“Fillippone” “Filippone” or “fillipone”
They all look the same to me Cheesy

DarkStar popped up again in the votes too.

To me, sensible approach to voting should be a common sense by moderator.
Obvious spelling mistake should be handled automatically: “Fillippone” “Filippone” or “fillipone” have little doubt about voter intention.
“Lafu01” vs “Lafu” should be handled with a little bit more care, maybe tagging the original voter.

I agree with you, the problem is if there are two users with very similar names. A different character is enough to be another user.

But of course it all depends on the moderator doing the counting and your common sense.

Having the user ID and username can help minimize errors.

Could be cumbersome to do that, discouraging not really committed voters. Or maybe we want to discourage less motivated voters?

Following what we are talking about:

Looks like some people have nominated Lafu01, while I'm sure you wanted to nominate Lafu.
Most likely, there are some more nominations containing spelling mistakes...

If in doubt, please check BPIP by searching the name of your nominated members, if your spelling is correct to avoid any confusions.  Smiley

Voting via ID would also make counting votes extremely more difficult, I guess (I suspect it is done by hand).

I happen to think the opposite, mainly because the count should not be done by hand.

A number is always the same, so no matter who writes it, the result will always be the same.
Of course, the person can also make a mistake typing the number, but maybe more quickly users write someone's name from memory than their ID. Dai would have to copy-paste the ID for less failures.

But of course, it depends on how the information is collected.

I find this idea very interesting, the inclusion of the ID of the users who are voted for.
It is true that it will be more work for those who vote, but it will guarantee the votes for those who change their username.
I can guarantee more people will mess up if they have to jump through hoops. Some already write names incorrectly, but it's still obvious who they mean. If they add the wrong userID, it gets worse.
Username changes are rare, and there's no doubt who the vote was for.

Totally agree.
I was jokingly referring to that when mentioning that voting via ID would favour AI’s.

I am not saying for the change to take place now.
It would be next year, when voting, it would include the two elements: username and ID.
Considering how rare name changes are, is something like that really needed? At least for me it would be a pain in the ass to have to include ID on top of the username. I say keep it as it is, no need to make things more complicated.

Considering how many years he waited for the fulfillment of his desire, I do not think that this idea will be relevant. On the other hand, I know another user who managed to change his nickname twice, to whom the admin was favorable. What dances with a tambourine other users should take to convince the admin to change their nickname can only be guessed at. Therefore, changing nicknames to numbers, I think, would be just extra work for the one who will calculate the results.

It might even be easier to collect votes with that information.

As some users changed their nickname, how this is going to impact on voting?
Are the votes for “The pharmacist” lost forever? Are you going to manually adjust for them?

Maybe we should include this ID numbers in next season on Bitcointalk Community Awards voting.

Big mistake or bad timing for making this change, especially if they win something Cheesy
Seriously now, they are obviously the same members everyone voted for and they still have the same ID number tied with their username, for example Pharmacyst aka The Sceptical Chymist has ID number 487418.
Maybe we should include this ID numbers in next season on Bitcointalk Community Awards voting.

The illustrator told me that the banner for the next drawing is already ready!

Yay!

Stay tuned as Betnomi will be making an announcement soon.  Wink

Eagerly waiting...  Roll Eyes

I also take this opportunity to announce that I translated voting topic in Romanian and also the discussion topic Smiley

Here they are:

[Voting 2022] Bitcointalk Community Awards 🏆 <=> [Votare 2022] Premiile Comunității Bitcointalk 🏆
[Discussion] Bitcointalk Community Awards 🏆 <=> [Discuții] Premiile Comunității Bitcointalk 🏆

It's been a nice challenge to translate the topics and I am encouraging all to make these translations in other foreign languages as well Smiley

Are you going to manually adjust for them?
That would make sense, otherwise we'll have to vote on userIDs next year if the correct bribe is being paid.

Gazeta is waiting for proper bribing from The Pharmacist, for counting his earlier votes too  Roll Eyes

(Gazeta accepts bribes in wine (in plastic bottles, of course; for more details, please ask fillippone, as he is my right hand when it comes to wine in plastic bottles), wives and young veals. Also, due to the fact that we are part of same gang, I will also accept any other chemical solution The Pharmacist may bring Smiley)

This would be even easier for all the AI’s posting on the forum lately.
I guess we should keep the bar high for them.

Nice idea for the “fail of the year” nomination. I will keep an eye on that!

I was clear after reading GazetaBitcoin's post but after reading yours, I am confused now LOL
It was supposed to be 36 prizes. 12 * 3. How will you determine 30 out of 36?
That means categories like event of the year, fail of the year and some more which are not really about forum users, are not going to receive prize? Well how will they 😉
For obvious reasons, the awards do not apply to such categories as "Fail of the Year" and "Event of the Year".  Tongue

In every category in which a physical winner is possible [...]

[...] (especially since this year we will have 30 prizes!). 🏆

Actually, it should be a bit more clear Smiley (Highlight is mine.)

Obviously, while writing my previous post (similar to you too, lol), I did not take into account the fact that, if FTX Drama will win at Fail of the Year section, nobody will know at their door to handle them 12mBTC, right? Smiley Same happens for all cases where technically it is impossible to physically offer a prize. I'm talking about nominations like "Luna crash", "CSW", "Bitcoin Pizza Day", "Ethereum merge", "World Cup Qatar" etc.

Other than that,

In addition, I also did not ambiguously indicate exactly how many winners there will be.

it seems that we will all have a surprise at the end Smiley
