Yes I completely agree with most of these posts. The only time I really played in a lottery was maybe during a cancer fundraiser or in grade school to win some candy. However paying $1-2 to win $20,000,000 with billion to one odds are a big waste of money.

Well euromilions is one of the restricted list that hasnt government full control, most of the lotteries are handled by them. These loteries becomes a thing you must do even if you loosing all,soo yes some people loose control thats why i believe that self control is needed .

Nope and nope, because government authorized lotteries all have a terrible payback ratio. For example, you may be surprised to see that, in 2013 the states has collected $62 billion from selling lottery tickets and has only paid out $38 billion, according to the data on http://factfinder.census.gov/faces/tableservices/jsf/pages/productview.xhtml?pid=SGF_2013_SGF004.US01&prodType=table

The tax is dependent on the country. He is talking about EUROmillions you are talking about United States..

Yup he is buying tickets for EUROmillions, but from the wording of the thread title and OP, I believe his question is on all the whole lottery industry. That's why I used US states lottery as an example to illustrate my point. The distribution of lottery revenue may be different for EUROmillions but I am sure a big part of it is taken by the government or used for charity. I can't find the detailed breakdown for different countries, but according to https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/EuroMillions#Distribution_of_revenue, only 50% UK EuroMillions revenue is paid back to the winners.

Well the self control at loteries as gambling is the main secret to avoid loose, the person i know could win even 1 milion and in a month will be poor again has no brain to get big money...

Self control at lotteries? I dont think you need some self control in lottery, just buy a few tickets to try your luck, after win save some and use the rest to try again, this is how lottery work but most people are not doing this way, they want a bigger price to earn big cash that is how they losing it

i dont like lotteries, the chances of winning are just way to small.

Chances of winning is not too small but almost impossible. Only luck can bring you money from the lotteries.
i agree i think its better to play some dice than trying your luck in lottery

However, if you don't play them, your chances go from highly improbable to definitively impossible. Not that I'm endorsing playing lottos, but ain't we gamblers?

i used to play lotteries on regular basis in real life though it did not bring me any bigger wins than the actual ticket price so it was just money wasting because of that i dont play it anymore
