Just my experience.. I have 5 HD5830's and all run happy at 900/300 except for one.. will not run with out crashing unless mem is above 610mhz. Just my 2 BTC.

12.1 and up install the runtime, you should never install the SDK on top of Catalyst anymore.

What arguments did you give DM?

Funny you should say that, because I just finished doing a complete uninstall and reinstall of 12.2 and it seems to be working now.
However, now I'm having a problem with the machine locking up while mining.
I suspect my power supply is sketchy, and could be the issue.
Thanks for the quick replies!

Either PSU sucks, wall power sucks, you're overclocking and/or undervolting too far, or GPU temp is over 85c (or less if the card is a shitty brand).

I'm leaning towards the PSU being the culprit.
Wall power is clean, only overclocking to 950core/333mem, no voltage adjustments, GPU temp hasn't gone over 70c that I've seen so far.

Try no overclocks and see if it still locks up. If it doesn't, then you overclocked too far.

Hi guys, need a little help here.

I just got my second mining rig up and (kinda) running, but I'm having some troubles.

When I try to run Diablo, I get the following messages:
"Using AMD parallel processing OpenCL 1.1 AMD-App (851.4)
error: OpenCL platform AMD parallel processing OpenCL contains no devices
error: No OpenCL devices found
Diablominer: An error occurred while starting the application.

I'm running 12.3 catalyst on XP Pro SP3, and everything looks fine on the desktop side.
It seems like there's no SDK installed, but I tried installing it manually and there's no difference.
Thoughts?

Which Radeon?

Oops!
5830, sorry forgot to put that in. Smiley

12.3 is now out on Linux.

Seems to be half an mhash faster if at all, hard to tell. Low 675 to high 675 instead of high 674 to low 675.

What kind of settings are people using for 7970? I'm running my gpu 925MHz/366MHz for testing purposes.

Latest DiabloMiner "-v 1 -w 256" mining at ~550MH/s
Phoenix 1.7.5 "-k poclbm WORKSIZE=64 VECTORS3 AGGRESSION=14" mining at 552MH/s

I'm using the 8.95.5 driver set.

My 7970s at 1050 Mhz are doing 1244 together atm.

7970s won't let you underclock memory more than 150mhz below the core speed. Double check and make sure its actually ay 710, its probably not. Other than that, you should be getting about 630 mhash @ 1050mhz. Make sure you're using -v 1 -w 256 without -na, and that you're using 12.2 with 12.2's OpenCL runtime (its newer than what SDK 2.6 ships, do not install 2.6 on top of 12.2).

How do you check the real mem speeds, something like GPU-Z accurate?

I'm using those exact settings and driver/runtime.  If my memory really is underclocked to 710 that would explain the ~8mhash difference, right?  If that isn't it, I'll have to check my diablominer version, I thought I had the latest but maybe I missed an update.

I checked in GPU-Z and can confirm I really am getting mem down to 710.  Also, putting mem back up to 1425mhz and I see the mhash go up slightly to 629, possible 630 if I gave it longer to stabilize.  I don't think the 8 mhash difference is worth the extra heat of running full speed mem, though.

As far as clocking higher, I've had it up to 1212mhz which gave 720mhash, but with the stock cooler and my current insufficient case cooling, temperature rose above 80C before the driver crashed.  At 1188 I get 703mhash and this seems stable, but again temperatures get into the scary high range after awhile.  I like to keep at or barely above 60C (without running the fan at 70% +), and with those limitations around 1050mhz is my limit.

I've been using MSI Afterburner 2.2.0 beta 14 with the "UnofficialOverclockingMode   = 2" added to cfg, I guess I should have mentioned that.

12.3 whql drivers just released.  8.951 display driver.  Doesn't seem to be any change in mhash for the 6970 rig I am testing now, compared to 12.2.

555 mhash is the estimate for 7970 at 925mhz at the recommended settings of -v 1 -w 256. So you're about right.

Driver Packaging Version   8.921-111202a-129903E-ATI

Downloaded from AMD site: 12-1_vista_win7_64_dd_ccc
Not only more stable, but I get higher MH rates.  Same settings.

Oh, that one. I can't run that. Since i've installed a newer one, it won't let me go back for some reason.
I've even tried driversweeper, ATIMON, and other 'deep' uninstallers. Nothing seems to work.
12.2 is the oldest release that I can run, and even that one won't work right for me.
It may have something to do with the fact that I have an nvidia card on the same machine?
Anyway, it's working for now, and I'm hashing at 712 Mh/s, so I'm nnot gonna screw with it. Smiley

Does voltage control work in b15?
I'm on b14 and it doesn't work on my 7970.
Unwinder (author of AB) said he's not focusing AMD chips for now, he's moving on to Kepler...
BTW, 921 driver is way more stable for OC of 7970s.

What's 921 driver?
I'm running the 8.96 driver from 2/28/12.

AB, beta 15 in OC mode 2 lets you to set memory all the way down to 685.
GPU-Z displays that on the sensors page, cgminer runs with it.

You can't underclock mem less than -150 unless you use unofficial overclocking or some other trick.
Mine is running at 710, same as chiro.

Not sure, GPU-Z should displaying actual instead of set, but I don't use Windows. On Linux, aticonfig --odgc does show the difference (Current clocks shows actual, current peak shows requested).

Memory speed doesn't seem to matter with hashrate on GCN, it just drives the temp up. For me, 1125/1375 -> 1125/975 drops the temp 3-4c.
