Bitcoin itself is two things: it’s a digital currency known bitcoin (lowercase, also referred to as BTC) and Bitcoin is a technology (also known more generally as blockchain). Both are called the same thing which admittedly can be confusing for newbies. Bitcoin = The name of the Bitcoin network bitcoin = The currency (or BTC). With Ethereum it’s similar, but slightly different: the token is called ether (or ETH) and the network is Ethereum. Ethereum = The Ethereum network, ether = The token (of ETH). Cry

I don't really see them as competing with eachother, they're both different. Would be good if the ETH trading pairs got more volume though.

Bitcoin is a currency used for purchasing goods and services, as well as storing value (much like how we currently use gold), it is a new currency created to compete against the gold standard and fiat currencies. But Ethereum is a token used for making Apps (decentralized apps) on the Ethereum blockchain, it's a token capable of facilitating Smart Contracts (For example: a lawyer’s contract, an  exchange of ownership of property, and voting). Bitcoin is really far more recognizable in the world. Ethereum is less known and younger. Ethereum uses “move fast and break things” motto, it learned from Bitcoin and fixed a couple of issues in it’s design and the community is smaller and therefore has more developers than speculators.

It depends on how do you compare them and what do you want to use them for. Ethereum is better than Bitcoin and Bitcoin is better than Ethereum at the same time. They’re not competitors. They coexist and solve different types of problems. Roll Eyes

Ethereum is like Bitcoin's little brother, Ethereum is an advancement based on the principle of blockchain that supports bitcoin but with a purpose that does not compete with Bitcoin. However, the popularity and rising market capitalization of Ether brings it in competition with all cryptocurrencies, especially from the trading perspective. Currently, the market cap of Ether (ETH) is more than Ripple and Litecoin, although it’s far behind Bitcoin (BTC). Cheesy

Bitcoin and Ethereum differ in purpose. While Bitcoin is created as an alternative to regular money and is thus a medium of payment transaction and store of value, Ethereum is developed as a platform which facilitates peer-to-peer contracts and applications via its own currency vehicle. While Bitcoin and Ether are both digital currencies, the primary purpose of Ether is not to establish itself as a payment alternative (unlike Bitcoin) but to facilitate and monetize the working of Ethereum to enable developers to build and run distributed applications. i think to beat bitcoin it will difficult. now altcoin is favored by many people but the price is still far below the bitcoin. bitcoin still remains a superior coin. we can not predict it and if it is true it will take a long time until the price of eth can beat the bitcoin.

it can beat bitcoin, bitcoin has market gone down, because buyers are buying less bitcoin, they are checking other bitcoins, which is good and highest price.
Yes, probably etherium can compete with bitcoin. More and more people are getting more interested with etherium. But anyway, as long as bitcoin is available, I know the people will choose bitcoin.

yes u r exactly true
ETH can't compitate with BTC and in feature also it will not come equal to BTC

first while typing a message check ur spelling(feature) Grin
which I know bitcoin and Ethereum are not competing with each other just these two coins are contradictory and with so many people who said that with rising prices the Ethereum BTC will go down and Bitcoin also the reverse then Ethereum is only the best coin after Ethereum

as if it is in the second place and nearer to the bitcoin then compare to other coins,
maybe in future it may beat bitcoin
I think so because what I know today many people say if the price of Bitcoin rising Ethereum prices will decrease and Ethereum is also so contradictory and from there I believe the possibility of the price of Ethereum and Bitcoin compete and contradict each other

Ethereum is considered by many including me as the defacto queen of the cryptocurrency market and the king among the altcoins which will not change anytime soon in my opinion. The Ethereum community and developers are the primary reasons why I feel that this coin has tremendous potential and will continue rising in popularity over time. The move to POS will also most likely help it become a lot more popular.

in my mind, Ethereum does not compete with Bitcoin. Bitcoin is the foundation of all coins and to defeat it, it will take years.
And also Bitcoin is a crypto king who certainly has power because of his great community, it will be difficult to change his position.

Currently, bitcoin prices are declining again, and many other users to get another Coin as an alternative. In addition, ETH I think the growth continues to increase, hopefully, the price soar.

I think this is completely possible, because ETH is gradually encroaching on the market of BTC.
In the past, people tended to pay with BTC, but now the number of people using ETH is more.

It depends on the category we are using to compare both of them; in useful and technology impac5to crypto sphere;  I would choose ethereum as the superior; but when it comes to market domination; that goes to bitcoin

I feel bitcoin and ethereum are not in a focused circumstance. Ethereum might be past bitcoin yet not in a brief timeframe and not as simple as envisioned. Everything should be handled and depends vigorously on the quantity of solicitations. Bitcoin is a crypto lord who unquestionably has control in light of his extraordinary network, it will be hard to move his position.

There is no denying that eth is constantly improving and numerous people and investors are actually using it and investing in it. However, to compare it with bitcoin, that is another story. Despite bitcoin’s drop, its value is still way too far from eth. Other than that, bitcoin technology is pretty much isfferent from wth thus, it cannot be its competitor. Though in popularity and usage, eth may be a bit aggressive but it is still way too far from
Bitcoin.

I race it won't be happening. Although the ethereum is also a nice altcoin but still very much if compared with bitcoin. bitcoin has a fairly good technology even many who adopt it. so to ethereum could rival the bitcoin is a difficult thing to get done.

In my opinion, all altcoins will compete with bitcoin in the future. Any altocoins may be made with the desire to achieve the same success, or even greater than bitcoin and take bitcoin places. But, I do not think that Ethereum will be a bitcoin competitor, although this coin is very good and can really harm the bitcoin.

all coins are trying to rise and develop like Bitcoin. with all the coin attempts to crucify Bitcoin continues to show such a vigorous effort. such as Ethereum that continues to show progress to compete with Bitcoin and get the first position available on Cryptocurrency.
