Chinese nationals indicted for laundering cryptocurrency for Lazarus Group

"Two Chinese nationals who are alleged to have laundered around $100 million in cryptocurrency on behalf of the infamous North Korean hackers Lazarus Group have been indicted by the U.S. Department of Justice."

"The indictment did not name the cryptocurrency exchanges targeted, but at least one is easy to match: the hack of Cryptsy in July 2014 that saw the theft of $9.5 million in cryptocurrency."

https://siliconangle.com/2020/03/03/chinese-nationals-indicted-laundering-cryptocurrency-lazarus-group/

https://www.justice.gov/opa/pr/two-chinese-nationals-charged-laundering-over-100-million-cryptocurrency-exchange-hack

Looks like bad reporting. The stolen Bitcoin (where I assume the 9.5 million figure came from) has never moved and therefore has not been laundered. The author should have done some research.

Finally coinbase on the floor .
After 3 year suffering with this shit !!
Coinbase think ,they can settlement done in 1 million ( it's not complete 1
million )
Valid claim (what X amount should pay ) per user files !!! ( Total people of confirm +681)
( Those who unable to claim ownership / they going to lose 100% )
First it's not 2017 , where settlement done in 1 million ( second btc price
sky High / settlement should be in 2 billion  dollars)

Coinbase involve in money laundering  & milking on them . ( Example  vern buy
million dollars home , car , ring & etc. before divorce )
Home 2million dollars = btc price 400x btc sell 5,000 =get 2 million !!!
He pay in cash buying 2millions house Tongue
Only home ( get number btc 5k wow )
Cryptsy also have millions dollars altcoin( not just ltc , btc & dash )

Only investigate vern bank account deposit  money income by coinbase !!
Without coinbase Vern account/ identified , how much crypto coin  !!
He dumping in coinbase !!
( Still not including Vern wife bank account )

It's upto silver lawyer .
They really wanna fight for ( justice ) or
Get settlement in unjustified way !!
They choose to fight for justice / make settlement on 2 billion dollars (
it's maybe remarkable achivement in crypto space )  both side they get 30%
cuts
Let see corporate vs crypto user
( who lost something & some off those,  who lose everything  )

Receviership mistyped sum of Bitcoins Vernon transferred to Coinbase directly from Cryptsy - it is 11000 BTC not 1100.

One more thing on which receivership have to pay special attention:

Vernon sent on these Coinbase addresses -  1Jnz9XLNMdSyx1vPCsgQQkZYy2SrXsJcmE and 1LBDM5jvaE1e32KktyEyzWoPkY2CddUBZJ  BTCs directly from Cryptsy wallets. In total for both addresses it is 11695 BTCs.He did not changed it for 2 years,so I believe it was probably registred on Cryptsy and funds obtained from selling BTCs deposited on these addresses were probably used to pay Cryptsy and Vernon expenses in US (salaries, hardware, renting offices on Florida and Canada, buying big house, SUVs...)

But, rest of BTCs, 10012 BTCs were sent to his personal BTC wallets directly from Cryptsy wallets or from other exchanges accounts on which he was selling users altcoins for BTCs.He also sent them on Coinbase, but not on above addresses - he generated new deposit address for each transaction from personal wallets. In mine previous posts I list founded till now deposit addresses.I dont think so that Coinbase account was registred on Cryptsy, most likely it is personal account(or registred on his offshore company) .

Coinbase could give valuable help by providing list of all his money transfers - personal and business.

But,also Vernon sent BTCs from Cryptsy(and also received BTCs from selling Cryptsy altcoins on other exchanges) to his personal wallets - 9166 BTCs, where 6067 came directly from Cryptsy and 3099 from selling altcoins on other exchanges

Main addreses of these wallets are :

1MSijnGgNRFKJAMweRcPCbF8whSpdyDUkm  and    1oFmWzZRF6b2kTiTrkSJ7CQZ2JnB351oH

1Naz8JLF8STQbZ9hqAVn8wej8pMKGW5v1x

https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/m.14579191

He also sent them on Coinbase and here is a list of deposit addresses he used:

https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/m.14866478

In mine previous post I gave just rough picture of founded P.Vernon personal BTC wallets. Now I will try to analize Vernon personal BTC wallets one by one in details.

First wallet on the address:

https://www.walletexplorer.com/wallet/0e1ddbdb3eee19e8

There are 2 main addresses in this wallet :   1MSijnGgNRFKJAMweRcPCbF8whSpdyDUkm  and    1oFmWzZRF6b2kTiTrkSJ7CQZ2JnB351oH

For address 1oFmWzZRF6b2kTiTrkSJ7CQZ2JnB351oH we know it belongs to P.Vernon himself - he posted it in his profile on Bitcointalk:

https://bitcointalksearch.org/user/bigvern-93918

Address  1oFmWzZRF6b2kTiTrkSJ7CQZ2JnB351oH was used until 30.July.2014,then suddenly stopped and all deposits starting to come on address 1MSijnGgNRFKJAMweRcPCbF8whSpdyDUkm

Few additional evidences support claim that it is Vernon BTC wallet:

- all deposits were from old hot Cryptsy wallet which was under Vernon sole control and from which regular user could not directly get BTCs.

- address 1MSijnGgNRFKJAMweRcPCbF8whSpdyDUkm received transaction of 110 BTCs directly from old hot Cryptsy wallet and we know that limit for memebrs per transaction was 100 BTC,so only Vernon could sent bigger than 100 BTC limit transaction - (something we already see when he sent BTCs on BTCC for Bitebi9):

https://www.walletexplorer.com/address/1MSijnGgNRFKJAMweRcPCbF8whSpdyDUkm

https://www.walletexplorer.com/txid/d0de81b490aa5682f574e5ca8e79cd5550c992e8908df75c0fb787fe9823f73f

So, this Vernon personal wallet  https://www.walletexplorer.com/wallet/0e1ddbdb3eee19e8       received until theft on 29.July.2014 only 45 BTCs.

After theft it received:

- 33.96 BTC from Mintpal

- 1862.3 BTCs from old hot Cryptsy wallet

- 75.41 BTCs from BTER

- 166.33 BTCs from Poloniex

- 220.88 BTCs from Bittrex

----------------------------------------------

Total: 2358.88 BTCs plus additional from other ,not yet recognized addresses

From this Vernon wallet 162.34 BTCs went to Coinbase - on wallet:

Deposit address on Coinbase was - 1Jnz9XLNMdSyx1vPCsgQQkZYy2SrXsJcmE :

2162.6 BTCs were removed to others Vernon wallets:

1949.1 BTCs to wallet:

 https://www.walletexplorer.com/wallet/08f327da1f81626a

and 213.5 BTCs to wallet

now it's not base allegation / thunderjet already show us , how coinbase shadow business expose / where deep pockets investors ready to dumping money/ coinbase buy them cheap btc million of dollars without price impact on market /
Coinbase is the one channel, who can turn btc into USD in high scale???
No company ready to pay 1 dollar / just base on allegation ( coinbase ready to paying +900k dollars  )
Big red Flag before conducting business million of dollars
( history must review ) cryptsy was hack in 2014 / coinbase fully ignoring that red flag .
On that time crypto space Market not so big !!

 Roll Eyes Coinbase innocent hmmm
https://www.silvermillerlaw.com/current-investigations/coinbase-class-action/

Cryptsy database gone forever with pig Vern.
Database was evidence for Vern critical crime & great proof !!
Vern full intention ( steal all bitcoin , altcoin )

Where coinbase 2014 may denied
access to review Vern coinbase account.
Coinbase under support of vern or not !!
Coinbase action show loud & clear

The Coinbase Case alleges that Coinbase unlawfully aided and abetted the conduct of Cryptsy and Vernon by allowing them to have
accounts on the Coinbase platform or that Coinbase was negligent by, for example, failing to employ proper due diligence and other
supervisory procedures over the accounts that Cryptsy and Vernon controlled on the Coinbase platform. The Coinbase Case also
alleges that Cryptsy and Vernon used their accounts on the Coinbase platform to convert to U.S. Dollars the cryptocurrency that
Cryptsy and Vernon allegedly stole from the Cryptsy account holders who are the Class Members in this lawsuit. Plaintiff alleged that
Coinbase knew or should have known that Cryptsy and Vernon were engaged in such unlawful conduct, and assisted Cryptsy and
Vernon by allowing them to open and maintain accounts on the Coinbase platform.
Coinbase denied these allegations, and contended that it did not know about any of the alleged theft, did not have any reason to know
of the alleged theft, and did not have any legal responsibility for the alleged actions of Cryptsy and Vernon.

Coinbase sattlement  is END GAME

Pig Vern well played ,
happy in China with million dollar  bags !!
( Coinbase still playing I don't know game )

Is there anybody of you applied fot the Cryptsy Settlement Claim in past?

I sent my form in the year 2017 as I remember, and now I just asked for the confirmation, that my claim is activ and there is everything allright.

I got that reply with the message that my claim was not accepted cause I do not have enough evidence:

Thank you for contacting the Coinbase Settlement Administrator.

According to our records, you were e-mailed regarding your Cryptsy Settlement Claim on September 15, 2017.
Your claim was deficient as it did not include screenshots or account statements as outlined in the deficiency notice.

As a result, you were not included in the in the class of claimants who received a payout from the settlement fund.
For more information, please visit www.cryptsysettlement.com or www.coinbasesettlement.com.

Thank you,

Coinbase Settlement Administrator

That sounds very strange to me, they want have screenshots of my account. Im since 2013 registered in many exchanges and never do screenshots- is it fact that if I do not have screenshots, they will not accept my claim?

Let's be real, we all waiting for that 11k BTC wallet be opened by the lawyers one day since they own it?! so we can get 66.667% of what we owned in BTC. Look at what you did to many Paul instead of being patient with the losses of 2014 running a successful business now ur on the run possibly not seeing ur own family again.

In another note who else just thinking MAYBE I should call for a court hearing instead of just take the little we can get from this? any1?

12.  What does the settlement provide?

Coinbase has agreed to create a Settlement Fund of $962,500. After deducting attorneys’ fees, costs, applicable taxes, and other monies, fees and expenses (see Question 19), the Settlement Fund will be distributed to Class Members who file valid claims.

As a Settlement Class Member, you will give up, or “release,” your claims against Coinbase. The release includes any claims made or that could have been made arising from or related to the facts alleged in this lawsuit. The release is described in more detail in the Settlement Agreement and in Question 16 below.

Looks like lawyers get a windfall and the Corruptsy victims will probably get pennies.* Big surprise there.

* Speaking of pennies, wasn't there some scammy crypto called pennies  that Corruptsy listed, iirc ? I think I mighta even traded some. It was all monopoly funny money to me back then. lol

962k$ that's all? Sounds ridiculous. I'm sure, there was lot's of members, they lost individually more than 962k$

But after few years there is something going on. I thought everybody forgot cryptsy

Well ,I have lost many cryptocurrencies many of that I don't even remember which they are today. it was one of the first favorite exchanges I used.

Also, we obtained for Cryptsy account holders a judgment against Paul Vernon, which we hope to one day collect. We do not know if or when this may occur, or how much money may be recovered.

There was already a settlement a while back from the class action lawsuit.  Are you saying the there may be more that we could get back? I did get a small percentage back from my loss.

Yes!

Did anyone investigate the other coins that forked BTC? Those could be liquidated on the forked chain.

Also there may be another reason that the coins didn't move. Take the coins off the market in order to pump BTC after the fork. Leaving many traders without capitol to leverage against them.

If that is the case they made much more than what is sitting in that address. Think of all the profits that were taken on Cryptsy alt pumps and dumps insider trading that they wrung out BTC with and nobody will look at that coin and where it went.

I must have missed this. Paul Vernon must still be around. He stole a bunch of my money when Cryptsy went down. Is there any chance that authorities will catch him?

nop. successfully complete his mission / bags of coin unloading in china (  bitcoin turn into cash Help off Coinbase , buy back Bitcoin in otc way with no track left behind ) its over now

How do you know it has anything to do with Coinbase? If funds were transferred through Coinbase addresses, they had to be done through a verified account and the track would have to be there.

next CLASS Action on coinbase & hold on .

Surely, the receiver didn't skip the same math classes that Leroy Fodor skipped while earning his B.B.A. from Ohio University in Athens, OH, eh?

Further, how the fuck was the receiver able to confirm a hack occurred when the general consensus is that it was an inside job by none other than Paul Vernon?
Bump.

Checked txid and it looks like the mother load of hacked coins (11K+) hasn’t budged.
At this point, I highly doubt anyone has the keys, including Vern the worm.

It seems to remain a mystery, just like Satoshi's wallets. And it will certainly be better that this is what happened and no one moved it.
Whenever coins from forgotten wallets start moving, at the market is starting panic.
