I don't remember well, but i think i either deposit to casino or simply transfer my bitcoin to other wallet. And looking at now, bitcoin transaction fees was only about 10K satoshi (less than 300 bytes) and it's equal to $0.1 or less
Even though bitcoin price at that time was low, but tx fee was very low and transaction got confirmed quickly.
Recently I had a quite scary experience with bitcoin transaction. On Tuesday morning, I sent 0.016 btc with preset default Electrum fee (it was 50 satoshi/byte at the moment). Then after 48 hours of waiting and tracking my transaction on blockchain.info, it suddenly dissapeared and I got a message
"Transaction rejected by our node. Reason: Transaction was previously accepted but has been pruned from our database.". I thought the funds should come back to my wallet, but after 72 hours, nothing has changed. I needed to send that amount, so I decided to send it again in another transaction with much higher fee (140sat/byte). After I sent the second transaction, the first one suddenly changed and it showed I have 1 confirmation. I went to check it to blockchain.info and my first transaction was there again, despite the fact they wrote it was removed from their database. Then, after 10mins, both of the transactions were confirmed..
Oh bitcoin, you make my hair go grey.
50 satoshi/byte is very low these days, if you check
http://bitcoinfees.21.co/, they suggest you to use 180 satoshis/byte instead. Also, i think you should update your Electrum wallet since newest version don't have default fee anymore but user can choose fees with simple horizontal scroll.
Of course I know that page, but I don't check it everytime I need to send something and personally I think that 180 sat/byte is really high fee, especially for smaller transactions. You should use this fee if you want you transaction to be confirmed within one block, so lets say in ten minutes. When I need as fast transaction as this, I check the page and set the fees higher of course. But I just wanted to do a regular transfer and waiting for few hours was okay for me, so no need to set higher fee. But I really didn't expect it will take more than 3 days and that the transaction will be removed from the blockchain.info database. I have the newest version of Electrum installed and yes, there is the scroll option, but it is set on 50 sat by default, which I don't think is sooo incredibly low fee if you want your bitcoins to be transfered within hours.
