I honestly don't think it'll happen, certainly not in 15 years... In 100 years maybe?

Yeah I also agree with it, bitcoin can't replace dollar for to short of time. But maybe in 100 years from now will see.
even for the long term bitcoin will not be able to replace the dollar. here the government plays an important role. you can see the government's influence on bitcoin itself. when bitcoin is prohibited to circulate in a country with the ease give effecting to the bitcoin price in the market, I think any government will not want to replace their local currency to be replaced with bitcoin. it might make more sense if bitcoins replace the dollar only in terms for the international currency

Maybe in 10 years from now, my beliefs are the roles will invert, transparency that comes along with cryptocurrency will not allow outlaws to do business and they will use fiat currency so 80% of peoplewill use digital money (AKA current cryptocurrencies) and the remainder will user paper money due to different reasons
This is probably going to take many years to come. Because the dollar represents the United States' finances, if bitcoin replaces the US dollar, it shows that the US government has accepted bitcoin as a replacement for its dollar, which is quite difficult. towels are acceptable. I think the best option is that bitcoin and USD hold the same value for the rest of the currency.

I think bitcoin was not made to replace any currency but made to be a new option for currency. And not to mention bitcoin's condition to people especially to digital immigrants, they tend to deny the ide of change in currency tgat is why bitcoin's popularity stays the same. I think its good to let it be like that, having bitcoin and dollar exist with each other so people could have choices of currency.

Yes, no strong support from big countries will make the future bitcoin difficult to survive for a long time, let alone to turn the dollar which is the world's strongest currency, I'm never sure bitcoin can replace dollar forever.
No this cannot happen at all.Dollar is an international currency.Dollar is very stable and all the international transactions are being done through the dollar only.Dollar does not need any internet connection to use it unlike bitcoin.Bitcoin is very volatile too.Bitcoin is not even legalised in many nations. It is even banned in some nations.Dollar is a physical currency.Bitcoin is decentralised while dollar is under the control of the central bank.So the government will try its best to maintain the integrity of dollar.

I dont think Bitcoin will replace dollar because they are both different in some ways. Dollar is a currency in the real world while cryptocurrency is part of the electronic world which is also helping its own economy.

I don't think that bitcoin can replace dollars because they have different value and dollars has already stablish as a number one currency and no one can replace it.

No. In trying to get into cryptos, having conversations with others, they just don't care. Paper money is just much easier to use. I would like it to.

If the government will rely on decentralized one wouldn't be very shameful ? Of course government will not let cryptocurrency conquered the old one. Fiats such as dollar , Euro ,Php and many more cannot be replace in a country because it is the traditional one aside not all of the people are knowledgeable about cryptocurrency. However it can replace the fiat currency but not this century, in the future maybe.

Coinbase CEO believes bitcoin will replace dollar within 15 years.

Read the following news:
http://cointelegraph.com/news/114983/coinbase-ceo-bitcoin-will-replace-dollar-within-15-years

Do you think it will be true? Are you positive towards bitcoin's future status?
No I don’t think that bitcoin will be able to replace dollar because firstly, dollar is a stable form of currency because of which its value doesn’t fluctuate whereas bitcoin is not stable and it’s value fluctuate. Then dollar is centralised resulting in increase stability whereas bitcoin is decentralised resulting in decreased stability. Then dollar is way more popular than bitcoin because of which dollar has way more users than bitcoin. Dollars are more trusted also than bitcoin.

Theoretically yes, but that can't happen. Bitcoin cannot replace the dollar at the moment, just as it lacks security, and its value remains unstable.
I think bitcoin can't replaced USD not cause of lack security because as my knowledges Bitcoin is more security and more anonymous than USD is.
The government has the power to eliminate whatever causes a threat to their own currency, therefore if we want bitcoin to stay
we should abide with the law when the government will regulate bitcoin. USD is a big currency, it will be replace by other legal currency but not bitcoin.

Message @Hhampuz if you are looking for a CM!
I highly doubt it. I've heard from several sources. It seems that the amount of electricity it takes for any transaction isn't manageable in the long run for BTC. I think there are better alternatives.
Yeah but the miners are paying for those cost of electricity and they're not using it for free or doing any thing illegals right ?
That is not the only basis to think that bitcoin will replace dollars, it's not about electricity or the cost of making it or transacting it but on
how the government will be able to monitor the transactions, they will always want to have a centralized so they can monitor our activities.

A dollar is controlled as centralized currency and government doesn't support something that is uncontrollable. All of the governments are adapting to the current state of the market because they need to. They will persist in the preservation of the dollar as such because it has existed a long time before Bitcoin even appeared and also the dollar is representing America as the nation. America is the powerful nation and some decentralized currency ( don't get me wrong; I support the Bitcoin very much) cant replace the currency that has "deep roots" implemented into the society.

Maybe unless they find a means of seizing control of bitcoin else i don't think it will replace the dollar soon either . We can have both actually and that for me is the ideal solution rather than help one against the other.

I think it is possible.. maybe bitcoin, maybe some other coin but money will be digitized for sure
As long as bitcoin and any other cryptocurrency are depending on the internet and can't be transacted without the online connection it is possible to replace dollars or any fiat all over the world, though lets not close the door that cryptocurrency may replace that money in term of exchanges as we see that the world are now open with this virtual currencies! But, weakness is still a weakness and we can't rely on it unless the issue has been solved! this is just like plastic cards we cant go out without a cash and just plastic cards to pay because we dont know when will be the system down.
I think that is impossible.
Cryptocurrency coexists with currency.
What do you think when you drink a coffee for $ 10 and you pay it with Bitcoin the fee is $ 40

I don't think decentralized currencies will take over at any time, because if they got big enough you would have a large centralized body (like a government) dedicating lots of resources to take it down.

I think it's a good intermediary to spending fiat in more secure ways. I think it'll stay this way for a while.
