About the building...

Reconstruction is in full force, and the building regulations come drop by drop. Also they are nowhere to be seen, and bonuses for early birds abound. Clearly an annouying situation.

I'll try to list the most important info here:

General

It is possible to do Building Projects and Repair Projects. The costs and benefits are in the previous messages. New construction prices are by and large equal to the situation in 1599.
BUILDING PROJECT INTRODUCTORY POST WITH COSTS
REPAIR PROJECT INTRODUCTORY POST WITH COSTS
Q&A concerning Repairs

We have limited production of windows. If you leave your building without for now, it is possible, but it is working only at 50% pool payout rate. Also if you leave it without lux in fear of the lux deteriorating in absence of windows, the rate will be even lower. But construction without lux and windows is very cheap so should be considered.

Architects and their fees; BI and their fees

We are moving to a new system where each borough/chapelry would have their named Instructors to coordinate the building. Until then, use the existing ones (Roopatra, Earl noms, ...).

The Royal Architects are busy with their "own" buildings but take exciting new projects upon inquiry as well. The fees are royal but so is the quality of the product.

Stone and windows markets

Stone trades have been in the range of 100-140 m/stone lately. The peasants stand ready to deliver any quantity of stone to any borough @ 200 m/stone, which should keep the existing stone price well below. We still have 70 million stone in the reserves, enough for about 55,000 sqm of new buildings (the town has about 115,000 sqm floor area now, and existing buildings can be demolished if needed).

RWWC will aim to always have windows for sale at the market price, which currently is about 500,000 m/sqm. Check if you'd go for WIASS/WIASSS instead, because while these Ancient windows are less usable, they are Ancient and may command a premium in the future, while bringing you the benefit of having windows in the present.

Bonuses

There is a quite steep surcharge for building to a roofline of more than 15 meters. It is waived completely in 1600 (this week), and then it's 25% of the amount in 1601; 50% in 1602; 75% in 1603 and full tax from 1604 onwards.

New projects start at repair=100% always. Repair projects have been able to be structurally raised to 115%. This will last in 1600 only, after this the max is 110%.

The General Rental Pool (all buildings have shares in the same pool) will start distributing in 1601 (this sunday). It is in /BLDG "BA". Examples of the coming dividends to different buildings (current situation):

Royal Palace in 1-C = 138 mil <- with full lux and windows
Grand Hotel in 1-C = 65 mil <- does not even have windows, +100% with them
Theatre in 1-E = 38 mil <- repaired
Riccardo's Townhouse in 1-N = 13 mil <- this is only 200 sqm!
Dept of Mil Science in 1-NW = 12 mil <- an example of a building in bad condition (950 sqm)
Angus Greenthumb house in 2-W-L10 = 0.7 mil <- this is a 20 sqm building without windows so not a bad return for the investment of 25 mil

These payouts can substantially boost your income, and remember that the Bank is there to give you loan up to 50% of the appraisal value. So in almost all cases you can basically repair your buildings with no money down and pay the loan with the incomes from the pool! (So the RE bubbles are always made, player beware..)

Penalty for not tending to your buildings

They will just receive less pool payouts and may deteriorate more rapidly, even collapse if the repair% is low enough. You should not lose much, but you miss some of the upside. If taking care of buildings is not your specialty, consider appointing a wealth manager (Roopatra) to check your situation, or divest excess properties in the open market.

Awarding of the Reconstruction Medal

We have realized the immense scope of Reconstruction, and the difficulty to keep track of who deserves a medal for the contributions. Therefore, the medals will be made fungible (no yearmarks), and qualifications public. Admins will automatically give the right type of medal (RM1600-color) according to the following guidelines (guidelines will get more difficult as time passes):

For Princes and Higher
Gold = For magnificent contributions after application to the King only
Silver = Spend a minimum of 500 mil to construction
Bronze = not possible

For Marquesses and Earls
Gold = For great contributions after application to the King only
Silver = Spend a minimum of 250 mil to construction
Bronze = not possible

For Barons and Jungherren
Gold = Spend a minimum of 250 mil to construction
Silver = Spend a minimum of 100 mil to construction
Bronze = not possible

For Commoners
Gold = Spend a minimum of 100 mil to construction
Silver = Spend a minimum of 50 mil to construction
Bronze = Other contribution

For Corporations
Gold = Very Large contribution related to corp size
Silver = Large contribution related to corp size
Bronze = Small contribution related to corp size

CLXII is getting pricey... price is at 4,200,000 per bottle now - meanwhile CVS, your everyday cognac, is available at 200,000.
ADD: Since there is no more cognac coming to the town for some time, the max quantity to buy CVS has been lowered to 50 bottles, price remaining the same, until supplies last.

So that prices would not go crazy prematurely, we have to remind you that we have already given some, but still have some quota to give to our friends (about 150 more bottles will be given) and drink (oh my what a party...).

To all the Admins of Crypto Kingdom:

There is a new tab opened in the Character and Resource database, Admin_Town. It is used for reporting work from Town -commissioned admin tasks. When the Town commissions work from admins in the thread, in the chat, trollbox or other channel, or if town commissions work from a specified admin in private conversation: Report your work here, and the Town pays you 330,000m /minute of work, unless any other payment was agreed upon.

All admin work for Town must be reported in the tab by the end of the week or it expires. All payments from Town are cleared out on Sundays as part of the year end. (The admins may get commissioned work by other players: such as Architect work, Building Instruction, or other work in the database.
In this case the admin can charge the player for the agreed upon sum for their time, the town is not involved and therefore does not pay for the admin´s time.)

The Town continues to be extremely grateful for all free work, including small changes to the databases, that the characters order to happen in the thread!  Smiley

Wow that was indeed a worthy venue to open the first crate of the soon-to-be famous Louis XII Cognac.

The Bicentenary celebrations have therefore started unofficially in this new "palace of pleasure".

We have also constructed a Summer Pavilion in 2-NW. With its 1,900 sqm of gardens, 1,440 sqm of terraces in 3 levels, 797 sqm of party space and 341 sqm of wine cellars, it is a worthy venue as well.

The Royal Palace will be the third main location. The highest level chef is at our disposal.

The main celebration will be held after Ultima project first milestone release is playable.

Thank you all for attending the King's k*50-anniversary at The Gilded Goose!  The party was decadent and fun was had by all. Many people joined in the festivities, and some were surprised by a gifted bottle of CLXII cognac! After we went through the crate, Earl Noms opened up another case of wine and the party continued late into the night until the early morn...

Quote of the night by HM the King:

The Gilded Goose

After years of preparation, it is my honor to introduce to you The Gilded Goose. Inspired by the age-old tale of Jack and the Beanstalk, this 5 star combination wine & caviar bar and fine-dining establishment will be sure to tickle your senses while making you feel that you have indeed found the golden egg!

The Gilded Goose is a 30 meter tall structure consisting of two floors of 15 meters each. The first floor consists of an exquisite wine and caviar bar called The Golden Egg. It imports only the finest caviar and wine from around the world. We have recently procured the Almas caviar, which is sure to excite your taste buds!

We have also hired the finest scientists and chefs in the land, and the result has been amazing. Now, for a limited time, we can offer the the newest of our signature caviar: The Gilded Albino. For only the most discriminating connoisseurs, this fine caviar  is made from rare albino fish eggs and laced with 22 carat gold. This one-of-a-kind caviar is only available for consumption at the Gilded Goose.

If fine dining is more your style, take a step up the opulent staircases to the Golden Goose, a restaurant catering to the most discerning of tastes. Upon stepping into the room, your breath will be taken away by one of the highest levels of luxury that has been seen in a CK restaurant (300%).  In an elegant room set in light and gold, all the hands on the clocks are stopped on 12 as a reminder that inside this Palace of Pleasure, time is of no consequence.  The restaurant staff are known for their impeccable manners, high style of service, always being at their clients’ disposal, and their sincerity.  The wine cellar,  filled with 50000 bottles, is a wine aficionados' dream.  Come, lose yourself in a dining experience you won't soon forget!

Looks like HM is out of IC at the moment, but has a lot of wine to show for it!  Shocked

12,670 bottles of wine and 1,016 bottles of cognac is something to be proud of. We have even given some of the cognac to friends already, check it out! Smiley

It's hard to taste something so young as W1600, but when I did (thanks Lord noms), I was positively surprised, it felt more mature than I thought, ready to age a few more years, never will be a really good wine, but is already a very decent 16/20. Eager to hear the others' feelings (roll a die and improvise!).

W1600M should be a balanced one, after all it's a blend of many barrels, and was double the price as well. But after drinking a healthy amount of 30 bottles, the feeling is not so amused any more. Without exception, the wine tastes undeveloped, very barely drinkable at all. At the same time, it oozes the potential to develop to a very great wine, but this may take decades from these humble beginnings. We might have some tasting, but it's unlikely that this can be served in the celebration now. Perhaps in the next one Wink

Hmm... could The Earl White Cross sell a few thousand bottles of W1600 as we spent all the IC already on the stuff that's not ready for this party..  Embarrassed

Any correlation to real or imaginary events is unintended, results have been obtained via a die.

Might it be added that the purchases of wine and cognac for this celebration, cost more than the Royal Palace did when it was originally constructed.

Drinking system (V.5/Ultima "sustenance")

Drinks are recorded in the DB by bottle, which is the game-daily ration. If you drink for sustenance, 30 bottles of the same liquor must be consumed at once, being enough for a real-day. It is possible to drink for fun/specific health as well, in which case individual bottles may be consumed.

Spirits (strong liquor) cannot be consumed for sustenance (30-bottle-lots), only individual bottles, which might have strong health/medicinal benefits. Spirits don't age in the bottle, so despite that there is a wide selection, the vintages don't matter. Often, however, a rare spirit is guaranteed or believed to be the last bottles obtainable of its kind.

Drinking is a large cost item for every character:

- Water is free but very unhealthy (not implemented, automatic if nothing else is consumed)
- Mead costs about 1,000 m/jug and is unhealthy (30,000 m/real-day; 0.9 mil/real-month)
- Beer costs about 3,000 m/bottle (90,000 m/real-day; 2.7 mil/real-month)
- Wine starts from 10,000 m/bottle, although it is expected that the good vintages reach much higher prices
- Spirits start from 10,000 m/bottle, but the ones with medicinal value or imported brands are significantly higher, also the Town is levying a tax on these, as well as many kinds of drinks really, that being the single major source of tax income from V.5 onwards.

For reference, we already have 2 types of wine, one (W1600) costing 33,000 m/bottle and the other (W1600M) costing 67,000 m/bottle. (Costs are calculated using 1 IC == 400,000 m).

Now we sent an emissary to procure some spirits for the celebration:

CLXII (Cognac somehow related to this monarch)
CVS (Supposedly "Very Special" cognac, but in reality they had better ones as well but so did we (above))

When the High Ambassador entered the Court of the King of France and Navarre, presenting his matter, he was gifted 1,000 bottles of this rare cognac (the actual process of obtaining these treasures is much longer and involved intrigue). (1,000 IC deducted from the King's account). We tasted this cognac and indeed it was very good.

As for the CVS bottles, 1,000 were able to be procured quite effortlessly from a wholesaler, and now sit in the Town warehouse. Town will sell them at cost (heavily taxed though), maximum 200 bottles per character, at 200,000 m/bottle. (If you want to buy, just do the entries. The item is not restricted, it is quite normal cognac, but it is not obtainable at will as the W1600 wine is.)

Many might think that the Louis XII cognac could be iconic for the future gameplay, being found only in the best restaurants, marked up to dizzying heights; after all it seems to be quite old, named after a French king, acquired with intrigue (and a hefty IC cost), consumed liberally in the Bicentenary, the event that might happen again after 50 years if the King lives to be so old (84 physical years is not a blessing for everyone). Perhaps. You never know what takes off. Personally we treasure this cognac enough to reserve 500 bottles of it for the current celebration and the future ones. 250 bottles we give away as gifts to characters that play with style, and in our royal opinion deserve to have it. 250 bottles are auctioned publicly starting now, lasting for 48 hours as usual.

Bicentennial Celebration Preparations in Full Force

Everyone who reacts to the King's Calling as per the earlier message is invited to the Bicentennial Party!

You can check your status in /CHAR "N", ping me if I have forgotten to add you (after at least 24 hours from your post).

We ordered 12,000 bottles of wine to ensure that the month-long celebration does not become dry (it is expected that each guest drinks 30 bottles so there is "some" safety margin).

The wine is a special type of mixed wine, which does not qualify as Ancient, because A) it is forbidden to make ancient stuff B) it is bottled in 1600. Anyway, it cost double the per-bottle rate of the normal wine, so 2000 IC was spent on the purchase, making this the largest IC spend ever unless a higher amount is claimed that we don't know.

If we don't manage to drink it all, the guests will get some to take with them back home. It is likely that this mixed wine is higher rating than the W1600 vintage now, but it is unknown which one will be able to be aged longer and remain enjoyable.

The Summer Pavilion will also be used as part of the celebrations with its new large Wine Cellar.

Needless to say, this wine is special and by Royal Edict no similar wine or wine that claims to be older may ever be imported to the Kingdom. (All this without knowing if it even tastes good, but hopefully it does).

I have added 5760 bottles of W1600, and 1440 bottles of the W1600M wine to my personal collection--some of which will be sold at the Gilded Goose. I plan to have an extensive wine cellar at the Gilded Goose, which was just built yesterday, in fact! There is a wide array of fine wine and caviar available for purchase Smiley

In case you have forgotten what it looks like, Here's the video Smiley
