Also, since I caught up on forums, two topics I wanted to address.
Miners getting the middle finger- Eh, for a tiny period of the expected lifetime of the coin, more coins were given away then were mined. That difference is fading rather fast, and in addition, early adopter miners got a nice bonus mining period. Thats not really getting the finger.
Giveaways/premine = pump and dump.
Lets look at this logically, Bitcoin was a tiny and closeknit thing that not everyone who would have been part of the community would have known about, off the bat. Thus, since a tiny sliver knew about it early on, and difficulty changes were nothing like they were now, its basically the greatest premine ever! ZOMG! BITCOIN IS PUMP AND DUMP!
No, its a long term investment, for those that want to make it. The path is easier now because some coins made the transition. For those of you who are "ZOMG, Dumping the SECOND it hits an exchange" good for you, you don't want to make the investment in time and would rather pick up a few bucks. Good move.
I sold some of mine, I won't lie. I needed a couple bucks worth of btc. Trying to use it to make a little more, and then by the time it does hit an exchange, I'm hoping the dumping hordes goes out in full force, so I can buy back what I sold and then some more. I like the dev team here and what they are trying to do. It hasn't been perfect, but, compared to alot of the other altcoin releases out there, its been damn good. But feel free to dump when it hits exchange, I will be waiting for you to crash the price. =)
However, does it serve any purpose to continously go "ZOMG PREMINE- PUMP AND DUMP" every other page of the forums? Just make your couple bucks when it happens. Others will settle in for the long haul, and in a few years, we will know what the right choice was. =)
There is also the opportunity to sell out and buy back in once the price drops and stabilizes before the next rise
