In my opinion , I don't think alts have chances against Bitcoins. Bitcoin will stay on top but alts might try to take its place and we really don't know what the future will bring but so far or as of the present it's a no in my opinion.
Additionally we need to be realistic about our expectation in the cryptocurrency market, that Bitcoin the most highly valued cryptocurrency has not yet fully tap the majority of the consumer market yet, and you think there is a room for one more cryptocurrency. Bitcoin as a currency needs to grow first, and what I mean about that is both consumers and sellers are accepting Bitcoin as a kind of currency. If that happen there will be a possibility that people will start to look for another cryptocurrency in the market that is suited to be an alternative to Bitcoin.

Yes, some have not even heard of bitcoin. So it is quite possible the emergence of another stronger and more popular currency.
We are surprise by how the way bitocin grow this big so I'm pretty sure there will be more surprises in the future, we cannot discount the potential of altcoins because combining all of them will beat the marketcap  of bitcoin already, that means as bitcoin grows altcoins are also growing it overall they are making a great progress. There are some alts that we think will beat bitcoin in the future so it's good to save it now while the price is still cheap.

Yes offcourse, there are chances for other altcoins against bitcoin.
Of course, not.

Its main reason is , its rising price. Day by day bitcoin price is rising. So small investors who cant afford to invest in bitcoins are turning towards the altcoins specially ethereum to invest.  Thats why you can see a sudden surge in ethereum price  .
People not being able to afford Bitcoin isn't exactly the case since you're not forced to buy yourself one or more whole Bitcoins. Buying smaller fractions of a whole Bitcoin is perfectly fine. Other than that, I do agree that people with a relatively lower budget prefer to dive into altcoins, than investing in Bitcoin due to the higher price. However, nothing in the world justifies Ethereum's price to sit at current levels with that many circulating coins, barely any real world usage (aside from speculative purposes), shady ICO distribution, etc. Every dollar that Bitcoin is increasing in value is well justified. Even if you jump on board at current levels, you invest in the future, and not in a token that's extremely overpriced as is the case with Ethereum.

Anything can happen, similar to that experienced by electronic products such as Nokia, Motorola and so on, once people think Nokia will forever but now it's not there.

Yes, it will be happened, because Satoshi who made bitcoin, than one day we hear another man create new and biggest cyrpto currency who beat the bitcoin.
But in this time, bitcoin is best, than we should go to choose best crypto and that is only bitcoin.

I have been seeing Bitcoins' price rising with a stability in its growth, but due to the higher mining fee that is being levied on transactions these days, big businesses are now moving their funds towards alts and taking advantage with their least fees as well as shaping a completely new economy in the trends of altcoin markets. Do you think this may harm Bitcoin's dignity and open up a chance in real for alts to rise?

as long as there is no altcoin surpassing the price value of bitcoin, there will be no any altcoin have chances to defeat it.
Let us always check the value between bitcoin and altcoin. Now if there is altcoin value more than bitcoin I think thats the bitcoin are closely to surpass by the altcoin.

I'll write my opinion here.
Well, maybe we can say that some altcoins have better abilities, are better and easy for transaction but years showed us how secure bitcoin and it's wallet is. Many company invested in bitcoins like bitfury, bitmain, coince and etc. So it gained trust and nowdays we see that even starbucks accepts bitcoin and also we can buy gift cards with btc. Trust is hard part always and bitcoin gained and deserved it, so only future can show us if alt will change regular bitcoin, nowdays we can answer this question no.

No altcoin is in a position to replace bitcoin.Higher transaction fees has become a big issue in the adoption of bitcoin. But altcoins which offer low transaction fees alone is not enough to attract new companies towards it.Bitcoin has been well established as a digital currency and is rapidly gaining trust all over the world. So thre is no substitute for bitcoin now.
It is not all about fee for the transaction that can attract people for the altcoins or get rid from using bitcoin but it is all about the features of the cryptocurrencies, If other people or companies will a chance for another cryptocurrency for sure they will look for the features first because features will be the foundation for the cryptocurrency and if an altcoin will have a better features than bitcoin then it will be a threat against bitcoin.

Some altcoins are offering alternatives way to avoid the big transaction fees and fast delivered just in some minutes.
But altcoins which offer low transaction fees alone is not enough to attract new companies towards it.Bitcoin has been well established as a digital currency and is rapidly gaining trust all over the world.
Because bitcoin is the first cryptocurrency which had dominated the market since 2009 and it's more familiar without those are a lack of knowledge about bitcoin.
So thre is no substitute for bitcoin now.
Not for the substitution but the possibility of altcoin to be a competitor for bitcoin itself.

Well in my own opinion for me its impossible to me that altcoin will have a chance in the future to beat bitcoin since bitcoin is always in the top and if there is no bitcoin those altcoin will never be alive..
We are lucky that we have bitcoin and i think bitcoin should be increase more value than altcoin that honestly still no well know shop or store online are accepting  altcoin except for cellphone unlock online...
to me very honestly there is no doubt that alts have chance to overcome bitcoin. but in fact bitcoin is still too far from alts which is look like impossible that they will ever overcome them. on other side the users of bitcoin are continuously increasing which is also making bitcoin more stronger against the alt coins. hope that in future bitcoin will  remain as the most popular and dominant currency of the world.
no doubt that bitcoin is one of the most popular crypto currency, because most of the people who usually use online shopping or are involved in online business they mostly prefer to bitcoin instead of any other alt coin.and therefore i think bitcoin will remain as number one currency of the world.

In my opinion, we can pretty much tell that there are more possibilities, in which some other cryptocurrency will get advantage over the bitcoin.
The thing is, that we currently witness that bitcoin dominance is around 51% level.
It means that almost the half of the overall cryptocurrency market capitalization is ruled by altcoins, so I can really see some chances for altcoins against bitcoin: answering that question.

I think that Monero is a great enemy of bitcoin, because the anonymousness is much better on this particular cryptocurrency.
Also, it is pretty funny that Ripple is #2 in market capitalization, but it is a product of banks.

I think if an altcoin is going to rival bitcoin it will need to do something unique, have a specific purpose and not just be a copycat of bitcoin.

ETH as an example is doing just that, I do think at some point we will see a newcomer that will outshine bitcoin but when is the question.

Agreed.  And, as there is a lot of new money moving into digital currencies now, the opportunity exists for an alt coin to 'outshine' bitcoin.  The key is wiifm (what's in it for me?)... what is the new money looking for?  Buy to hold, trade for quick profits, exchange, etc, etc..

I steadily see bitcoins market dominance decreasing a point or so a day all the alts will become bitcoins in their own right.
No that is not possible and that is only ideal thinking because it is not possible that people of the world will use almost all of the coins for their international transactions only that coin will be the best which the majority of the people will use while the remaining will be just the following and will run behind it. Which nowadays is bitcoin.

As the price of bitcoin keeps growing I think it will be impossible for many users of countries with low income to keep using bitcoin, not only for the fees but the price in itself, just look at the price right now and if some of the prediction come true about the future price of bitcoin, then things are going to become even worst.
That is one of the things that we need to consider for bitcoin, most of the people that i know also want to use bitcoin  as their currency but the problem is, they can't afford such thing like the regular fees when they are doing transaction and also the continuous rising for the price of bitcoin which is not affordable anymore for other people.
Yes I also believe that is one of the main problems bitcoins has at this very moment. However I think if we manage to come up with a viable solution to this matter bitcoin will somewhat remain it's dominance. But as long as these problems aren't fixed altcoins are good investments and that's why we see alot of money being pumped into altcoins right now.
