i need a good cryptonight strap for h5gq8h24mjr
I need it too.

Don't we all?
Akakakakakkakaa, count me in.
For 1150 2100, max i can get only 930 h/s for xmr. How about others?

which card is used to get 930 amd or nvidia Huh
My RX 470 4 GB Elpida Card makes 930 H/s XMR ... Core @1150, Mem @ 2050 ... sgminer 896/8/2 ... 55W(gpuz) ... 0 Memoryerrors
R0land´s Strap mix:  777000000000000022AA1C00315A5436A0550F15B68C1506004082007C041420CA8980A9020004C 01712262B612B3715 (copy from PBE)
The data from GPUZ are a little bit different : 777000000022AA1C0315A5436A055F15B68C1560408207C41420CA8980A9204C01712262B612B37 15
Why are the data different ?

It skips some double 00 pairs and shows them as either 1 zero or doesn't show them at all. Also, it moves the bits around. This is not raw format. Not in endian, the bits are probably grouped together for each timing.

Also, i dont see how you can be making 930h/s with that strap at such low clocks and this wrong miner config.

At 1380/2000, with the same strap and 896/8/2, sgminer barely pulls 500h/s.
With 896/8/1 its doing 700h/s.
With 512/4/2 its doing 850h/s.

Also, that strap TRCDR is not the same with TRCDRA.

Same miner config for my RX470 and RX480 cards gives me even lower hash rates (450h/s). Considering, you need to do ~1k raw intensity total on both Linux and Windows, i dont see how you can be pushing 1.8k raw intensity.
Pretty much depends...seeing this strap I seriously doubt it can handle 2050 without errors.
If the card is dedicated, the strap works realy good and stable (24h, 0 rejected shares). But if you also use the card for working with the OS, sometimes the miner doesn´t start with 896 worksize or BSOD. Dedicated no problems.
At 1100/2000 it makes  ~30 ETH wth claymore single mode, and no error.

Don´t try 1380/2000 ... 1100/2000 @850mv is maybe better (~890h/s) .

Good luck  Wink

Okay.... I found the issue.

It was the drivers.

The way, you, Roland were doing things were entirely different.

By default, the RX *70 and *80 cards maximum Raw Intensity is 512 at -w 4 and 2 threads.

BUT, the Compute mode (BlockChain driver), is the thing that helps with overcoming this issue.

I tested today with 17.12.11 with Gaming mode, Compute mode, the mentioned strap, and sgminer configs of 512/4/2 and 896/8/2.

Results were as follow:
235w at wall (whole rig, testing only the 580, so assume ~100w for card, ~80% PSU eff.). For all straps and configs. Temps ... around the same.

1380mhz Core/2000mhz Mem, 1100mv/750mv.

Roland strap, 512/4/2, gaming mode : 750h/s.
Roland strap, 512/4/2, compute mode : 750h/s.
Roland strap, 896/8/2, gaming mode : ~700h/s.
Roland strap, 896/8/2, compute mode : 950h/s.

My strap, 512/4/2, gaming mode : 950h/s.
My strap, 512/4/2, compute mode : 950h/s.
My strap, 896/8/2, gaming mode : ~750h/s.
My strap, 896/8/2, compute mode : 1024h/s.

It was only the wind.

The wolfamdvolt/ohgodavolt? Full automation - it dynamically opens up the I2C interface of each GPU and runs a detect function for every supported VRM, which will find it if it's there. Once found, that VRM's functions are used to get/set shit as requested.

How is that different to solution presented by ethos? I mean does your tool give more control?

ethOS bought the tool FROM wolf to implement in their OS ...

So it is actually same tool in ethos?

edit. It is certainly not the same thing... New driver just work with simple voltage table edits. You can do it with polaris easly. With old driver it simply didn't work.

Yeah - EthOS doesn't even report the right voltage. I can get it DIRECTLY from the VRM. I can also fuck with shit like load-line calibration to achieve better undervolts - it's helpful when overvolting, but disabling it or diminishing it is perfect for undervolting. I have total control over ANYTHING that chip can do - it's far more than even MSI AB or a Windows tool will give.

Why Hawaii in general although having Loads of compute cores (40,44) and a massive memory bandwidth +even the 390/x one is hynix AJR. STILL lacks as hell in Cryptonight?

ethash and equihash are the algos I've done the most work with, so I can't comment much on cryptonight.  What I do know is that until GCN3 (i.e. R9 380/380x) it didn't seem possible to max out the memory bandwidth.  I suspect it is just the memory controller design; arbitrating dozens of memory accesses is a very complicated thing.

Guys could you please confirm if there are special custom strap for ETN. I mean:

optimal timing for ETH will be different than for cryptonight (ETH)?

I got different gpus with different kind of memories, on ETC/ETH almost all of them going above 30 mhs. But with ETN highest is 770 and in same cases not even 700 (same strap).
Use gatelessgate (older version or a stable from Sharp releases) and set RI 896 W 8 Threads: 2 my 3x 580 4gb Aorus Hynix fly on these settings. 925 H/s with 1150/1175 Core 925 mv (950 for main gpu) errorless memory of (2090, 2175,2200) the 2200 one does 975 h/s

Also my rx 570 elpida/ 570 MSI gaming (hynix brand new, barely hits 2050mhz memory) both are within 840 h/s
Claymore is WAY lower. and Zawawa's miner is really advanced. i have some Hawaii cards that are taking my time though to fiddle with 9too hot here) so i didn't do more undervolting.

Have questions to the folks here.
Nerdralph, i reallly like you man and like your tool. Surely Wolf too and many others!
I have many questions though, i hope you can answer
Why Hawaii in general although having Loads of compute cores (40,44) and a massive memory bandwidth +even the 390/x one is hynix AJR. STILL lacks as hell in Cryptonight? Both GG/SGminer &XMR stak have not a SINGLE raw intensity that gives any meaningful speed! also, I can't even fill the memory on the 390! 1280 RI X2 threads never works well. i tried even 3 threads with 640 RI loads of combos never really worked!
The Hynix AJR is a modern memory (same as polaris!?)
Only Claymore which i beleve injects work in chunks somehow, gives me 870 h/s at stock R9 390 1040mhz/1500 when i change to -h 928 instead of 1280, -dmem 1 (which takes much less memory!) speed increases!

I'm about to use Nerdralph tool to edit all the 1000-1500 straps and see which gives highest speed without errors
OR, should i just loosen the 1625 straps and above(take a higher strap and nerdify it, cause the memory starts to give errors at 1625 stock) so i can overclock the memory to lets say 1750 mhz? because with claymore, even at 1040mhz, memory overclock gives a noticeable boost.

thanks in advance for any help.

I'm modding a bios for someone(RX580 8GB Hynix) i noticed the bios doesnt have any mem straps above 1500?? why is this and how can I mod it?
Possible gigabyte or msi GPU. Just use older bios revisions or replace by hand. Done that with latest gigabyte shitty revisions, replaced entire VRAM_Info table. I'll give you another hint about gigabytes g1 gaming bios rev. F80,F90 -> they are not with IR compat VRM like written in VOI table.

Everyone got used to modify straps and complain about stability...its not only timings that matter. Use your brain and HxD Smiley

I haven't looked at cryptonight in a while, but you've piqued my curiosity.  Given your reference to HxD, you're suggesting something in the BIOS file other than straps can improve performance/stability, correct?

XFX RX 470 4GB Elpida with eliovp's strap that's around the forum for long time with equal TRCDR/A fix, I make around 850h/s with claymore xmr 10.2 , and about 920h/s with gateless gate at 1170core/2000mem/875mv , at about 2-3-4 errors per hour. With claymore xmr 10.2 hashrate is stable with rare low fluctuations to 800-820 , with gateless gate 0.1.3-pre6b fluctuations are a bit more , but averages at about 920-925 , new gateless gate sharp gives me almost the same results , old gateless gate is based on sgminer , so hashrate is about the same as sgminer, for me a little bit more than sgminer-5.5.5-gm-nicehash-8.

edit: With the same strap, same 1170/2000/875 on ETH make 29.5mhs , eth and xmr are stable with these settings , memory can go up to 2050 before significant error rate , but stability goes down with it. Claymore xmr 10.2 settings -h 928 , gateless gate settings 896/8/2 , claymore eth 10.2 -dcri 8

Okay, Elpida is, hands down for me, the worst memory there is. Doing a STABLE and FAST memory strap for XMR is harder than getting a girlfriend for a virgin nerd sucker.

Even the free strap, which was found here (with little changes to RP/TRFC and TRCDR), it still crashes, while giving measly 840h/s.

840 is huge for elpida Cheesy

It's not just the memory type, it's the cryptonight algorithm itself.
I've been doing a lot of bios mods on different memory types, and while Cryptonight uses a lot less power than ethash, its a pain in the a** to get is fast and stable.
