DigiByte is #8 on the BitCoinTalk all time most active list for Announcements (Altcoins).

That's way cool.

Happy 1000 again!

Also, by my calculations, when adding together the network hashrates for the 5 algorithms (and, of course, adjusting them to the same scrypt or SHA-256 equilvalents), DigiByte has the 6th highest total network hashrate! (And even if I'm off by a little, DGB is certainly in the top 10!)

If that, coupled with the active community here on this board, is any indication of what is "decentralized and widely distributed", then, by those two measures, DigiByte must definitely be doing all the right things!

What are the other top 5?

BTC, UNO, BCX, DOGE, LTC, in that order. It depends on when you look, and you'd have to do a more thorough study with averages to really be precise. Of those that also compete for the top 10 and that are also listed on Cryptsy figure MZC, ZET, SYS and VIA. In terms of trading volumen, DGB is in the top 5 of that group ( http://coinmarketcap.com/ ).

Superised there is no Dash (old dark coin), the difficulty is 4700.

That's an oversight on my part. DASH is in the top 10, ahead of DGB - as probably are SYS and VIA too - after having gone back and looked at the realtime data a couple of times today, it looks more like DGB might be in 9th or so place . . . still Top Ten material though!

Speaking of the wallet... I have been fiddling with it a few days and I cannot find the generate new address button... I'm pretty sure it used to be... I don't remember. Maybe I'm just dumb those days. Can someone give me a pointer?

Just click file:

Some thoughts on the wallet

Hi i have some suggestions for the digibyte wallet to aide in user adoption and friendly up the mining / backup issues people regularly have.

NOTE : I do programming on the side but i'm not familiar with QR codes / storage max on them nor encryption techniques applied and how it could work. This is more an idea that hit me and i thought Jared could take a look incase it interests him.

First the Pictures

My ideas
- First on the main page separate out the balance... the number is stupid long and hard to read.... Spread it like 110 , 322 , 660.12345678 ==> This helps people see what they have

- I added 2 sections.. 1 is Digi-Guard (name just for show) and the other is Digi-Mining (name change to be more friendly).
==> Bundle the miner or an easy compact cpu friendly miner with the wallet... make it light-weight and friendly... you could have sliders to have it launch base on cpu/gpu allowance for the user so they can continue to work and have the miner run. You can market this to users as the wallet with a built in money earner... This adds more network hashing / security if linked to the digihash.co it supports devs with the percentage... and your average user gets to generate digibytes without needing to hunt for tips...

- Digi-guard... it guards your coins... backs them up. Now QR codes could be insecure for storing your data due to people copying them etc. However people find it easy to store pictures on usb keys etc. Combine the QR code ability with a password to scramble the file that the QR code will display. Put this in the mobile wallets etc which allows the backup to save to the image folder on android or iphone. If you were super paranoid about the images you could add functionality from a blank wallet to import the qr then have to rake the funds to a new key rendering the old qr code backup empty.

I just think that users losing their funds or having to manually backup tedious specific files in directory paths necessitates more user friendliness. We don't need guides for users to save files etc... we need to make that functionality plain as day in the wallet with minimal clicks. It should ask them where the backup goes and it should be a format they are familiar with to save and store. Just my 2 Digibytes.

"Check out the new DigiByte promo video."

If you're not sure how to do it, just cut and paste this into your signature line - and change anything you want to change that's between the quotation marks (even the quotation marks).

Code:
[url=https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rmDyhKOjNKM][b]"Check out the new DigiByte promo video."[/b][/url]

It's as easy as that.  Cool
