I also think that appearance means a lot when it comes to business and employment. From my own experience, I can say that the first impression plays a big role. When I have a business meeting, I usually wear official dresses. Actually, they make me feel more confident.

In the case of employment looking like the job you want to get employed for can give you an advantage. If you turn up for an official job looking like a rockstar, you have of course reduced your chances of getting the job if it was you want. If it was a job where the staffs dress freely because of it's unofficial nature, then appearance may not matter when you are being interviewed for a job. Dress and appear like the position you want.

Also, they said when in Rome, dress like the Romans or something like that.
While some organizations emphasize that one must be formally dressed for an interview, some other organization say tech do not have any hard or fast rule to it.
If I were a hiring manager, I would definitely consider dressing in my hiring decision if it is stated in the interview invite. It tells about the personality of the potential employee.

In a world we live in today, especially where everyone is an instagram addict, having a good look matters a lot.

Employers tend to hire good looking but less capable people instead of capable but shit looking.

That’s simply how the world works.

The appearance is the first thing to determine if one is qualified for the job or not. No company or business firm would employ someone that his/her appearance looks rough. Every organisation,  company are looking responsible workers that can help it to grow. Looking at one who is seeking for job and the appearance is not bad then it can considered that the person is responsible. Their are so many thoughts about a person that the appearance is not attractive.  Good appearance speaks more of good things.

I agree that performance at work is a primary concern, but I still want to emphasize that appearance is equally important. You can't compare with top talent like Steve Jobs and he's already a leader so he can wear whatever he wants but for us just employees or ordinary business people, it's completely different. Today, when life becomes modern, people pay great attention to the outside appearance, it can be said that it is the first measure for others to judge us.

I disagree highly with this and to think appearance being "equally" important? No way. I just believe that Steve Jobs wasn't wearing a suit and a tie when he wasn't leader neither, and according to movies we saw him, dude didn't even care about his personal hygiene and that’s at the bare bottom, okay maybe take a shower, that’s personally important too lol.

So, what I am trying to say is that, if a person is good, they are good, and what they wear or how they look will have absolutely 0% importance, and I do not mean even a slight bit, literally not even 1% matter, ZERO matter, it's unimportant. What they can do for the company is the key here, because if they do make you money, then you cannot fire a profitable worker for their looks, you possibly can but that would be idiotic.

Well, I believe the quality of your work is all that matters than wearing high class suits. However, if you are an employee of a big and popular company where wearing appropriate dress is highly required, then you have no choice but to comply with it. Otherwise, you’ll always be reprimanded because of not following the company’s rules.

We can't deny the fact that in all fields of life, people will always judge us based on our appearance. The way we dress up has a huge impact on how people will treat us or respect us especially in business and employment. If we'll dress properly, clients and customers will be able to address and trust us easily. If we'll dress unrespectfully, it will be hard for us to earn the respect and trust that we need at work. People will always base their level of respect toward us based on our physical appearance.
If we are going in offices or we know we are meeting some clients then it’s a protocol to make ourselves presentable. It will depend on what kind of job we have. At the end of the day we are not required to do it if we don’t want to if it’s not required in the office. But as a employee if there are certain dress code then better follow it  since there are rules in that office. I was able to go in office in my 1st job were corporate attire is required while in my previous job it’s not required as long as you finish your job well. It will depend on what work or business we are doing.
But definitely, it’s always better to dress properly whether it’s required or not because that will also help you gain respect from others seeing you’re in a presentable appearance. Although I have not experienced this because our company always require to wear our uniform, but in other companies that i come to see, it’s always a good impression to dressed well when you come to work and always wear with a smile too.

So, those first appearances, you have to impress the person you talk with. Like for trying to get a job, the interviewer. It's common to have a dress code and you need to be at good appearance to impress them. Although, there are interviewers that don't look at the dress code and appearance but more of the skills you have that's appropriate to the position.

But, most of them which is the reality are looking on its importance.

Although it might seem so, but appearances do matter in making a public opinion.

A well known businessman coming in a lambo while another one walking to their office because the left the car somewhere away in parking makes the people think the first one to be a bigger businessman than the second. You have to understand that public only looks at the snapshot image and not the big picture that is why they can be fooled easily. This is also the reason how scammers hide in good looks.

If you are running a business, how you present yourself and how you interact with others makes a lot of difference.
