Op, you forgot to include "the right time". If you join Cryptocurrency when bitcoin was around $60k, believe me your heart will be doing you somehow by now even if you are a long term holder, watching your investment burn isn't palatable for emotion of human.
While crypto is very exciting and easy investment with little knowledge, the most important part is volatility. When there is high volatility, we tend to make sweet profit but when you are caught up in wrong trade, it's a fuc*** problem especially when it's related to Chinese news or crackdown.

The point that the long term value of a cryptocurrency taking bitcoin as a first is what makes the younger generation indulge into crypto and added the ease of use and censorship resistance. Dont generalize this to all crypto though, altcoins that do not run deflationary minting system will not be the same in terms of price.

Agreed that the long term is a much safer and easier to make bet. But keep in mind that the entry point becomes important here. Buying at prices at four digits and selling at five digits is obviously a profit. But not for the ones who FOMOed into the all time high price of bitcoin.

However bitcoin is more than just an investment method. It is a currency after all. Let that not become subdued. Cheesy

That's a shame, I can tell you one better, I have been around since 2013 and I haven't invested big into bitcoin, and the worst part, all the ones I invested ended up selling after getting a good return but not great ones.

I remember buying at 150 bucks, selling at 400 or so, I remember buying at 3k and selling at 10k as soon as it was reached, I finally got wiser and bought at 6k or so last march, and what did I do? I spent it on a project and now have nearly nothing (paid my debts at least).

I could have been a multi millionaire easily if I just kept all my bitcoins to myself, it is really hard to do so when you have to live a life and spend it on life stuff but it was a brilliant moment to get into bitcoin and wait, if I kept every single coin I made and sold them at 64k I would have 16 million dollars now, what do I have instead? Just a few years of being full-time crypto and that's it, sure I lived a life, paid bills, covered hospital visits, all that, didn't earned a single dollar fiat and never went to work all of that is awesome but comparing 5 years of decent life versus 16 million dollars hurts a lot.

it's like a game called hype. they are psychologically controlled, with less knowledge, they are lured with large returns, so they themselves find it easy to make money and invite friends to join, and they increase their investment by buying at high prices, without realizing they fall into a trap and suddenly the price dump, with a psychological that has not been formed, then finally panic sell occurs

Don't be regretful on the missing chances last 2017 but make it a fuel to see that there's a good opportunity will come since there are so many bull run will happen with bitcoin so its good to do some good action while the market is on bad shape. Although the price now is little bit expensive but I'm positive that we can see more pumps which projected to reach at $100k. Its a good opportunity for us to buy now and hold for future then sell when it reach at the target price.

I agree with what you said. Very fast price movements create opportunities for greater profits. I think in the future there will be a lot of people who will invest in crypto, be it long term investment or short term investment.

You can always decide for your own coins mate, specially when you are HOLDING because that is the most common thing for that we Bitcoin supporters will do.

LOL.. you managed to invest in Bitcoin at the worst possible time. Back in December 2017, we had the ATH with the exchange rates hitting $20,000 per coin. And you seems to have made your investment at the worst possible time. A few months back, the exchange rates fell by 85%, and hit $3,000 per coin. But I should appreciate your patience and integrity, since you didn't sold your coins. So if I am not wrong, you had to wait 3 years to get back in to green (the prices moved past your purchase price again by Q3 2020).
