Even though I have it in the amount of 1 Bitcoin in its entirety, it feels much better to keep it a secret. It's not that I don't want to vote, because the results don't show who the real owner is. Need to show Bitcoin balance? that would also be very unkind. To be honest, people will be much more secretive about Bitcoin holdings. Showing it off just for compliments?

How I wish I’ll be one of those who have owned 1 BTC, especially that I was hacked almost a month ago in which I am planning to invest some of those into Bitcoin. Right now, I’m just putting a little bit of my funds every month to BTC for building long-term wealth through dollar-cost averaging (DCA).

how were you hacked?

OP, if you don't let people see pool result without voting some people will pick random option only to see the result. It'll make the pool result even less reliable when we rely the voter being honest.

The polling results are masked. No body knows who owns more or less than one.

CloudFlare does, although it's unlikely any human bother looking for such data.

Voted.

There must have been a lot of changes since that old poll was made. 1BTC was a lot easier to own back then. It was easier to HODL as well. I guess many of those who owned a BTC or two must have already converted to cash during the time when the price shot up to more than $60,000.

Whether they started a business or built a house or bought a car or invested in something else or whatever, we cannot know. But that price must have been grabbed by a lot of BTC owners as an opportunity to somehow change their life.

The anonymous response is preferable, so no one will be subjected to monitoring and attack on his asset. The main issue is the genuineness of every respondent, no proof of fund. Asides, at this time smart traders are like to have their asset in stable coin than in bitcoin, which might be a worth of certain number of bitcoin.

1 Bitcoin can be equal to one home in indonesia so the question do yo own 1 bitcoin the answer is no  Cheesy if i do i would  buy a house first and then hodl 1 bitcoin  Grin
In some places 1 bitcoin can buy what you don't expect, and that was when bitcoin was 50k but now that the price is not stable and fluctuating it seems that bitcoin the values now is regardless compare to the last year price and if it continues like this Bitcoin value will not value much.

Most forum members who have been here for 5 or more years most likely have at least 1 BTC, and no one needs to be any special detective to draw such a conclusion. I know of one member (currently inactive) who has tens of thousands of BTCs, I know of some who have a few dozen or a hundred BTCs and have never even tried to hide it (or have done it pretty badly).
Yes. you are right, and especially for those once who joined or started with bounty and good paying campaign, i believe that i any body who is here consistently starting from 2012 and 2013 may make more than 1btc and is not some thing you will think otherwise.

won't some people just feel this is some way to find and track people's investments in Bitcoin by giving out such info Huh

With the price in 2022 VS the price back then I think a lot more people are going to be a lot more hesitant to answer.

Too much risk of bad actors and everything else. Telling people on a public forum you have $800 is a lot less of a risk then telling them you have $30500  $30000 $29250 $29000
Fine, if this keeps up people will tell you  Wink

Right. Voted also but do these types of pull actually show a true representation of the reality of the question? and as @mk4 said here,

So the authorities finally breached Bitcointalk huh? Freakin IRS and their taxes mate. Leave me alone smh. /s

Casted my vote.

Although the votes aren't that much on this edition.

I'd say that everyone should really start to accumulate their own bitcoins while they can still see it at a quite low price from the ATH that it had before.

I know that in some regions, it's not that cheap but we can grind until we're able to own one. Best of luck to everyone of us 'til the future comes to bitcoin holders.

Voted. It looks like there will be more No than Yes this time as the price of Bitcoin really pumps in the couple of years and I am sure that people have now lesser BTC than others. If I just saved all the BTC I have before, I have more than 3 BTC now.

You mean to say i would have.

The thing about conducting a survey, and looking at that data is it rarely is carried out correctly. It needs to be a fair test, which a lot ignore. For example, a survey being conducted for a number of years or even months on a volatile currency means you're going to get distorted results. It would be much better to run a monthly poll which is open for 30 days, the problem with that is you're unlikely to get enough people to vote to have any conclusive results, at least any that are worthwhile. I like the rule of at least 1000 people taking part, which mitigates natural variance, and you do get to see some sort of reliable trend. However, that does depend on the total pool available, for example if Bitcoin has 4 billion people using it, collecting information from a larger dataset than 1000, will always be beneficial. As you increase the dataset, as long as it's relatively randomly selected people participating, you should start to see more reliable data.

You'll always have people submitting fake data, and that's the point of larger datasets to try, and also prevent that along with other things. However, running a survey over a few years on a volatile currency like Bitcoin, doesn't make much sense.

The main problem with this kind of pool is that it is not representative.

We will have a few dozens of votes, at most. Which represents nothing about bitcoin talk users. It is just a collection of random user's financial information.

Seriously though — though I know BTC's price was cheaper back then, I'm pretty surprised the past results was 50-50. (assuming everyone was honest)

I’m actually surprised that the thread ran for 56 pages without being locked, but I guess that the poll was the core interest to keep it open for well over a year.

When the poll started, BTC was around 864$ (opening price on CoinMarketCap on the 23/12/2016), and was at 8337 $ by the end of the poll (16/04/2018), having gone through and ATH close to 20K$ in between.

By that I mean that polls with such an extended period of time distort the results really, especially in an environment where the price for a BTC varied so much as shown above. Technically, it would be better to delimit the timeframe to a couple of weeks at most, and then, of course, people will state whatever they wish …

No need to reply here. Just vote and reply voted so the thread does not fall down. Your vote is secret!
