It is very difficult to get 1 BTC in 2022, because everyone is competing to get 1 BTC from year to year, if we talk about the past year for example in 2017, it might be very easy for everyone to get 1 BTC, just following a few prize campaigns , maybe many here have experienced it in 2017, because there are many projects that are really good for everyone to get 1 BTC, if you compare this year, is there currently any land or place for us to get at least a few mBTC, apart from working on campaigns signature or trade..
Indeed, it is now difficult to get 1 btc, but still, it is still doable. With each new cycle, it will become more difficult and you will remember the current time with nostalgia. On the other hand, bitcoin is now more affordable than last year when it cost ~$69k. This means that not everything is lost yet and there is time to accumulate, if not 1 btc, then at least a part of it. You are currently creating topic "Do you own 1 Bitcoin?", but in the future you will ask "Do you own 0.1 Bitcoin?". It is always easy to evaluate past events, but somehow it is difficult to see opportunities in the present. I remember 2017, but I can't say that it was easy to get bitcoin then, because I had no idea about the methods you are talking about. All this passed me by.

I do own more than one bitcoin, a large % of early adopters here own more than one bitcoin. It doesn’t take a big imagination to realise some people have a hell of a lot of bitcoin here. It’s just not a good idea to go around broadcasting it.

For the newbies, one bitcoin is still very achievable. Work hard & DCA, you can do it.

Checking on the votes now, it seems majority hasn't own 1 BTC yet, perhaps they are late in the crypto space or it is hard for the masses to really acquire because the price seems to grow that much since like 2017's bull run.

But then again, it's better to have a goal, I mean you can just start small, DCA and accumulate throughout the years that you are in crypto. And you just don't know, slowly your wallet will grow. Thing though is that you should also be prepared mentally about it, because it is not going to be an easy journey.

I do. I'm not afraid to say that I actually own a lot more than that.

Most of my coins were acquired years ago and last time I was accumulating was in 2019. 2020 was for me a time of waiting, where I did not do anything with my coins and 2021 was the year of spending. Since 2022 I'm again in accumulation mode Cheesy

until now i only have 0.002btc and even then i am already sick of holding it because the need is increasing and i need money just need the right time i will release my btc which i collected from the previous year

You can earn this much in just 1 week of a forum signature campaign or by translating something in the services section. How can you be sick of holding so very little? Just forget about it for a while. $50 won't change your life in any way, but owning bitcoin, regardless of how much you have, is better than not having any.

Even 5 years ago, a whole bitcoin was available to everyone Two years ago, the middle class could afford it. Now it is a coin for wealthy people waiting for the times when this money will become for millionaires

That is a consequence of an asset that keeps rising in value over the long time.

The price in fiat will continue to increase, making your Bitcoin more valuable and scarcer over time.

More people will realize that they don't need a bank to use money, so they will want to get some Bitcoin. Bitcoin is a game changer.

You are not the only one left out. I also have 0.0012BTC, and the needs for money keeps coming every blessed day.   I just wished I had just 1 Bitcoin, because I know how much such money could do in my life. $23,000 is actually a huge money and it takes those who has more money to hodl such in their respective wallets. Because looking at the statistics, it clearly shows those who own 1 Bitcoin are fewer than those who don't

First poll was surprisingly 50-50 but this one is 25-75. After five years it's expected as Bitcoin price is way higher now.
I hold some BTC but it's under a full one now. That's because I sold most of my coins before latest big crashes. I'll definitely re-buy and make it over full coin again though. I don't imagine a portfolio without Bitcoin. If you ask same question in bull market you will see different results. Most people switch to fiat in bear market for obvious reasons.

Right now the price of bitcoin has reached more than $23K and in my country that amount of money is very high, the only way for us to get bitcoin is to buy and store it little by little and don't know when it will reach 1 BTC Grin , the current value of bitcoin continues light is almost equivalent to a luxury car that may seem impossible to get with our current mediocre income and the only way is to save bitcoin little by little and consider it as an alternative savings for future.

"EDIT2018:
In 2017 it was 51% YES / 49% NO.
I'll leave voting open and since we are no longer in 2017 I'll change the subject to "Do you own 1 Bitcoin?""

Lets see 5 years down the road, has anything changed?

This question feels so personal. Reminds me of how inherently broke I am.🥲
Soon I say, soon I will own 1btc.

Isn't it normal that we live in a world where people may not be able to earn 20k dollars to invest? I mean, even in the USA the median wage was something like 60k to 80k I believe, that means quarter of a year's salary for many, and there are millions who earn less than that, and this is world's biggest economy as well, so even they can't.

And we are talking about billions upon billions of people, mostly in Asia, who do not earn 20k in a year, and probably earn more like 5-10k max, some who earn less than 5k a year. So, it is normal that people in the world may not have enough to get 1 bitcoin, doesn't sound like the reasonable thing to do at this point at all.

There are infinite ways of getting to own 1 bitcoin.

You're assuming only one of those, which is buying 1 bitcoin with fiat today, in 2022.

In 2009-2010 if you had a PC you could get 50 bitcoins for the cost of the electricity to power your PC for some hours/days.

Around that time also there were bitcoin fountains which gave multiple bitcoins just to play around with it. So you could have gotten it even for free.

But the thing is that the value of Bitcoin will continue to go up in the long term, so maybe we will see a similar question in the future phrased as "Do you own a million sats?", that is 1/100 of a Bitcoin.

Well you should only invest money that you do not need and can afford to loose also. Still it is always a good strategy to work a normal job and keep bitcoin from signature campaigns and bounties as a free gift that you do not sell because your investment for that is basically 0.

So the authorities finally breached Bitcointalk huh? Freakin IRS and their taxes mate. Leave me alone smh. /s

Seriously though — though I know BTC's price was cheaper back then, I'm pretty surprised the past results was 50-50. (assuming everyone was honest)

I don't think whales participate in Bitcointalk forum. I don't know but they have agents. The mass participation is from the lower class and some middle class. And if the lower class has the highest participation then where do you think they will have money to invest in bitcoin. So the NO will always lead in the poll. I even surprised that the poll by then which provided by mk4 is 50-50, that means the people that were having 1btc were more as well, coming to this year which the number suppose increase for the people that own 1bct but the number is drastically going down. The total number of NO has already passed 51% while the yes is 17+

What do you think is the issue. Although the year has not ended, more users will notice the thread and vote for the poll. But the NO might win the poll this time because of the drastic bear market which made most users to sell off their BTC.

I own 1 Bitcoin in 2020 at the price of $20k. Although I opened a topic about it and there I shared my Bitcoin buying story. Buying my bitcoins was a hassle though.  But finally I resorted to bank loan . the full story of my bitcoin buying here - https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/m.60469129

I think we need to bump this thread to have more audience to see this thread.

The bump thing indeed worked,  I myself is just seeing this thread for the first time and I've casted my vote just now.
Quote

But I expect the same result as more people holding a fraction of bitcoin and the supply is still the same.
I am of the opinion that result might be different compared to that of 2017, in this 2022 edition,  I am predicting that number of those who don't own one full bitcoin will be higher than those who own one full bitcoin.
This is because from 2017 to date,  alot of changed in the price of bitcoin and we have a lot of new members on bitcointalk too, who possibly might not be able to afford one full bitcoin due to its price compared to 2017 when the price was much cheaper.

Let's keep bumping the thread and getting more votes, hopefully we will have a thousand votes soon so as to establish a good result.
