is there any topic for beginners?
is there any topic that collect best timing for each card
i have sapphire rx470 4GB Elpida and on ETH have 29.5Mh/s
is it the best result i can have?

It's a complex topic, so it takes a lot of reading and research to understand.
At 29.5Mh/s for eth, you're not going to get much better than that anyway.

So you've been playing with umr Smiley
Are you going to release your tool for the public or keep it private? I myself have similar tool that does that but only for private use.

I recently decided to take another look at RAM timings now that many people have been playing with custom timings for several months.

Instead of zeroing FAW/32AW as I do in my strapmod utility, I think it is better to set them low.  7/10 seems to be standard for Hynix straps, while 6/8 is typical for Samsung.  My testing so far using 6/8 on Hynix gives the same performance for eth mining as 0/0, while potentially being more stable at higher memory clocks.
I also suspect the field labels may be reversed, so FAW is really 32AW, and vice-verse.  In my testing, when I set "FAW" to 8 or 10 while leaving "32AW" to zero, I see no slowdown in ethash speed.

I may update my strapmod when I'm done, but my goal is to finally finish a Linux tool I started working on last year that tweaks timings at runtime.  This allows for tuning the memory timing for ethash, equihash, or cryptonight without reflashing the BIOS and rebooting.  It has already greatly improved strap testing, as I have been able to modify timings on the fly while mining; I don't even have to restart the miner.  I still crash the GPU a lot, as dynamically switching between two sets of good timing will still cause a hang depending on which timings you switch in what order.

Hi all, just got 2x Aorus 580 8gb thinking they will perform better than thier 4gb (Hynix Ajr) counterparts. Ended up discovering that this Hynix h5gc8h24mjr is SO different than the the Hynix AJR!
The 4gb RX 580s aorus hynix Ajr are speed devils, i was wondering why people curse hynix if i can run them ~ 1200mhz/2125-2200 getting 925-1008 H/s! (and can still go higher stable!!! with GG 1.3 pre6b or GGS but rather keep them at 1200-1225mhz core)
So far i tried the following with my 8gb (h5gc8h24mjr) 1536(RI)x2(Threads)x8(Work) and many many variations with 1250 mhz/2250. nothing so far gave me anything above 900 h/s!
With Eth though, they perform really well equivalent to the 4gb (which can steady 32.5 mh/s!)

My questions now, i tried both those straps they are quite similar, the cards max reaches 2100mhz and then gives artifacts (if main gpu) or just blue screens.
So shall i just pass the 2250 limit and overclock memory as far as i can? with a higher core clock as others do? (i didn't like the idea to have a 1350/2350mhz undervolted mining, feels so stressy for mining)?
What Raw intensities worked for you guys with the same memory? the 896/8/2 GG is insanely a sweet spot for the 580/570?

Try R0land's fixed timing:

zeroed: tFAW, t32AW
fixed some others.

i need a good cryptonight strap for h5gq8h24mjr
I need it too.

Don't we all?
Akakakakakkakaa, count me in.
For 1150 2100, max i can get only 930 h/s for xmr. How about others?

which card is used to get 930 amd or nvidia Huh
My RX 470 4 GB Elpida Card makes 930 H/s XMR ... Core @1150, Mem @ 2050 ... sgminer 896/8/2 ... 55W(gpuz) ... 0 Memoryerrors
R0land´s Strap mix:  777000000000000022AA1C00315A5436A0550F15B68C1506004082007C041420CA8980A9020004C 01712262B612B3715 (copy from PBE)
The data from GPUZ are a little bit different : 777000000022AA1C0315A5436A055F15B68C1560408207C41420CA8980A9204C01712262B612B37 15
Why are the data different ?

It skips some double 00 pairs and shows them as either 1 zero or doesn't show them at all. Also, it moves the bits around. This is not raw format. Not in endian, the bits are probably grouped together for each timing.

Also, i dont see how you can be making 930h/s with that strap at such low clocks and this wrong miner config.

At 1380/2000, with the same strap and 896/8/2, sgminer barely pulls 500h/s.
With 896/8/1 its doing 700h/s.
With 512/4/2 its doing 850h/s.

Also, that strap TRCDR is not the same with TRCDRA.

Same miner config for my RX470 and RX480 cards gives me even lower hash rates (450h/s). Considering, you need to do ~1k raw intensity total on both Linux and Windows, i dont see how you can be pushing 1.8k raw intensity.
Pretty much depends...seeing this strap I seriously doubt it can handle 2050 without errors.
If the card is dedicated, the strap works realy good and stable (24h, 0 rejected shares). But if you also use the card for working with the OS, sometimes the miner doesn´t start with 896 worksize or BSOD. Dedicated no problems.
At 1100/2000 it makes  ~30 ETH wth claymore single mode, and no error.

Don´t try 1380/2000 ... 1100/2000 @850mv is maybe better (~890h/s) .

Good luck  Wink

Okay.... I found the issue.

It was the drivers.

The way, you, Roland were doing things were entirely different.

By default, the RX *70 and *80 cards maximum Raw Intensity is 512 at -w 4 and 2 threads.

BUT, the Compute mode (BlockChain driver), is the thing that helps with overcoming this issue.

I tested today with 17.12.11 with Gaming mode, Compute mode, the mentioned strap, and sgminer configs of 512/4/2 and 896/8/2.

Results were as follow:
235w at wall (whole rig, testing only the 580, so assume ~100w for card, ~80% PSU eff.). For all straps and configs. Temps ... around the same.

1380mhz Core/2000mhz Mem, 1100mv/750mv.

Roland strap, 512/4/2, gaming mode : 750h/s.
Roland strap, 512/4/2, compute mode : 750h/s.
Roland strap, 896/8/2, gaming mode : ~700h/s.
Roland strap, 896/8/2, compute mode : 950h/s.

My strap, 512/4/2, gaming mode : 950h/s.
My strap, 512/4/2, compute mode : 950h/s.
My strap, 896/8/2, gaming mode : ~750h/s.
My strap, 896/8/2, compute mode : 1024h/s.

did you test it for eth other than that 30MH test? i don't understand why so many zero's went away -_-

What ETH? I think you got the wrong quote.

Anyway, if you provide me with proper sgminer config, i will test it.
I tested with : -X 448 -w 256 -g 2
at 1380mhz/2000mhz, and it was doing 28.7Mh/s at ~130w for the GPU. If the config is not correct - those numbers will go up.

I've spent the last 2 weeks reading and combing through forums but I can't seem to find the answer to what I'm looking for.

I have 1 gpu that's giving me trouble, it's an MSI 580 8gb with hynix H5GQ8H24MJ.

I tried .roms and straps from others, I tried to make my own. I even tried to learn basic python just to use some of the resources in this forum but I really not good enough yet.

What can I do to mod this bios effectively?

https://imgur.com/a/uXVH7

Some have offered to sell me straps, but learning it on my own is why I'm here. Although I'm about ready to pull the trigger.

If there's a resource here that I missed, I apologize.

Any help or nudges in the right direction would be great.

I have a rx 560 with the same memory and the straps looks like the same. Smiley
Try this strap:

777000000000000022AA1C00B56A6D46C0551017BE8E060C006AE6000C081420EA8900AB0300000 01C143840DB324418

Good luck !

I copied to 1750 and up and got a crash around 60 C. That's been a consistent problem with every single bios attempt on this card, it crashes when temps increase.

Think I should RMA it? less than 30 days old

Try R0land's fixed timing:
777000000000000022AA1C00B56A6D46C0551017BE8E060C006006000C0A1420AA8900A00300000 01612343CC0314417 # less memory errors due to increased write recovery , good for ethash
zeroed: tFAW, t32AW
fixed some others.

reduced write recovery
reduced actrd, actwr and RP/WR+RP

It looked like the mod was going to work great initially with solo eth @ 28.5mh/s then the temp increased to 61 C and it crashed again after about 2 minutes :/
Do you use Claymore and the new adrenalin-driver ? That´s maybe the problem. Huh

I'm using claymore on win 10 with blockchain drivers. all of my other GPU are performing fine. Just the one MSI. I submitted an RMA. hopefully I'll get one back with samsung mem.

If anyone else has a custom rom I can try before I ship it out tomorrow I would appreciate it! I'm about to give up.

Good luck !

I copied to 1750 and up and got a crash around 60 C. That's been a consistent problem with every single bios attempt on this card, it crashes when temps increase.

Think I should RMA it? less than 30 days old

Try R0land's fixed timing:

zeroed: tFAW, t32AW
fixed some others.

Some have offered to sell me straps, but learning it on my own is why I'm here. Although I'm about ready to pull the trigger.

If there's a resource here that I missed, I apologize.

Any help or nudges in the right direction would be great.
