we will have digital currencies in before 15 years, in good "modern" countries... BEFORE. Im sure

You don't have to look too far. The major fiat currencies of today already serve as digital currencies. The dollar, Euro, and Yen, not to mention many smaller currencies in major modern economies, already serve many more digital transactions than cash transactions. The only difference between fiat digital transactions and cryptocurrency transactions is the level of anonymity. This is perhaps the only place that bitcoin has an advantage over digital fiat, because fiat is superior in every other category, including the most important one: price stability.

I think that this bitcoin replacing dollar will not be in 15 years maybe later maybe in 20-30 years because dollar is too important for America economy so i dont see reason now for replacing it for crpytocurrency and it will replace also other values if world war 3 dont start or other type of apocalypse.

There's currently nothing that bitcoin does better than the USD. Speed of transactions, transaction fees, ubiquity, store of value, and heck even digital state... USD does them all better, so how exactly is bitcoin ever going to become the preferred unit of exchange? Most people point to it's digital status without realizing that the USD is also mostly digital at this point. Of all these things that bitcoin doesn't do better than the dollar, the thing that hurts it the most is unstable store of value (volatility is good for traders but terrible for transactions or saving), and the transaction fees that have become prohibitive due to network congestion.

It will not happen soon but there is of course a chance that it will be possible because you also see that Bitcoin is getting more used and more acceptable so that is nice

I think that's not a criteria on why bitcoin would replace dollar.  Smiley

Governments don't want something that is uncontrollable. It's either they kill it or acquire it. Same as in bitcoin, It will only replace dollar if it is under the  control of the government, probably a centralized one.  Smiley
Honestly, we need to be realistic so we will know the real answer. Bitcoin in any way cannot replace Dollar because that currency is too powerful and I even doubt if we can replace a weak currency. The thing is, we do not belong to their level since we are decentralized while every countries currency has their own government to protect and to improve theirs.
Bitcoin is already more powerful than most of the currencies of the world but the best thing is that bitcoin does not need to replace them, bitcoin just needs to become a viable alternative to the fiat system currently in place.

Yesterday Bitcoin has become more expensive than an ounce of gold .. Can money eliminated the gold, or gold eliminated money? No! This same with Bitcoin.  BTC will be exist along with FIAT as on market exist bars, restaurants, fast foods, catering...
For each will be always piece of a cake!
Correct, the world is too big bitcoin does not need to monopolize the currency sector it just needs to become a sizable chunk of the cake and then bitcoin will be everywhere and we will be able to use it in our every day lives.

Not gonna happen even how many years you will have to wait, every country has their own currency and their government decide on that thing. Bitcoin is not regulated and not controlled by any government, so how would the majority of people in this world trust bitcoin when government is the most powerful in a nation. We are living in a dream if we believe it will happen.

- I think Bitcoin and Dollar will exist together in the future. "Bitcoin will replace Dollar" is impossible because Dollar has a solid foundation for many years, the stability and popularity of Dollar can say is the world leader, not only that but it is accepted around the world and act as intermediary in transactions. I can not find any reason to replace it with another currency
- Bitcoin has the potential to lead the world but that doesn't mean it can replace the Dollar. Because Bitcoin just a virtual currency and just use on the internet, its drawbacks are too many
It should exist what I mean is Bitcoin is useless without Fiat currency. Lets face it we all have tried converting Bitcoin to a Fiat Currency because it has more value in practical uses. Also Bitcoin's value as we know it is measured in Fiat, it depends on the value that is given to it equal to its Fiat counterpart. It would be worthless if USD or any Fiat Currency's value becomes zero.
Those currencies don't need to compare because they are designed for something like the bitcoin, bitcoin is a newly designed money for being digital and secured, fast and also cheap for its requirements especially the fees when doing transaction while fiat or us dollar is designed for traditional transaction and without us dollar then bitcoin will be worthless because you can't convert it into real money which others used to.

You are completely right - you can not compare Bitcoin and fiat currency. They have a completely different function. Each of us can easily use both these currencies. Bitcoin will always be an alternative currency

No. I will not beleive on just one article on the internet. And exactly I doubted it.
Bitcoin will never replace dollar as long as bitcoin is not centralized. Let me tell something, how can bitcoin will replace dollar if dollar is the one of it comparator price.
Actually I have not seen any article in the internet that says bitcoin will replace, I would love to hear the reason behind of the author if you have one. For me, the logic is very simple, bitcoin is not a currency or legal currency to be exact while dollar is the leading legal currency in the world.
If you see that comparison only, it's pretty obvious that what we are thinking will never happen, let us be contented instead of what bitcoin has already achieved.
That's right. Bitcoin has to be centralized first to start to talk about any replacement. Yes, bitcoin costs a lot today and it's popularity is growing, but i think tho talk about dollar's replacement is just not serious.
Because bitcoin will never replace the fiat payment. This is an example about a delusional by the people with high expectation about bitcoin in the future.

A lot of the aspects, but the main concern is about the legalism of crypto. This is an important thing and will be applying on all of the countries.
I agree with your opinion. It can be very funny to read fairy dreams of some users, because the reality is a little different, and Fiat will exist and keep its position strong enough. Bitcoin is a masterpiece, but only for limited use.

Yeah you got that. And bitcoin may be herr for a long time with fiat, i just don't see it replacing it in any way. The way i see it, we may be wise enough in the future to have a use for both that would perfectly compliment their uses and features. Bitcoin doesn't have to replace any currency, it can just make people's lives a lot easier

Coinbase CEO believes bitcoin will replace dollar within 15 years.

Read the following news:
http://cointelegraph.com/news/114983/coinbase-ceo-bitcoin-will-replace-dollar-within-15-years

Do you think it will be true? Are you positive towards bitcoin's future status?

There is no chance that bitcoin may change the standard currency, its a tradition that people wont let go no matter how high the demand is, and how can bitcoin replace dollar if bitcoin can only be calculated using dollar.

Bitcoin has no potential to replace the fiat currency since it does not met the conditions to replace the currency of a certain country. But even bitcoin is only an online currency it can be a good medium of exchange between fiat currencies to do business online.

I don't think bitcoin will replace dollar soon because more countries were using dollar currency, and as I've heard the feedbacks from people that it's good and the value is stable with minimal fluctuations. In bitcoin there's no significant reasons that it will replace fiat dollar due to its price value is always changing and in economy of a country it really needs to be stable, eventhough btc price reached that higher value today, it doesn't mean it will replace dollar currency just for faster price increase.
That recent price increase has nothing to do for a possible devaluation of dollar, such a strong currency and it will never just weaken just because of the crypto currencies or bitcoin which is the leading of all. Sure, bitcoin get a good adoption and it's growing currently but it cannot match the trust and confidence of the people who are using regulated currency especially a bigger one which is USD.
