Alrighty,

You no longer have to force CORS using Fiddler or browser extension, it just works!

I am working on a PK search feature too.

If you have any suggestions let me know!

Thanks,
Jude

I don't know why, but I am only able to see the balances of half the address' per page only.
Screenshots :

That happens to me every so often, does it eventually show both after a refresh?

What's happening is the second half is being rate limited by blockchain.info.

I am currently working on a new version that doesn't use blockchain.info.

Thanks,
Jude

Isn't that screenshot is showing up the private keys related to an address. I m wondering why that is not security issue ? Or is it just the demonstration of something that I don't understand. What's this all about. Please help me understand. Thanks.

I have seen a lot of threads regarding directory.io and I know one should spend more than his lifetime to search for all addresses and to check if there is any balance in there.
Are private keys of hardware wallets addresses on that page or only software ones ?
Does your hardware wallet use an address (or addresses) beginning with a 1? If so, it will be on directory.io somewhere.

It doesn't matter what device the address is generated on, as directory.io just generates every possible non-P2SH (3 prefix) address and throws it out there.

Correct. directory.io publishes only bitcoin address that starts with "1". To give you a brief history, when directory.io started to list every bitcoin private key alongside its corresponding public address. this cause panic which some even speculate that it will cause the downfall of bitcoin, as a result it has somewhat affected the price negatively. However, I think this just proves how bitcoin protocol strength. It will take you years if you want to search directory.io and look for a matching private keys.

On a legit note, I was bored as shit sitting in this hotel room as I travel for work.

I found an address with exactly the miner fee by randomly searching http://btckey.space. I instantly ran down to the "news station" (What the UK calls a convenience store) and bought two scratch off lottery tickets, I didn't win, haha.

But I did stumble on an address with a balance...out of all these years....

- snip -
looks like it found a couple of BTC...
- snip -

Absolute nonsense.

That private key has been publicly known since 2014.  Someone just did the math to figure out what page that private key would be on and then linked to it.

https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/arg-puzzle-with-35-btc-private-key-prize-game-over-661781

It was all part of a scam. There was a dude selling these private keys with the promise of finding some BTC. He would seed the address with some btc and then sell the private keys to some containing btc to perpetuate the scam.

I saw the scam site at one time but can't find it now.

Message to everyone whe is willing for real to search for dust in this huge list.
It is more profitable for you to surf some faucets which gives some pennies than searching for bitcoin in these addresses

Right, it just a time waste for finding the bitcoin address from the hugh list of unwanted addresses  Cheesy. I wonder why would anyone be so lame and lazy to fall for this trap.

I have added a little more functionality to this to help the lurkers find the right address. I have added "Reload to open Random Page".
You can visit here : http://yoyobtcrotator.cf/directory.io/

The OP link indicates 904625697166532776746648320380374280100293470930272690489102837043110636675 private keys, not addresses. The link doesn't say anything about the number of addresses

No that is the number of pages... each page have 128 pair WIF privkey / addresses..

Quote
there are only about 1.46 X 1048 possible addresses

So all addresss in that directory aren't available?

Is there more privkey as addresse?

what if I put some BTC in a out of range "1461501637330902918203684832716283019655932542976"

for exemple I use the last page ?

This is a joke. I am not encouraging that anyone steals with this resource. Heck, it's just for fun! A classic joke, just as directory.io was when it was created Wink

Imagine 0.5 billion people generating one address after every transaction, at every second.

I already demonstrated that if 7 BILLION people generate 1 BILLION addresses every second, we won't run out of addresses even if we started generating those addresses at the beginning of time and then repeated that process 1 BILLION times.

Now you want to know about only 0.5 billion people and only 1 address per second? You seem to have difficulty understanding that 7 billion is a bigger number than 0.5 billion, and that 1 billion is a bigger number than 1, and that 14 billion is a bigger number than 100.

Then what will the final figure stand out to be after 100 years of this practice? Tongue

Fine.  The math is simple enough.  Lets give it a go...

100 years is approximately 31.5 million seconds.

If half a billion people do that, then you're looking at 31.5 million X 0.5 billion = 1.58 X 1016

After 100 years, that's only 15750000000000000 addresses.

Forget about 100 years.  Your 0.5 billion people could generate 1 address every second for the next trillion years, and we still wouldn't run out of addresses.

Thanks a lot! You really are a genius. Smiley BTW, what about the case for generating vanity addresses? Are they limited too?

So, I think by the time all the addresses are made (and you and I have been dead for trillions and trillions of years), we can just invent a new system, don't you think?

Definitely true, since different alt-coins including some scam coins are are launched daily. Grin
