it looks like you are late for the party and bumping this thread may not help you get the answers you want
I was not a cryptopia customer, but it might be possible that the portal for filing the claims might have been such down a long time ago after all the title.

Try reading through this thread so that you may know how the process was. You could also try sending PMs to users who may have also gone through the process of filing for claims.

Hello,

Reviewing an old email I have come across the subject of the liquidation of Cryptopia, I have two questions, see if anyone can help me from people who have already completed the process. Is it possible to check the balance you were supposed to have on March 19, 2019 before performing the identity verification?

I do not want to give you my data to recover little money, but I seem to remember that I must have had between 1.5K and 2K at that time, the thing is that most were in shitcoins that I do not know their current value (I do not even remember shitcoins).... I mean, first you have to confirm your identity and then they tell you the balance? Or on the contrary, is it possible once you have access to the Settlement portal, to check the balance and if it is worth confirming the identity?  Huh Huh

And the other question I have is, do they return the total amount of the total balances in all the cryptocurrencies you had or only if you had BTC and Doge? Since it seems that all refunds will be made in one of those two currencies. Thank you very much in advance to anyone who can help me to solve these doubts.  Wink

Thank you.

I don't pay attention to them because i don't have any funds left over there, this mail could likely be a scamming bulk messages to defraud users so i will advised any one who received it to discard it because this might be action that effects from any of their staff to send such messages.

How authentic this could be from your investigation?

Sure you dont pay attention, you have no funds and not involved in this process...
if you do not know how the claim process of old financial statements works, moreover you are not interested in this recovery process.... your comment is pure spam and completely off topic.

To reply to your spam question their message its authentic.
the email comes from the portal that manage the old financial statements and you just need to access the platform ... to get this information without having to click on any link (they have also a 2-factor login!).

Please stop off topic/spam comments.

Wish all a good luck. I myself have been victim to Cryptsy , Mt Goc and also BTC-E which probably has the wildest back story and accusations ect almost reading like a Russian spy novel but hard lesson learned. Not your keys not your crypto… your keys your crypto. I’ve learned to only use exchanges for exchanging or small time trading. When done move all coins to a secure wallet that is in your procession and honestly cold storage is better. I don’t recommend using the same computer for internet use that you store valuable crypto on. Downloads emails n scams are abundant . Coming from a. Cubsrrsecuiry background these are some simple precautions to take . I see the hacking community and fraud moving into drainers and meta ask scams now like wildfire. It is very lucrative and many users don’t thinking clicking ok or signing away a transaction can lead to complete wallet disaster. Sorry to go off topic but I hope this can bring some awareness to other users and protect them in the future.

According their website
https://www.grantthornton.co.nz/cryptopia-limited/

Last update about this case has been made on June 2022. (4 months ago).

Now it should be the time for step 3
"Provides Account holders’ opportunity to agree that Cryptopia records represents amount due"

Anyone here on forum is involved in this process?
Have you received any update on this?
Any idea on how to get an update by them (other than send an email to [email protected]) ?

still looking forward to my remaining balances on cryptopia to withdraw its took too much time to give report how much balances left after the hack last tweet I think year's old.  Huh

The SEVENTH Cryptopia liquidation report has just been released (13 Jun) by Grant Thornton.

A final date has not yet been provided on which it will be possible to confirm / accept the balance of the motions in the exchange.

If you haven't still proceed for claims registration this is the right time to do so!

I hope this ends quickly and doesn't make the cryptopia members who have tried repeatedly to make claims feel more hurt....
because we know not all of them can forget their assets because some of them the assets in them are the only ones so they have high hopes of being able to return and I also hope that everything that belongs to me returns even though I have forgotten the total amount but see the price increase at this time of course will be a hidden pearl

I think we have all made this reasoning regarding "hidden pearls".
But beyond that, there are or not coins of value, these are still my coins so they should be returned to me.

At June 2022 it should be provided the first list of holdings...
Meanwhile for all readers if you have lost coins into the exchange follow procedure on https://portal.cryptopia.co.nz/ !

for now I don't get an email about the claim. But I have tried to make a claim in 2020 and until now there has been no notification about whether my claim has been received or not...
but what happened in cryptopia which has been happening for so long has indirectly been forgotten ,and I also can't expect much about btc and some tokens that are there because the old wound has healed

After the recent incident, people actually lost their trust in it and they didn't even care much about the money they lost. It has been two years since they announced that they will return the users' money, and as we see to this day, nothing has happened or not mentioned that anyone has actually succeeded in recovering his savings.

The process has been handled transparently and all information has been made public.
Even the various deadlines and milestones have always been respected.
It is normal that the old balance sheets have not yet returned also because the KYC procedure for the old hodlers is still in progress! Roll Eyes

Its been a while on this Cryptopia hack and now they do have some portal for those old users who could possibly make out some claims which is something good but not really be that hopeful.
You cant even be sure if they would really be giving it back or not.

I expect that this is done as a result of court decisions that are committed trying to recover the stolen money to those affected, but this does not mean at all that the matter may succeed even if they were able to access the stolen money. As it will be difficult to return the money without verifying the identity of its owners.
As far as I know, the identity verification procedures on the platform were not a prerequisite for its use, and therefore there are many accounts and funds that are difficult to combine.

This platform did not have a good reputation since the late years of its activity after it was discovered that it supports tokens for scammed projects and that it sets financial conditions only for its inclusion on the platform, as I remember. This is in addition to the fact that its support team never responds quickly enough.

It has been two years since they announced that they will return the users' money, and as we see to this day, nothing has happened or not mentioned that anyone has actually succeeded in recovering his savings.
But at least we are seeing some effort or steps for having the possibility of recovery of those amounts as a user of this exchange. No one really anticipates that they have done something like this because

if you do tend to look on similar cases, platforms do close up their doors totally but there were exemptions considering that some instances where funds cant really be retrieved down or does have
some chance or simply it would be situational.

after registering in their portal they should have contacted you to complete the KYC. If you have not completed, your procedure has not been registered/not completed.
If you want to check your status try to login through their portal and verify what the status of your registration is
https://portal.cryptopia.co.nz/
but what happened in cryptopia which has been happening for so long has indirectly been forgotten ,and I also can't expect much about btc and some tokens that are there because the old wound has healed
even if a few cents of bitcoin, this is an opportunity to get them back Wink

Yes, I agree. There might be a hidden gem on the account that you have already forgotten.
The only problem with their support is taking a while to reply to your ticket or solve it, even if you already provided the information needed.
Actually, I'm still waiting for their reply to reset the 2FA on their support website (https://cryptopia.zendesk.com/hc/en-us) to check the status of my claims.

I have not seen any recent topic about this liquidation, sorry to bump an old thread but this discussion it could help other users that are not aware of this claim.

As you may know,

In August 2020 an ex-employee* admitted stealing historic private keys (and subsequently funds) from the Company. All funds taken were subsequently recovered by the liquidators. No connection between this theft and the January 2019 hack has been identified.
