions done . Infact bitcoins has been around for years and so for us to believe this absurd statement they must show us a trend commensurate with the creation of bitcoins and this increase in criminality. You are right bitcoin has help criminals to be able to pay for they illegal transactions unnoticed and untraceable because bitcoin is decentralized and at that the security agencies are not able to keep watch on it activities, most of the business that take place in the dark market are paid for using bitcoin and even corrupt government officials now use bitcoin to launder money out of the country unnoticed.
Actually by using Bitcoin then some crime can be reduced, cash will continue to be the preferred medium for criminal activity as it is more difficult to trace. All Bitcoin transactions are recorded and publicly viewable. Only the identity of transactions that can not be seen but still can be obtained with little effort.

However, we cannot avoid these situations because there are always things such as good and bad, right and wrong. When it comes to money there is always a bad impression on it.Like here in Bitcoin because of it's increasing popularity, some make ways to show the negativity of it.
