I thought this was an informative post about CryptoNote block sizes and block subsidies

Note that the way it's written is somewhat confusing, and the last 2 needs to be superscript.

Here's my attempt (assuming I'm understanding it right):

Reward = baseReward - baseReward * (currentSize / medianLast100 - 1)2

As bitcoin continues to struggle with scaling I hope more people notice the solutions already built into CryptoNote coins.  The tail emission for Monero is another positive that will likely prove very hard for bitcoin to implement.

The blocksize scaling solution in Monero requires a tail emission otherwise when the emission becomes minimal or zero there is no penalty and no cost to increase the blocksize. This makes the Monero solution to this issue a non starter in Bitcoin.

I am really happy Monero made the wise decision to implement tail emission early on. The later this decision is debated the more difficult it will be for other coins to implement. Monero is unique in more than one way and many of our advantages will be hard to copy:)

Yah that too, but I just figured white was going with a6 regardless as they had discussed.

Either way black has this one  Tongue

Yes we were lucky to be able to activate our rooks. I was pretty sure we were headed for a draw earlier. Out of the opening Monero had an advantage.  Hopefully they will agree to another game after this one with colors reversed.

We just missed a mate in 5 which is what I thought you had calculated too until you changed ...
49.... Rg2+ 50.Rf2 Rxf2+ 51.Ke1 Rxb2 52.Be4+ Kf4 53.Bb1 Ra1 54.a7 Raxb1#

I actually did see the 49...Rg2+ (50.Kc1 Ra1+ 51.Rb1 Rc2+) threat which is why I originally voted for 48....Rg8 with you. The reason why I changed my mind was that 48....Rg8 49.Ke1 (preventing Rg2+) seemed like a reasonable defense.

I am pretty sure that if we had played Rg8 Monero would not have ignored our threat (by playing a6 like in the game) and would have found 49.Ke1. 48...Rcc3 was more sneaky because now white cannot escape with Ke1 and 50.Rf2 (to defend Re2+) does not work because of Rad3+ 51.Kc1 Re1 mate. Unless I am missing something we may now be winning. I see a few ways for Monero to prevent checkmate but they all provide us with a winning material advantage.

Why? If we had played Rg8 white could try to defend against our Rg2+ threat with Ke1. Now we can play Re3 cutting off the king while making a similar threat (Re2+). Our attack looks very strong now.

Bb7 has weakened whites control of several key squares on the a2-g8 diagonal making Rcc3 stronger than it would have been last move. White controls a6 and a8 but we can stop whites pawn at a7.

1 vote Rcc3 (languagehasmeaning)

I was thinking about that diagonal too but for a different reason (I think you were talking about the a2 square allowing white to play Ra2). We can now play Rg8 (which was covered by the bishop on d5 before) threatening to invade on the g file
