What I would also like to know, is how much money was recovered in total, and what is the amount the lawyers will get for this (at 33%)
In all of the paperwork I have not seen the total amount available.

This settlement leaves open options for going after cryptsy and vern... That makes me happy.

Is this figure of 33% going to the lawyers actually stated in the paperwork? If that is the case, is there any connection between the organisers of the class suit asking these lawyers to fight the case and their own link with the lawyers? If there is a conflict of interest then surely that in itself is plain wrong

I can't wait until someone finds Perv Vern.

It's only a matter of time --  TALL, rich, white dude in China after all....

It can't be fun always looking over your shoulder all the time, & having thousands of enemies.

Who would not want to be a fly on the wall if he ever gets caught?

Just checked my old emails and noted that Cryptsy scammed me long before they shutdown and long before most others were scammed.

I had problems logging in to their website at Cryptsy. They would not let me reset it. They ignored subsequent requests. A few weeks later I received a message from someone saying he was away on leave and just got back and wanted to ask about my logging in problems but even after that they did not allow me to reset my password and log in to Cryptsy.

How many years imprisonment would the owners of Cryptsy get if they returned to the USA?

Is it a fact or a rumour that he is in China?

Does the USA and China have an extradition treaty?

No, no treaty with the US and China. Vern will never return.

As for some of the other comments...

Verns ex got to keep $250k. This was $250k of stolen money. Please remember that.
She keeps that, Vern keeps all the rest that he stole.

Cryptsy got away with stealing all the money. The original hack aside, every penny taken in after the fact was stolen by cryptsy for sure. you cannot deny that or spin it in any other way. Vern will never come back, the ex got more money than she would have gotten from any other source (who knows if she could afford to keep that house anyway)

Vern ran away. He got away with it.

The lawyers make an assload of cash. His ex makes 250k. Vern got whatever he could steal on the way out, and no longer has the responsibility of caring for his family, The investors get raped after they were robbed.

This all being said, the only ones who were ever going to get ahead in this were the lawyers and the scumbags.

I had VERY little at cryptsy when scumbag legged it. my problem is that it happened, and how it happened.
I dont care who you try to convince, I will never believe the employees knew nothing. Never. If you ever worked for a job that wasnt burger related, you know damn well the goings on of such a small company....

Speakin' 'bout Coinbase, do you know how many subscribers they have on their official YouTube channel?: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCh8SaNA0WEuCp7xtjIU8QTQ/about

You guessed correctly if you said 508.

uh, why the hell would anyone want to subscribe to coinbase's youtube channel? there ain't gonna be anything worth watching on it.

are you subscribed to your bank's youtube channel? or your sewage company's?

Not worth watching vids:

A better question is why this channel has over 13K subscribers?: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCNfpyzzNu3ix1aD0s5DUong/videos

So they have lots of money. They can make up the shortfall for losses incurred by Cryptsy investors

"If" (only if) Coinbase was involved directly or indirectly, knowingly or unknowingly in assisting Paul Vernon screw his investors, then Coinbase should pay Cryptsy victims!

i followed the money, it's not on the cryptsy servers, its located on poliniex now, site is same setup

Wow, this needs to reported the class action group so they can look in to it and try to seize assets if Poloniex are holding Cryptsy money

The Receivers already know. It was in one of their reports that they are aware of coins sent to Poloniex

Does anyone know the value of these coins sent to Poloniex?

Poloniex is about to get hammered, Coinbase-style!

You guessed correctly if you said 508. Not too shabby for a company worth a billion dollars where over U$120M worth of VC by deep-pocket investors helped built the entity, with Coinbase now seeking another U$100M so to ... wait for it ... garner another 508 YouTube subscribers.

3-LA: Great, another crypto-based thingy seeking U$100M. Where's my stamp so that I can approve this SEC filing?

3-LA: We just won another case! Party's on me, boys. So glad that they're locking up that young man sans priors for life for ... wait for it ... creating and maintaining a website.

3-LA: Sonny Vleisides, your business smells fishy! If I see you here again, I'll slap another U$100 fine on your scammy ass and extend your probation. Promise me that you'll be on a good track from now on. May I suggest you take up acting? Hey, you could play an FBI agent in some upcoming movie to be released in 2017.

3-LA: GET YOUR ASSES ON THE FLOOR! All three of yous. And if either one moves, the little girl gets it in the head. We don't think too kindly of you trading bitcoins as a hobby, bud. While we tear your home to pieces, us 32 agents are gonna see what you have in fridge so to quench our thirsts.

Lead Cryptsy Dude closes down office and none of its ~50 employees felt it prudent to warn its user base, the closure uncovered by a reporter over two weeks after the fact.

Ironically, Mrs. Lead Cryptsy Dude didn't have a clue as to what was goin' on, in spite of her being well-schooled in investigations at the expense of the US military. For her being SOOOOOOOOOOO outta the loop, she was reward a quarter of a million dollars.

An astute user uncovered that Patrick Dai is none other than Steven Dai, but all of Qtum associated went on record in denouncing the claim, calling those who echoed the claim paid trolls with agendas et al. Ironically, Patrick Dai came forth and declared that such was true and that everybody, including his team and investors were well aware of the fact, whereupon Qtum's associates NEVER revisited or addressed subsequent claims. We later learnt that none of the investors were versed that Patrick Dai was once Steven Dai, a  nefarious actor in this space.

Only goes to show, if you rip off a million dollars in this space, simply wait a spell and return under a new name, where not only is all forgiven, but you're granted a million dollars from named investors so to advance your ICO in garnering another U$15M for a business plan that consists of marrying Bitcoin with Ethereum under the auspices of non-profit, where your pre-mined token is allowed to be traded on the exchanges which they control directly and indirectly under the pre-launch ticker symbol QTUM. Fuckin genius!

A new Russian-based entity is formed so to act as a liaison for an entity whose business model consists of created a token designed to back tokens that are designed to back tokens which they are ... you're not gonna believe this ... designed to back tokens.

No wonder those behind FedCoin started jacking off all over themselves where saw what the fuck was happening.

And don't even get me started as to how Robert Mercer fits into all of this, but I'll give you a taste nonetheless: https://www.wired.com/2016/09/trumps-campaign-ceos-little-known-world-warcraft-career/

I dont know exact of the US law is but if someone has stole cryptos so should give back reconstruction value isnt ?

I had some of cryptos there and i dont car US dollars I dont care gold ... i dont care corn etc... etc ..  I care exact cryptos

agreed ?

I think the way the law works almost everywhere (except super-corrupt countries) is that the enforcement officers will confiscate assets belonging to the company or those that were purchased from proceeds of the scam, they are then sold with the recovered money being distributed between the people that lost out.

As Paul Vernon has vanished and no bitcoins or other altcoins will be recovered it seems the only assets that have been recovered are a mansion and maybe a car or two. This totals just under $2 million or so. It is this amount that will be used to pay back investors who signed up to the class action. I missed the deadline and did not register.

I think there will be legal fees involved as well which will be deducted from the $2m as well therefore the amount received by the people who claimed will be even less.
