If I recall correctly, Foxup won the female category some time ago; how do you nominate someone whose gender is unknown to 95% of the voters? After antihero, this is the most useless category.
At least for Foxpup it's known (because profile information is important to look up  Wink) and that's once again a reason to set up all details in your Account.  Cheesy

Maybe we will get a few more gender categories for next year, like cats (Bitcointalk cat) or similar.  Wink

At least you guys have something in common. When did I ever have myself included into crafting? Am I posting to the wrong boards, and I haven't figured it out yet?
  • Craft Master: BlackHatCoiner
  • Craft Master: BlackHatCoiner
I've been nominated at least 2 times as Craft Master as well, while I don't know why exactly but maybe, this category is considered as "wildcard".  Cheesy
Maybe we can also introduce a "wildcard" category next time.  Smiley

You must have 50 earned merits to vote

why is it called the community awards when some set of people are not allowed to vote?

I feel the same too because it is discrimination and irrelevant. You want to tell us that only those who have gotten that 50 merits are the real members or most intelligent ones of this forum? To say the truth, nobody should be treated that way because of merit load.
It's not about discrimination, it's about preventing abuse due to Alt Accounts (preventing multiple votes from 1 person). Such abuse is happening frequently here on Bitcointalk, like Signature campaigns, other giveaways or on DT.
Therefore, adding a (relatively low) Merit requirement is our best solution to enable broad participation while still getting rid of (most) abusers.

I'd agree with the meaning diminishing, but I'm not sure how to correct that problem. Ultimately, it's up to the community to decide who they vote for. Changing the voting system just complicates it further, and preventing past winners will just mean the same 2-5 users will be nominated in the retrospective categories. I don't think it's fixable to a certain degree, and it's unfortunate as I do like the initiate of the community awards.

In the end, is the rule whether editing voting posts are allowed?
You can edit your voting post if you wish, up until the thread is locked for counting votes.

At least you guys have something in common. When did I ever have myself included into crafting?
Most users are voting for well known users, without actually giving much thought into what category.

I forgot to bold my vote (I guess it can be easier for counting) and maybe I would add/change some of my nominations.

Miss Bitcointalk: LoyceV

Huh

maybe I would add "Discovery of the Year" knowing that yahoo62278 and LoyceV are females.  Cheesy

I would not have known about the 2022 Community Awards if it hadn't been for the notification I received earlier today from someone who voted for me in a category. I'm sure many people will miss out if it isn't pin on the home page of the forum like it was last year.
All I can do is mention all users who qualify for voting (50 or more earned Merits). If they use any notification service, they'll now know about [Voting 2022] Bitcointalk Community Awards!

Thank you for mentioning here because thanks to this I came to know about this voting. This is my first time voting for an Award while I've been here and of course I wouldn't miss this Grin

We might not know your gender, but we know that you have a wife. That definitely brings us closer to 1 in 8 billion.
As I said, you can choose to believe what you like. Wink

She isn't a female, or doesn't identify as one
Says who?

I've never said I was her husband, only that she was my wife. Her gender says nothing about mine.

Ironic, isn't it? She isn't a female, or doesn't identify as one (whatever the difference that is in 2022).

Why should we nominate females, again?  Tongue

how many of these users are active/alive? and why 50 merits benchmark

Every vote is a duplicate of the previous year's; the only categories that vary each year are "Fail of the Year," "Event of the Year," and "Antihero," the rest is just rinse, repeat, and rinse among the same people. Same voters, same outcomes. Its worth is dwindling.
What do you suggest?

Counting votes is actually a very laborious process, but we can make it a little more complicated. For example, take into account the power of the vote ... let's say your power of vote will be equal to 1 if you are DT1, if you are DT2 (0.5). If your trust list is empty, your vote strength is 0.2.

In addition, I can already say that next year the Miss Bitcointalk category will be abolished (there will be another category).

Giving DT more voting power results in automatic slots for the same set of DT members over and over. I'm not sure, but having the same group of members win the same awards every year isn't a good idea in my opinion. What if each local board nominates a category, and then a general pool is established? Does it appear to be a bad ideal?

I do very much like this witty unintentional pun.

Women - In to days world (at least USA and Europe) it is how you define yourself.

With the knowledge I have to day I should have defined myself as a women when I signed up. The community manager jobs I have you easier get selected if you are a "women".

Everyone likes to think Foxpup is female but I found him attracted to women LOL.
What if she is attracted to women? Wink

It surprised me too:
Craft Master: LoyceV

I think it's because of the rather broad description:
Craft Master
The award is presented to those who sincerely love their craft, whether it is a professional activity or a hobby.

We tend to think that this award is best suited to the most significant figure among collectors, managers, escrows, designer or users who are so passionate about sports and p2p that they motivate others to bets solely in BTC.

I see LoyceV, o_e_l_e_o, Rikafip, and even Theymos on the lists. Shocked Shocked Shocked
I wonder what these users who have made their choice want to say. A sign of recognition in this form?
I have to say that it was totally unexpected to get nominated in that category lol. Back in the early days there was a rule that everyone on the Internet is a male until proven otherwise (which I still follow when addressing other members) so looks like time has changed and members now like to think of others as females. Wishful thinking I guess, like in Lauda case. Cheesy

Bot stated many times about his wife and kids. So he is a husband. LEO is a man from the name. Theymos is masculine in his style, no doubt. I am totally unaware about Rikafip. Everyone likes to think Foxpup is female but I found him attracted to women LOL.
I've also spoken about my wife, but that says nothing about my gender. Nor does being attracted to women. And maybe Leo is short for Leona Wink (Or maybe it is a completely meaningless pseudonym with no bearing on my real identity.)

Not at all 😉

Everyone likes to think Foxpup is female but I found him attracted to women LOL. Lauda was a woman. The Pharmacist is a man. Suchmoon is an woman. Jet Cash is a man a senior citizen. JJG is a man, Mic is a man, Homer is a man, LFC_bitcoin is a man, Bob is a man, Dabs is a man, yahoo is obviously man and he got married not long ago. I can go on and on, it's been a long year with the community and watching all these peoples how they react and act. In one or two cases I might be wrong though, take it easy 🤣
