Being able to regulate Bitcoin essentially means control, but banning or outlawing something is just a possible outcome of such control. In practice, they can try to regulate Bitcoin ins and outs, i.e. exchanges and web wallets, i.e. places where fiat money turns into cryptomoney (and vice versa). That's basically what we have seen the Chinese authorities did, or, rather, tried to do since after their interference Bitcoin started to shoot up like a weed. I suspect this is not quite what they had expected or aimed to achieve

Yes, although bitcoin continue to grow and have a lot of users, but I'm not sure if bitcoin will replace dollar. The government will not let it happen and dollar or other currencies would continue to exist and needed. Perhaps that is true that bitcoin will not replace dollar or any other currency but it will be a viable payment alternative and easy to use.

With the big number of population in this world, I don't think one currency would be enough to make this world a better place. Dollar and the same with legal currencies will also exist in the future, and if that time bitcoin is still there the better as it can give us the convenience to transact with online transaction. For us who believes the potential of bitcoin, we should be investing now but it's good to think it will just be a payment system than a currency.

Still the good thing must be, dollars might get forgotten by people as they will be busy in using convenient and efficient way of payment system and without doubts bitcoin would be that system.

Bitcoin is uncontrollable currency. I think it will take some time but near in future it will compete with dollar may be. Currently outnumbering gold's prices by reaching its ATH prices, soon it will $2000 levels. People's interest on bitcoin will be more than enough to make dollars as less used.

Still this does not prove that Bitcoin will replace dollar. It will never replace the dollar for the same reason that you have stated. Government always want everything to be under their control. And beside, the distribution model of Bitcoin is not favorable by the government idea of centralized distribution.
