It is not really the president of the country that you should be worried when it comes to the power to block bitcoin. But rather the financial establishment of each country, the central banks, the big banking groups, all of them can influence officers and then ban crypto if they want to. The president maybe knowledgeable to cryptocurrency but he also need to consult with the financial big shots of his country to see the pros and cons of Bitcoin and cryptocurrency in general. That is my opinion.

I'm actually indifferent about my government decision or regulation concerning cryptocurrency. As it stands now the government has not legalized cryptocurrency and its not a legal tender in my country. Even if the government choose to make it illegal, it won't add or subtract anything from the people trading or holding it. We only need to be more careful in our dealings at most.

This should be the biggest heartache for investors like me, declaring bitcoin illegal in our country would probably kill my job and my investment opportunity.
However, it's nice if we will prepare ourselves with this kind of possibility as the government can do any law if they think crypto is not beneficial for majority of people, well, I just hope this kind of situation will not come in the future, instead, I'm hoping crypto will grow even more.

What if, for example - like after that twitter hack - the President wakes up (in a bad mood) and decides with an executive order to make all crypto illegal in the USA?

Of course this probably will never happen in today's world, as the there is big money is invested into crypto currencies; but do you ever think that it is even remotely possible...

Or the next elected president is so "old school" and decides that crypto needs to go?

I don't mean only America, what about in your country; do think that a future ban on crypto currencies is ever possible in your country?
Its okay if they ban because I can still use it all over the world there is no border for cryptos, you can buy from other country if it is illegal in your country and also it is possible to buy things anonymously in the internet world. So old school people need to go to school again if they want to become a leader. I believe that governments have no power over Bitcoin and crypto, it's impossible to kill or ban crypto because most projects in crypto space are all decentralized, the only projects that governments can have power over are some centralized projects

I think it is very normal to issue a ban in individual countries, like China or some other countries. But their citizen still have many ways to trade and own crypto that they want , and when a whole host of countries in the world accept crypto, those countries can't be outside

I also hope that the president in my country will further understand technology, so that making crypto in my country can be fully legal, well even though I don't feel that at the moment there is a ban from my country, because crypto here is called an asset for investment so we don't completely banned but must obey every regulation, only speculation may be in the next year is the right time for crypto to be illegal in all countries
I don't think many countries will ban the existence of cryptocurrencies. The reason is that it isn't too harm to people. However, because of its decentralized characteristics, crypto world is a great place for criminals to transfer money worldwide but nobody can control. Therefore, it's the reason why a lot of nations don't make crypto fully legal yet. The governments don't like things that they can't control!

Maybe if there are no punishment yet, or maybe my government still not really strict about using crypto, i believe a lot of people will still use it. Maybe for exchange if there are no more legal site that can be open in my country, people still can do it p2p.

I think people who are worried that their politicians won't but their president might are living in dictatorship. Usually in a proper nation with democracy president wouldn't be able to do anything by himself, he would require a lot of power from all around the party and other parties to be able to actually make something like that work.

In civilized nations what should happen is the fact that presidents could whatever they want but take years before they can get what they want, but if a president just says crypto should be banned and the people work hard towards making bitcoin illegal and find ways and make laws and so forth to keep the president happy, that is not a president, that is a de facto king and he only makes elections to show that he is still the king and that's it.

I dont think we will yet have this as a problem. It's almost impossible to ban a decentralized asset being cryptocurrency. It's not ponzi scheme, its not scam, it's not illegal. There there is no room to be afraid when you are legally doing a legal thing
The fact is crypto is ban in other country although it is decentralize asset there's another country prohibit people from using it. Some people do still not know what crypto is all about that's why they are afraid to use bitcoin. We're glad our government is not prohibited from using crypto we have the freedom to use it daily.

Certainly, I will feel fear about this presidential decision, which will make Crypto illegal, because my investment in cryptocurrencies will be prohibited, so all my money and profits will be lost in the air, For me, it will be difficult and more like a nightmare. I think it is difficult to make this decision because it is in the president’s interests to stand with the interests of his people. Crypto is the technology of the future and has its advantages that help people. If it is illegal, this is nonsense.

It's the worst that could probably happen if you are a trader or holder because you will be restricted in what you can do and you will go underground so you can trade and invest in Cryptocurrency some country are even fine and charge holders of Cryptocurrency so the future is bleak for those whose countries are restricted.

A user dependent to cryptocurrency in terms of their income, it will affect the user when he can't cash out to fiat. It can stop the trading in one country if the head declares it ban and illegal.

Some of us couldstill trade probably to an exchange that doesn't restrict your country or probably on DEX like Bisq that allows TOR. But still cashing out would be difficult.

You can prohibit a lot, including cryptocurrency, but prohibitions cannot stop progress. If something like this will work successfully next to it, then perhaps with restrictions or with some amendments, but the crypto space will exist everywhere.

Crypto can't be ban and that's the fact, even when it was banned in India I have friends in that country and we still make trades and do other crypto things, crypto is hundred percent unstoppable

It is impossible to ban a decentralized asset such as cryptocurrency. But the government can harass the users by prohibiting the trade between cryptocurrency and fiat cash. They may not be able to harass all the cryptocurrency users, who may number in millions. At the most they may arrest a few people and use this to frighten the other users.

Compare rates on different exchanges & swap.
It's meaningless to make crypto illegal, just as it's meaningless to stop people from using stones for trading. So stopping people from using it will not work unless you really have a tyrannical/lawless system in place.

People can always exchange goods and services amongst themselves without a third party/centralized system and without breaking the Law.

Perhaps they will stop calling it crypto and still use decentralized/peer-to-peer method with native community-owned coin/token to pay for goods and services

They can't simply ban it, they should report proper reasons for banning anything even it is not only the decision of president. It will be researched by expert group for a while then the report will be submitted to higher officials as well as president then only they can ban it.So it is not going to happen over night.
