Most of us have credit cards, but did plastic cards replace paper money?
Electronic and internet payments systems exist for about 20 years, but did they replace flat currencies?
In the nearest future cryptocurrency should become fully supported by most of payment systems,
to let customers decide which currency or coin they prefer to use.
If you really objectively consider this issue, then I'm completely confident that users will prefer the dollar for real things in real life. I can not see Bitcoin as a means of payment neither now, nor in the future.

Don't forget that we all have smartphones, and payment via smartphone can quickly overcome plastic cards and paper money.
No need to pick your wallet, simply unlock your phone and open your crypto wallet app.  Smiley

It is almost impossible for bitcoin to replace the Dollar.....Atleast, there would be strong oppositions against bitcoin in some government quarters. Moreover, bitcoin value is widely measured with the dollar as the base currency.

probably not going to happen bitcoin can replace the dollar because the dollar is very popular around the world. The government will not let it happen so I think it will take a long time to be able to replace it.

Coinbase CEO believes bitcoin will replace dollar within 15 years.

Read the following news:

Do you think it will be true? Are you positive towards bitcoin's future status?

I absolutely Fan of Bitcoin, but regarding to replacement of Dollar to Bitcoin I think its a long long time if it will be happen, because the status of bitcoin is not consistent sometimes many people are expressing their feeling for a negative result of their investment
but if it is going to high price value again, they will suddenly come back to support and prepared for some other alternative technique of investment in Crypto. Bitcoin status is so volatile but prediction of bitcoin replacing to dollar? I don't think so.  We just wait even after 1 year or 2 years if there is a good result.

That will not happen, even after 15 years the dollar will continue to exist. It is impossible for the government to let the dollar disappear because of bitcoin, bitcoin is too weak to eliminate the dollar.

I don't think its will happen, but might bitcoin will replace gold soon.
because if you want replace dollar with bitcoin, you need to hand over the control of bitcoin to government.
its very difficulty to replace because not everyone know about bitcoin.

Bitcoin may be an alternative to the dollar, not the dollar.

In essence, BTC is very difficult to replace the U.S. dollar, which is guaranteed by the government. Because there is no guarantee of gold and silver, BTC is just a bunch of data sharing the books.

We should be very logically approached bitcoin. And honestly saying bitcoin never ever replace Dollar it is going to survive for ever. May be a few volume affected But not maximum level. So I think and confirm that dollar will sustain and bitcoin will rock.

Because they (bitcoin and fiat) are two completely different currency as bitcoin being intangible and fiat being the opposite and i think the same too that both will have their own separate story. Only then that i will have second thought about bitcoin replacing dollar if bitcoin's drawback will be addressed soon.

First of all it is very hard to replace anything that's been established for many centuries and what people have come to rely and depend on. But dollar lacks in digital world, that could give more space for bitcoin to groom.

I do not believe this happens. It is very difficult to implement. The dollar is a long-standing currency, bitcoin takes time to replace it.
Yes, it is impossible to make that happen on this time because there is a lot of things to be establish to realize that situation but i do believe in the near future for the crypto currency will be the universal money and all establishment will prefer to use and accept crypto currency than the real currency, as our world slowly evolve into a full digital technology.

IMHO, there is no way this will happen, there are too many technical and political obstacles.
Even in case of a general acceptance of bitcoin - at present, very far to achieve - it will be impossible a complete replacement.
But you know, a lot of "impossible things" happened in the past, so... we'll see.

At present, the dollar is still more popular than bitcoin. Bitcoins need to grow more to become common currency. Bitcoin needs campaigns to bring bitcoin to everyone

You do have a point there, mate. Even with the inception of credit cards, fiat currencies still exist in our world. Cards have not managed to replace fiat, but instead serve as a complement to fiat currency. The same thing could happen with Bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies as they become used alongside other fiat currencies in the mainstream world. Since Bitcoin lacks many properties of the Dollar, it would make it impossible to replace it anytime soon.

It is extremely volatile, non-fungible, and very slow, making it hard to become recognized as a true currency and rival against the Dollar. But, I do believe that the Dollar will become stronger in the long term as it shifts itself from being physical to digital in a privately-owned ledger by the FED. This will become a major improvement to the well-known fiat currency as it delivers greater transparency, efficiency, and costs reduction. Once the US realizes the true benefits of blockchain technology, the Dollar would be no longer printed and only exist as a digital currency in our world.

When that time comes, other national currencies will follow it, and fiat currencies will survive alongside cryptocurrencies for years to come. Just my opinion Smiley

Nothing of what you said makes any sense. If the FED creates a private ledger, how will that increase transparency? It's a private ledger. What you want is a public ledger.

The dollar will never be printed? Yeah right. And maybe we'll no longer need water, since we'll all be cyborgs who use solar power for energy.  Roll Eyes In fact none of us will ever leave our home, we will be living in a virtual reality where everything is done online. No need for utilities anymore or paper money. But if theres a power outage, or can't afford internet we're screwed and will be sent to the poor house to receive sandwiches as payment. The price of the internet will skyrocket, as they know having the internet will literally be a matter of life or death.
 /sarcasm

Also, there is no reason fiat currency will be stronger than bitcoin. If a rich person starts to sell items using bitcoin, and you can buy essential items with bitcoin, fiat may slowly die away. It's all up to whether people want to buy and sell goods with bitcoin.

Nope. I very doubt government will want to relinquish control...

As a sub currency it could gain mainstream use but i think there will be much blood before BTC replace the Dollar.

Modern governments seem very infavor of relinquishing control. That's what this whole globalization thing is about. Most governments want to surrender to a one world government. So if a one-world-government is not far-fetched then neither is a one-world currency. Although I do not think this currency is going to be bitcoin, nobody wants those ridiculous fees.
