Maybe you should use this opportunity and build upon it. I'd be down for running a non profit through this site that helps out animal rescues all over the world, drumming up donations in BTC.

Think about it, maybe we can get your vet to be the first to sign up, we can get them linked with bitpay, and maybe they can even open up a "free check up day" for those who cant afford the vet due to the btc we get donated, just rambling but I think its worth discussing.
Bob, weird that you brought that up because when i was explaining what you guys were doing for Richy and that you were complete strangers...The lady at the vets office said that was Amazing! and she mentioned that she had another patient with a torn ACu or something and they were having a hard time paying for it.    I would ABSOLUTELY love to be a part of that idea Bob and i will talk to the vets office and see if they wil let me use their name as a reference to the purpose/cause.   But woulndt we have to register with the government or something for non profit status?

That would be something i'd also like to take part in, and dont mind handling the paper work. I have a CPA who currently handles all my business stuff and i'm sure having her do this to wouldn't be an issue at all.

Want to start building a site ? I know you have experience.

I think there are a bunch of ways to do this, firstly though, I think we may need to take the vet out of the equation. Lets be honest here, the vet is in it for the money, so they'll keep finding patients for us.

I think we may need to go the route of making a site where people can post about their financial situation and their pet, from there we can decide whos in need more, and then we can arrange to get their vet paid just like we did with you.

Someone would need to register a non profit if we were to do this on the up and up, for the beginning... we can go without the actual non profit, but once it grows, and I think it would then we would have to take the steps needed to be able to help more people and in a faster turnaround.

Which would include the non profit, the bank accounts, an accountant, employees, website builders, rescue agency's ect... the first step is a site where people can post about their hardship regarding the beloved pet in question. (we can use this one to start)

We would need to get on reddit, and an other social network that may help drum up donations, we also would need an escrow agent on here, Maidak, you can do this I believe.

What's our thoughts?

EDIT: I also think we should find a writer, its clear as day to me that otrkid70 and myself are nto the writing type..

All paid estimated came out to be $1650.00 total bitcoins sent was 1.85 BTC between everyone and this was sold just now on coinbase.com

Subtotal   $1,462.48
Coinbase fee   $-14.62
Bank fee   $-0.15
Total Credit

$1,447.71

Keep the donations coming ! address is posted
so is that to the vet or did you convert is to USD ?

I paid $1650 via my CC the total BTC amount that was donated equaled out to $1447.71 after coinbase fees so if anyone would like to continue to donate please use the address provided 1XkuPpPXaM5a3EQS36BEQ6xHc4kDMXSyJ if any funds are left over after the $1650.00 I'll go ahead and donate that to a non profit animal rescue organization of your guys choice.

Do I understand this correctly, you spent 200$ of your own money to cover this?

Thats correct, I couldn't exactly let tell the lady only $1447.71 was donated so I covered costs and hopefully we'll see the rest of it come in.

Sent you a PM, lets see how this goes!

I just sent 1.1btc to the address provided, https://blockchain.info/address/1XkuPpPXaM5a3EQS36BEQ6xHc4kDMXSyJ

I'll contact maidak now to get the payment made.
TY bob and pls let me say if there is anything and i mean anything that any of the donors need from me to make them feel secure before payment plz let me know. I will be willing to submit anything needed!

Na bro, I think were good, I called the vet, all the numbers check out, and this is as legit as they come in my eyes, all you gotta do now is get richy in there and start the road to recovery.

I have contacted maidak and as soon as he pays we'll let you know and you can call to book the surgery.

Actually, what would be nice is if you can post updates and maybe photos of richy during is recovery and even after, I feel like hes part of my family now. Smiley

Good Luck Shane!

Still waiting on the vets call for the estimate. I called over an hour to see whats going on and the Dr. has not had a chance to review the Estimate to ensure it's accurate for price and details.   Sitting here twiddling my thumbs .

I know how it is, Ive been there many times before.... grab a beer, smoke a joint, go for a walk, drive fast, just something to keep the nerves and anxiousness away.
