South Africa is not looking good. New Zealand bowlers are too tight for them to move. I had two bets,
score over 96.5 in 20 overs and score over 118.5 runs in 25 overs.

Seems like I am going to lose both bets :-(

Also, in the pool I may get no point today.

You lost the 20 overs bet and it doesn't look they will make more 25 runs in 1 ball :-P

But still they can have a chance if they manage to make 300+ runs unless it rains and the overs get reduced.

Due to rain, 1 over has been deducted. Africa has started a slow one as like previous. I don't think they will have a bigger score. Probably not more than 270. De Cock has gone already.

I can see you bet on SA having a comfortable win. It's too risky but glad to see you supporting and 2 others supporting a weak side. After Ban's win, anything is possible in this WC and in cricket itself. But still if SA wins, it may be due to bad bowling or fielding of NZ and it won't be comfortable IMO.

I am waiting for the toss and depending on the outcome and the very latest news I may change my pick. This is why I do not lock my pick.

Like yesterday, Initially I was considering England to have a comfortable win but after toss when they decided to bat first then I knew that they are going for a big score so I gone with trashing win and it was correct which gave me 2 points :-)

I think AFG played very well and made to make 247 against one of the best team in the world cup. Lets not forget that Afghanistan is not a strong team and we do not expect them to make 100s and win the match. They batted really well to their capacity.

You can't really appreciate a team after losing by 150 runs. The England bowlers were very relaxed, as their batsmen had amassed close to 400 runs on the board. There was nothing positive for Afghanistan to take out from this match. Their horrible form continues, after a similar pathetic performance against the South Africans.

BTW, today we have New Zealand vs South Africa. This is the ideal opportunity for New Zealand to cement a place in the playoffs, as well as to get themselves among the top 3 sides. The pitch at Birmingham has offered good support for the pacers in the past, and this should make Boult, Ferguson and Henry very happy.

Afghanistan is not a big team in the cricket world so you should not expect anything extra ordinary from them. Scroing around 250 againist the best team is still a good effort by them.

Today's match between New Zealand and South Africa is delayed only because of wet outfield. It is shame that they cannot even cover the whole outfield  Undecided

No worries we are going to see a 49 overs (both side) match.

This is a do or die match for South Africa. The current New Zealand team is high in confidence, they have good record against South Africa too. I am not sure how much this South Africa team can do against them however I am having this feeling that South Africa may win this match.

Feel bad for NZ as if this match gets abandoned, it would be their second N/R game. Even if they play the game, still there are chances that the number of overs would be reduced. This entire WC is boring due to rains. Still hope NZ manages to play atleast 30-35 overs and their winning is almost guaranteed as SA is already out of the game with so many losses.

I disagree. I appreciate Afghanistan for posting a score close to 250 against a team like England proving that their batting has improved over time though their bowling has gone into the gutter currently.

I agree. They would easily qualify if they win this one though it won't be easy since South Africa seemed to have recovered some confidence after their recent win. However, I hope there is no rain threat.

Losing a match is not a good thing but this can be helpful for the future matches and will be helpful to face any team without fear because they are not getting much opportunity to play with world class team other than world cup.

As for today's match I guess NZ will be better edge due to their good form.

That's why I placed a bet for Archer to be the top bowler LOL

I will wish (unrealistic) no one pick wickets but Archer :-P

Anyway joke aside, although Naib is hitting the balls but I do not think for team like Afghanistan, this match has anything left except playing for honer.

The AFG team is just playing because they are getting paid, not even for honor. I feel bad for them as I can just imagine how would they feel to chase down 397 runs and nobody to even manage to hit 100 runs.

Maybe some countries do not give much respect/chance to players and they play for other countries just because they get more money. But there is patriotism and love for country which should be above money and these benefits.

Ultimately for the vast majority of the individuals, money matters more than anything else. Here in India, every year tens of thousands of people give up their Indian citizenship and become the citizens of other nations (such as US, Canada.etc). Normally no one accuses them of not being loyal to their homeland. Everyone understands that they are doing what is the best thing for their career. But even then, an Indian cricket player choosing to represent another country will be outright unacceptable.

This maybe true for other professions but playing for a county is a pride and the respect and fame which you get by playing for your own country cannot be expressed. Taking your example, if Virat Kohli played for Australia, he might get more money but he would never get the love, which he gets from the Indian public.
He may earn more from AUstralian board but it's hard to get Deals from companies In Australia so overall his earning will be not more than what he is earning in India.

Big 3 price rate more or less same.  Don't remember  exact numbers right now but BCCI pay more to their players. Indian cricketer earns shit load amount of money from sponsors and cricket board.

If I remember correctly then couple of years back virat received around $15-$17 million deal from puma, only 3 athletes got this kind of deal from puma. Usian bolt is one of them.

And if talking about ipl contract then virat kohli can buy one BBL's franchise with his one year contract, on record paycheck is close to 3 million and add million or so with offline payments. In bbl top players earn maximum $250k.

England Top Bowler
Archer, Jofra @ 3.35

High risk :-P
The stake was only 0.001BTC, shame on me :-D

Anyway, as expected, England had this trashing win. Seems like I am leading the pool :-D

It was amazing to watch Morgan rain down sixes. Very happy with his performance, but still there are a few things that bother me. First of all, another one-sided match destroys the purpose of limiting this world cup to just 10 teams. What the ICC are going to do now? Limit the number of teams to 6? Another thing is that although I am happy with England's performance so far, there is no denying that a large part of it can be attributed to stolen talent.

I think this format of ICC may not be fair for the last four qualifying teams. Instead of semi finals, there should be matches between top 4 teams which will lead them to top 2 and then we should have a best of three final.
In the current format, the team who will be at No. 4 , may play a good game on a single day and beat the group no. 1 team in semi final which is not correct.

Eoin Morgan was born and brought up in Ireand and he played ODIs for Ireland before switching to England. And till now, he doesn't possess a British passport. Same with Jofra Archer as well. It is very hard for teams such as Ireland to lose their best players. How the Indians would feel, if Virat Kohli decides to play for Australia from tomorrow onward? Or how the Bangladeshis will feel if Shakib decides to represent South Africa?

Maybe some countries do not give much respect/chance to players and they play for other countries just because they get more money. But there is patriotism and love for country which should be above money and these benefits.
